Fall Bits

Debbie and Chris, great questions yesterday! I answered them in the comments.

Now, for some autumn-related Bits & Pieces… fall

1) Favorite must-have Halloween candy?

2) Favorite costume you’ve ever worn (you can include childhood)?

3) Most memorablecostume you’ve ever seen someone else wear (memorable could be good or bad)?

4) Have you ever done theme dressing with anyone? What was the theme?

Ask and I Shall Answer…

Every once in a while, I like to change “Writing Thursday” up a bit. Sometimes I like to put up writing prompts, sometimes I talk about certain aspects of the writing process, and sometimes I dust off a question that’s come through my website and share the answer with all of you.

Since I haven’t done the question thing in a while, I don’t really have a stockpile from which to draw.

So, if you have a writing-related question (about the craft of writing, the business of writing, whatever), post i...

Coming Up on 26

As of this moment (7:30 a.m. ET), I’ve been awake for 25 1/2 hours.

Why? Well, I’m editing (which is taking a while) and I had to drive five hours (round trip) last night to pick up my daughter from school.

I still have at least another 3 to 4 hours (at least) of edits to gobefore I can even think about napping for a while.

Crazy, huh?

And, as usually happens when I’ve pulled an all-nighter, my thoughts are going off into odd places.

Like an 80′s party I want to have…

And whether churches who used...

On the Page

I typed “The End” on my latest manuscript yesterday, and now I’m doing my read-through/edit round.

Once that’s done, I get to have about two weeks to get caught up on life, plot and research the next book (Amish # 5), and read for pleasure. I have two books ready and waiting to be devoured, and I can’t wait. Both are women’s fiction titles, and both were mentionedto me during a call-out for book recommendations on my Elizabeth Lynn Casey Facebook Author Page.

What are you reading this week?

On The Horizon

Wow. What a busy, busy weekend.

Fortunately, everything about my daughter’s birthday went off without a hitch, so that was great! She told me last night it was one of her “best weekends ever.” :)

Today, I’m finishing up the first book in my brand new series and then moving into edit mode. During edit mode, I print up the entire document (this one will be approximately 320 pages) and read it from start to finish–catching typos (I hope), story mistakes (these are the most important and this stage)...

Birthday Bits

A bit late with the Bits this morning. I’ve been baking up a storm (for DD # 2′s backyard movie birthday party) since I woke up.

But now that everything is either done, or almost done, I can get to our questions for the week.

1) If you could relive one of your birthdays, which would it be? Why?

2) What kind of cake do you like for your birthday? Is there a specific must-have on your special day?

3) What was the best birthday give you ever got?

4) What’s your sign?

Seasonally Speaking

Today’s writing challenge (c’mon, everyone, give it a shot)…writergirl

In a short paragraph, put us into a season of your choice. Show us, through our senses, whether we’re in spring, summer, fall, or winter.

Have fun!

A Milestone Birthday

Later this week, my youngest turns sixteen.

Six-teen.

In the blink of an eye she went from newborn to sixteen and I’m not quite sure how…or when.

Now, when I was growing up, the big part of turning sixteen was learning to drive (somethingI’ll do with her in the spring). In the area of New York where we happen to live, people throw these lavish Sweet Sixteen parties (and by lavish, I mean, wedding-like).

Halls are rented. Caterers are brought in. Gowns are rented.

It is, in a word, nuts.

Drive forty...

An Update, An Observation, and a Picture

**An Update: Nine days from now, I’ll be pressing “send” on the first book in a brand new series (expected debut in early 2016). So from now until then, I’ll be writing like a madwoman.

But come that day? I will be reading…and maybe doing a little binge movie watching…and semi-actively turning my attention to the Amish Mysteries and the next book I have to write in that series.

Busy-ness, I tell you.

**An Observation: Last week, while traveling to Bermuda via cruise ship, I happened to look arou...

Unplugging

I’m back after a week of being “unplugged.”

No phones. No texts. No email.

It’s amazing how much more relaxing life can be without all of that.

Which brings me to two questions for all of you… What’s the longest you’ve “unplugged?” What one electronic medium could you give up completely?
