Caption This
For today’s writing post, I’m introducing the picture below. All you have to do is caption it. Be funny, be serious, caption it in the third or first person. It’s up to you…
Ready?

Is There More?
Okay, I have a book-related question for you.
When you stumble across a book you like by an author you’ve never tried before, do you look them up afterward to see what else they’ve written? And if you do, do you tend to seek out another book by that author?

Taking The Day
Wow. What a busy last few days. Between my trip to Nashville (which got me home late Saturday night) and the MS walk (which had me up early yesterday morning), I’m a wee bit tired today.
So I’m taking the day off to recharge my personal battery.
I’m sure I’ll sneak in some non-writing but still work related stuff (I can’t help myself), but all in all, it’s going to be a chill day.
One of my plans for my chill day?
To settle down on the couch and watch The Intern (love, love, love that movie)....

Music City Bits
You know the saying about when in Rome, yes? Well, today’s “Bits” are going to have a country twist.
1) Whether you’re a die-hard country music fan or not, what’s one country song you like?
2) When you close your eyes and picture “country” what one article of clothing do you immediately see?
3) Have you ever been to Nashville?
4) First country musician that comes to your mind?
That’s it for today. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Three Parts
As is the case with just about anything in life, there is a beginning, a middle, and an end.
When I’m working on a manuscript, each of those three distinct sections brings with it some distinct challenges.
The beginning (where I am now) can be tricky. You have to appeal to (and hook) your reader pretty quickly. You have to introduce your characters so they are real people without boring your reader with backstory. If you’re writing a series, you have to be aware of the readers who will find you...

Theme-ing It Up
So I have a MS thing coming up that will take me out of town for 48 hours. One of the events is a group dinner where they want us all to dress in country (as in country music/Nashville-ish) attire.
I’ve got boots that will work.
I’ve got jeans that will work.
But I’ve got to go in search of a shirt that will work.
On one hand, it’s kind of a pain. But on the other hand, it’s kind of fun to do something a little different. What I’ll end up looking like though, is anyone’s guess.
Have you ever...

Number Eleven
It was eight years ago this month, that I got word I would be writing the Southern Sewing Circle Mysteries for Penguin Publishing’s Berkley Prime Crime line. That first contract was for books 1-3. I spent the next few months writing book # 1 (Sew Deadly).
Sew Deadly debuted in August 2009 and earned me my first “national bestseller” status. Twoweeks later, the publisher ordered up books 4-6.
Today, I’m proud to say that book # 11 in the series–NEEDLE AND DREAD–is now available.
If you’ve fol...

The Start
Well, that weekend went by much too fast, didn’t it?
Sheesh.
Today though, I start a new book–the 12th book in my Southern Sewing Circle Mysteries.
The first day of a new book is both exciting and daunting all at the same time. Exciting, because I know that blank page staring back at me will be the start of a whole new story. Daunting, because that blank page needs to turn into roughly 300 full pages.
Fortunately, the plot of this book is ready to go. And the characters, well, they’re old fri...

Which One Bits
Bits & Pieces time…
1) Plane or car?
2) Meat or pasta?
3) Bake or eat?
4) Cars: American or Foreign?
Have a great weekend, everyone!
