What Will You Sacrifice to Be a Better Writer? – From the Live, Write, Thrive blog
I actually like Excel…but I love writing too
March 18, 2019

Today’s guest post is by Beth Cadman.
Before taking the plunge to write full-time, I often found myself imagining how wonderful it must be.
To be able to manage my own time, to work wherever and whenever I wanted.
To sit in coffee shops, looking fantastically artistic and observing the world passing by, while the inspiration for a new book just “came to me.”
To never have another pointless team meeting again, or create another project management document, or Excel spreadsheet, or be bossed around by my very bossy boss.
To have the unwavering support of family and friends, who would eagerly read everything I wrote.
To live my life knowing that I wasn’t just another sucker in the rat race, that I was true to myself, and inevitably, definitely, the universe would reward me for that by making me a celebrated, world-famous author in no time…

Blogging Tip: 4 Ways to Attract More Followers
Great post! I try to post at least once a week or more, but to be a good follower too
Hello fellow bloggers! Today we’re going to talk about followers, because as much as we all enjoy writing, sometimes blogging can feel like shouting into the void when we receive no response to our latest post. The best part of blogging is the community that comes with gaining and becoming a follower(s).
QUICK HINT: It is just as important to be a good follower as it is to find followers.
Here’s the thing. I do not have an astounding number of followers. I am still a relatively small blog compared to the people who do this for a living. I began this blog on October 8th, 2017 and since then I have gained 2,237 followers (and some really great friends among those numbers). What I have going for me is consistency.
In the past, I was asked, “How did you gain so many followers so quickly?”
Even now as I…

How to avoid turning off your readers
Okay, confession time. I haven’t been writing for the past few weeks. Nothing but cold, wet weather and to top this misery up pops Daylight Savings Time. Yuck.
But, today is sunny so, I’m back at my desk attempting to make some forward progress on my blog in addition to the 2 WIP sitting here.
You may ask what I’ve done all my time…
Reading, reading and reading. Devouring books of all types. The good, great, bad and ugly. Some I’ve not been able to finish. Life is too short to spend hours reading junk. So, I may toss a couple of duds in search of a really good read. Found a few.
All this reading got me to thinking. Why do I reject a book after just a couple of chapters? Or even a few pages? And most of all, what can I do to avoid readers rejecting my…

Would It Really Be So Bad If Writing Never Became Your Day Job?
Great post, and one I personally struggled with. I’d love for writing to be my full-time gig, so much that I didn’t search too hard for a day job. Realizing it is a lot of hard work and that any writing is good, I’m OK with looking again, until I hit a bestseller
