Behind The Scenes…of Me
Sorry for the late post today. I got locked out of my websites over the weekend (messed up a password) and was unable to get on here until just now.
So today, I’m going to send you here: http://www.kittlingbooks.com/2012/10/scene-of-crime-with-author-laura.html. It’s an interview post with me about lots of things–my favorite books, my favorite bookstore, my bucket list, my favorite places to go, etc. Cathy did an amazing job on layout, even showing pictures to coincide with some of my answers....

Five Words
I’m putting you back in the classroom today–in the dreaded (at least for me) poetry writing unit.
Pick a subject (like autumn or winter or something) and throw out five words that describe your word…giving each one a rhyming word to go with it. If you form an actual poem (funny works, too) in the process, we’ll be ultra impressed. If not, that’s okay, too.
I’llstart one here with Autumn (reminding you all that I stink at poetry).
Tree–Free.
Color–duller.
Breeze–wheeze.
Crisp–whisp.
Crunch–brunch...

Everyone Has A Must Watch, Right?
When I was little, Sunday night was a given when it came to where I’d be/what I’d be doing. The Wonderful World Of Disney had all of us on the couch, watching whatever movie the hour-(or was it two?) long special had in store for us that week.
Afew years later, my big nightmorphed to Monday and Little House on the Prairie (I loved Pa). Homeworkand chores were always done before eight o’clock rolled around because I didn’t want to miss a single episode.
The next big must-haves for me became Gen...

It’s Here!
STORYBOOK DAD officially hits store shelves today!!
This particular book is my 4thpublished romance, my 14th published book overall, and, perhapsone of the nearest and dearest to my heart. It’s the story ofEmily Todd (a young woman who has recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis), Mark Reynolds (a young widower who is still struggling to come to terms with his wife’s death), andhis son, Seth.
When it comes to writing, we’ve all heard the expression, “write what you know.” And I guess I...

The Precious First
So I sat down over the weekend and really started writing this women’s fiction proposal I’ve been hankering to write (I messed with it some last week, but really started writing yesterday). And despite the fact, I’ve written nearly twenty complete books at this point, I still find myself more than a little bit scared.
I guess some of that is because it’s something new. I’ve written (and seen published) four romances novels, and ten (with two more on the very immediate horizon) cozy mysteries…b...

Some More Pieces
Today’s Bits & Pieces are brought to you by me.
1) Who was your favorite celebrity as a child?
2) If you were invisible, where would you go?
3) You have a ten minute speech to give at a high school. What would you talk about?
4) Who do you admire?
5) What traits in others are you attracted to?

If I/You Were President, I/You Would…
When you were little, did you have to write an “If I were President, I would…” essay?
I know I did. And, if I went hunting through some boxes, I could probably find one of them. I imagine it would say something like more playtime for kids or free chocolate for everyone–you know, important stuff to a 5 or 6 year old.
In honor of those long ago essays, I’d like to give the current you a chance to tell all of us what one thing you’d do ifyou were president.
Ready? Go.

*Day # 3 check in:...
Smile
Today is picture day at school for Dear Daughter #2. Which, in a nutshell, meant last night was spent laying out the perfect outfit and deciding how she would wear her hair to commemorate her eighth grade year. She made good choices as she looked darling when she went off for the bus, but I couldn’t help chuckling at her predicted blow-by-blow of how the photo session would go:
“By the time girls are in eighth grade, they know their best angle. But do they get to use it? No. The photographer j...

Today’s Guilty Pleasure
My friend, Susan McBride, has a new e-book original out today. IN THE PINK:How I Met the Perfect (Younger) Guy,Survived Breast Cancer, and Found True Happiness After 40.
On Susan’s website she describes the book this way: “It’s my personal tale of being single at 40 (remember the study that said women over 40 have a better chance of being killed by a terrorist than getting married?), meeting the love of my life (and becoming an “accidental” cougar), being diagnosed with breast cancer at 42 be...
