Aeternitas lectures

Kind readers,

well, goodness…

It appears that I shall ramble twice during Aeternitas 2011. To my surprise, both of my proposals were accepted by the organizers.

Two more lectures! Every time I find out that I shall speak again, I am bewildered.

I shall do my best to share yet more hopeful words.

The lectures are:

Wayward Sons: Professor Snape, Captain Harlock, and the Quest for an Ideal

A Crystal Flask: Severus Snape, Individuation and Transcendence

Each will last thirty minutes.

I shall also bring a few copies of my books (Bring forth the best robes and The flawed master) to sign, should anybody want one.

I have a definite feeling that Blessed: how to be a joyful mystic will not be published until this summer at least… Ah, well! Things will unfold as is best. I cannot stretch myself as thinly as I once did.

Aeternitas 2011: proposals

Kind readers,

another convention is looming ahead… Aeternitas 2011.

I have submitted two proposals; we shall see if anything comes of it!

The first lecture is called "Wayward Sons: Professor Snape, Captain Harlock and the quest for an ideal." The second is called "A crystal flask: Severus Snape, individuation and transcendence." Hopefully, one of them will be selected, and I shall be granted to ramble a bit for you again.

If neither appeals to the organizers (and heaven knows my synopses tend to be nebulous), I shall happily gad about with my loved ones :-)

In the meantime, I shall be working on Blessed: how to be a joyful mystic. I still have to finish work on No lasting city -I must admit that I seem to be slowing down these days. I need to make more rosaries for my little shop…

I made one for myself not too long ago. It has a thistle center, symbolic of my vocation to care for the unwanted and outcasts.

I used onyx divider beads, and purple agate and moss agate beads.

carrying on

Kind readers,

this morning, I was welcomed in the Anglican Communion… This has given me a lot of peace. I shall continue along the path, nourished by all the beauty I have encountered as I have learned, struggled, and grown.

I trust that my steps are being guided, even though I am so often at a loss.

Here I am with Bishop John. Meeting him for the first time was a great blessing.

In his sermon, he spoke about "radical hospitality" -to me, that is the whole story.

As the band Kansas sang,

On a stormy sea of moving emotion

Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean

I set a course for winds of fortune

But I hear the voices say

Carry on my wayward son

There'll be peace when you are done

Lay your weary head to rest

Don't you cry no more

Carry on, you will always remember

Carry on, nothing equals the splendor

Now your life's no longer empty

Surely heaven waits for you

egg nog, snow and warmth

Kind readers,

look at the amazing piece that my dearest Ben Wu just did for me! It will be for my loved ones as well… This image will adorn the Christmas postcards that I shall be sending this year.

Everything he draws is so wonderful. I had wanted to share peace and joy with my deeply cherished ones, and the illustration depicts this perfectly.

He knows what is in my heart.

winter, book, lecture

Kind readers,

here is a photograph of the promotional poster I shall be using for Blessed: how to be a joyful mystic, my upcoming book…

It is 11×17 inches, and quite lovely!

I am behind schedule as far as writing the book goes, but feeling very good about this project. It will be most cathartic. I also hope that it will be of benefit to others. Blessed will be my compassion manifesto, you might say.

This autumn has been a little more hectic than I thought it would be! Those things happen. Renovations, spiritual breakthroughs/adjustments, sorting piles of letters and books, and all that… But another tranquil winter is just around the corner. I plan to hibernate happily in my sanctuary, where I shall dedicate the majority of my time to my writing endeavor.

Ah yes, though I shall also have to prepare my proposal for Aeternitas 2011 re: lecture. I have no idea if anyone still wishes to hear me ramble about Professor Snape and variations upon eternal love, but we shall soon see.

Tau cross rosary, writing endeavors

Kind readers,

yesterday, I made a rosary for a loved one, who had requested something with wooden beads and a Tau cross… Said cross came directly from Jerusalem:

And here I am, at work on the rosary. The original photograph was turned into a painting by a kind friend and her mother:

I can no longer do up close detail work without my reading glasses.

I have been a bit tired, and bathroom renovations are imminent (lo, the disruption), but I am -really and finally- at last about to start writing Blessed: how to be a joyful mystic. It will be my tranquil winter endeavor. I shall be ensconced in my sanctuary, pen in hand, my window adorned with frost. My heart sighs with joy at the very thought.

Mary Magdalene rosary

Kind readers,

I have added a new rosary to my little etsy shop

It features a color medal depicting St. Mary Magdalene washing the Lord's feet; on the reverse side, she is standing at His tomb.

It was made with 6mm red moss jasper beads.

It was good to craft a rosary again after a semi-brief hiatus! I hope to add yet more to my shop in the coming weeks.

In other news, I am about to start writing Blessed: how to be a joyful mystic. It will be published at the start of 2011.

Blessed: the new cover by Ben Wu

Kind readers,

my dear and talented friend Ben Wu has finished the wonderful new cover that will grace my upcoming book, Blessed: how to be a joyful mystic.

I shall start working on the book in september, and it should be available around december.

I am very excited about this project! I pray that it will be a source of peace, wisdom and beauty.

I hope to make more rosaries for my little etsy shop soon also -I have been resting and reading in my garden since I returned home from Infinitus. I...

Infinitus report

Kind readers,

I had such a blessed time at Infinitus! Truly, it was the most wonderful Harry Potter conference I have attended so far. I have registered for Aeternitas 2011 (see you in New Hampshire!), and shall be going to Ascendio in 2012 (where I shall launch my third book of mystical Snape essays, A Princely Calling). I must return to Hogsmeade; it was simply magical.

Here I am, about to give my lecture…

It was very well attended and received, and I was glad :-)

If you would like to read the...

Infinitus: 5 days left before Orlando!

Kind readers,

soon I shall be packing my bags and heading for Orlando… Egad. Five days left.

This week, I crossed over to the Dark Side and acquired a BlackBerry. I must confess that the thought of travelling with the small device (which I have named "Severus" -'tis black and has a black casing) is rather comforting. Despite the ambivalence I often feel when it comes to electronic gadgets, I am apparently meant to be a 21st century mystic!

Learning to use the BlackBerry has been less daunting...
