POETRY: THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT BY PAUL TRISTRAM

Never give anyone

‘The Benefit Of The Doubt’

Whenever someone seems like

-or they are beginning to be-

a Cunt,

You are never Wrong!

In fact,

you are probably

only just noticing

the Tip of

the Iceberg!

POETRY: ELECTRIC FENCE BOOGIE BY PAUL TRISTRAM

Walking along the side of the golf course

one day, my dog banged its arse

against a white electrical fence wire

(Put there to keep the rabbits out!)

After yelping and jumping like crazy

it turned around to see only me

in the nearby vicinity and I got the blame,

even though I was thirty odd foot away.

You cannot explain electricity to a dog

and you shouldn’t feel guilty for something

which you have not taken any part in,

yet, I tried both for awhile until sensibly

deciding to take our walks elsewhere.

POETRY: BROOMSTICK BITCH ON FIRE BY PAUL TRISTRAM

The stretchmark’s upon her grotesque body

are from giving birth to petty spells.

A spoilt child with a tedious bad temper,

manipulating lost and lonely peoples vulnerability.

Using absolutely everybody in her selfish game

of twisted, deranged megalomania.

A little Hitler, hiding the many cracks inside,

she emotionally blackmails one and all.

Poking Karma in the eye, thrice daily

whilst adding more filth to her compost heap soul.

POETRY: DEAL MAKER BREAKER BY PAUL TRISTRAM

“Why are you crying again?

That’s three Wednesdays in a row, now.

If it keeps up I’m gonna stop meeting you

for lunch every week, it’s depressing, mun.”

“Oh, we’ve split up again

and he’s sleeping on his mate Steve’s settee,

I hate him, he’s always taking him away

from me, the Bastard!”

“What happened this time?”

“Well, I only told him to change his jeans?”

“Why, did they have something on them,

were they dirty, or creased or ripped even?”

“No, No, I had just laid out my favourite pair,

he did the same the other week with that jumper,

do you remember all that fuss?”

“Yes, I remember!”

“I just don’t know what his problem is?

I mean, I try my best to make him a better man,

I really do but he throws it back in my face,

it’s heart breaking, I don’t know why I bother?”

“Jesus Christ, he was thirty years old

when you met him, he’s been dressing himself

for most of his life and he always looks smart.

I bet he’s not always trying to dress you, is he?

Last month you threw out his Sex Pistols Cd’s,

seriously, what is wrong with you?”

“I replaced them with Oasis,

I thought we could both sing along to them?”

“But he likes the Sex Pistols!”

“Nothing but a bloody racket, if you ask me.

It’s my house too, he needs to learn to share.

he’s not Single anymore, you know!”

“No, he’s not…but he might soon be!”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Look, I love you, you’re my only sister

but get yourself a little lapdog and dress that up,

leave your man alone to do what he likes

as long as it ain’t hurting anybody.

You ‘re gonna lose him, I mean it,

because you’re driving him nuts

and you’re taking me along for the bloody ride!”

POETRY: FREE VERSE FROM AN IMPRISONED SOUL BY PAUL TRISTRAM

Tonight, I beg the heavens

to save me from this living hell.

Tonight, I beg this living hell

to merely let me live.

Unfortunately, neither one responds.

And as I let out a scream,

any optimistic part of my dream,

is torn away and cast

to the waiting, laughing winds.

To fly off at impossible angles,

first around and then again around, me.

Then off with icy eagerness

back to all the summery things

which I happened to miss

along this strange, strange journey.

It serves my right for being

… for being

… for being

… for being

POETRY: BY HOOK OR BY CROOK BY PAUL TRISTRAM

‘A morsel here and a morsel there

a shameful morsel hiding everywhere’

Am I ever so terrible, really,

to be delighted by your orchestrated fall?

My cleverness Lies

in the tiniest of details.

It’s more like gardening than deception, surely?

Deviousness is an art form,

I’ve been honing it since birth.

My happiness comes with your crumble.

You shall not be better than me

if I can just get you down onto your knees.

I’ll invent, scheme and belittle.

With my rumbling grindstone of envy

I sharpen up slanderous knives

ready for the back of your reputation.

As I squirm and seethe

in the complete opposite of ecstasy.

I unconsciously let you win

by daily poisoning

everything good, nice and of merit within me.
