POETRY: THE GOOD THING ABOUT BACKSTABBERS (IS THAT WHEN THEY FINALLY REVEAL THEMSELVES YOU CAN THEN CLOSE THE DOOR UPON THEM FOR GOOD, LEAVING THEM TO SEETHE AND CHASE THEIR ENVIOUS TALES AROUND, TRAPPED INSIDE AN ANGER THAT THEY WILL NEVER ESCAPE FROM NOR

You were not born an Asshole,

your weak soul and cowardly condemnation of anyone else

in your vicinity

daring to wear a happy smile

or cheeky enough to warrant attention and praise

formed you into the perfect specimen of one.

Eating your character like a malignant cancer,

you deserve those squirming, sleepless nights,

the hilarity of your self-imposed agony

is really the greatest horror of it all.

Have some pride you fucking loser,

oh yes, silly me…you cannot draw on what is not there,

it’s like asking dogshit not to be dogshit!

IMAGINALIS NEWS – TUESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2015

Cover reveal for Katerina by Erik Hofstatter

“Bawdy, salacious and endlessly sweet, this is pure smut with a heart of gold.” ~ Karen Runge on my upcoming novelette KATERINA

“It’s without doubt the most raunchiest piece I’ve written to date.” ~ Erik Hofstatter

KaterinaErik has also entered a film challenge: “I stumbled upon an interesting competition last week, called The 15 Second Horror Film Challenge. It’s a non-profit on-line contest where celebrity guest judges will choose the Top 3 winners and horror fans will determine the Audience Award. Now I don’t know the first thing about filmmaking, but as a true horror fan (and a horror writer) I decided to give it a go, purely for fun! The contest is free, open to anyone and you can submit as many entries as you like by October 21st 2015. My short film is entitled Disembodiment and features my better half, the Academy Award-winning actress (not really) Sorrell Akona Jade Hatt. A sneak peek can be seen on their website. Celebrity judges will include the legendary Cenobites themselves (Barbie Wilde and Nicholas Vince) and many others! Premiere will be on the 15 Second Horror Film Challenge website and across their social media platforms on Halloween.

“To view the entries please visit www.15secondhorror.ca

The Road to Shambala by Josh Reynolds

Pro Se Productions in conjunction with Altus Press presents a new volume in its PULP OBSCURA line. Originally written under the pen name of John Grange by Victor Rousseau Emmanuel, Robert Leslie Bellem, and W. T. Ballard, Jim Anthony was a “half Irish, half Indian, and all-American” adventurer who inherited great wealth and had amazing mental and physical abilities.

And now he returns in a new adventure penned by noted author Joshua Reynolds: THE NEW ADVENTURES OF JIM ANTHONY, SUPER-DETECTIVE VOLUME TWO: RED SHAMBHALA!

Interested? You can read more about this book on the Hunting Monsters website

Strange and Cosy – An anthology featuring Mark Bousquet

Miss Marple, Jessica Fletcher … Don Cuevo?

Cozy detectives work where they live, and solve crimes committed against and by the members of their community.

Often seen as nosy busybodies with too much time on their hands, it’s the mystery that finds the cozy detective more than the other way around.

The stories of their exploits emphasize solving the mystery rather than suspense and violence.

Included here are six cozy detective stories that mix in strange goings on with the cozy to offer a new spin on the genre. Or is the supernatural nothing more than a ruse? It is up to our cozy detectives to get to the bottom of their respective mysteries!

The real question is, Can you solve the crimes before them?

STRANGE & COZY features stories from some of New Pulp’s brightest authors: I.A. Watson, Thomas Deja, Joel Jenkins, J. Walt Layne, Aidan Mohan, and Mark Bousquet.

POETRY: JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE IN A GOOD MOOD IT DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE BY PAUL TRISTRAM

Be careful when you walk out of your front door, of a morning

with that brilliant, dazzling smile upon your beautiful chops

and that childlike twinkle in your winking eye.

My God, you are just asking for trouble

and serves you damned well right when it comes along.

You can’t just walk about the place like you own it,

upsetting people with your whistling good humour

and spring in your happy step, you’re just taking the piss.

How dare you rub their faces in your sense of well-being,

reminding them just how pathetic, miserable, bitter, mean

and twisted they have let their rotten Souls become.

The very cheek of you is disgusting and astounding,

there should be a Law against it, they should bring back

hanging or maybe the stocks in the Town’s Centre even.

Christ, the crowd would be massive, you’d not find one

friendly face amongst them and you’d know all of them.

They’d be pelting bricks not cabbages, and you’d deserve it,

you’d soon have ‘a care in the world’ then, you Annoying Cunt!
