Twelve Guilty Pleasures
Wikipedia defines a guilty pleasure as“something one enjoys and considers pleasurabledespite feeling guiltfor enjoying it. The guilt involved is sometimes simply fear of others discovering one’s lowbrow or otherwise embarrassingtastes, such as campystyles of entertainment. Fashion, video games, music, films, and junk food can beexamples of guilty pleasures.”
While the main definition is pretty darn accurate, I have to say I have absolutely no problem admitting my”guilty pleasures” aloud. I mea...

Scraps
Some interesting Bits & Pieces this week…
1) What exotic pet would you like to have?
2) When in your life have you had a “now or never” moment?
3) What was the first thing you ever won?
4) Did you ever want to change your name? If so, what would it have been?
Have a great weekend!

Stuck
You’re stuck in line (your choice what for–a ride, tickets, whatever) next to a super annoying person. Write an opening paragraph that has us inside your head.
Oooh, I can’t wait to read these…

An Evening Jaunt
I’m heading north an hour or so this evening for a library event in Connecticut. I’ve been to this particular library several times over the last few years and its one I look forward to visiting again.
In fact, library events are my favorite “signing venue” of all. I suppose that’s because you have a ready made audience of booklovers, folks whofollowthe comings and goings at their library enough to a) see that I’m coming and b) sign up to listen to me talk.
I usually spend about20-30 minutes ta...

The Final Touches
I haven’t read anything in the past week. At all. Unless you want to count the how-to steps for making my husband’s birthday cake last night…
So I thought I’d give you something to read today, instead. But, before I do that, I must give a wee bit of background, first.
Back when my youngest was just starting to crawl, I decided to try my hand at writing fiction (which was where I’d always wanted to go with my career). During nap windows over the next five years, I wrote what eventually became my...

Bits, Bits, & More Bits
It’s hard to believe what a difference four days can make, isn’t it? If you scroll down to Monday’s post and juxtapose my words against the scene of the Seaside Park/Height boardwalk burning yesterday, I’m sure you can imagine my heavy heart today.
But it’s Friday, and I think we could use a littleBits & Pieces fun right about now.
1) Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets? Why?
2) Where is the funniest place you have ever fallen asleep?
3)At what point did your life change for the better?
4)What is th...
Bring It On
I’m a little late posting today but that’s because I got sidetracked with edits for the Jenkins & Burns novella that will be going out on e-book very, very soon.
Anyway, I thought of a writing prompt I’m hoping you’ll try here with me.
If you were to write a story about your today, what would the first sentence be??
Ready? Go!

I just received the final version of my next cover–this one for my 3rd Amish Mystery, SHUNNED AND DANGEROUS.
Isn’t it pretty?
SHUNNED AND DANGEROUS will be out March 4th.

On My Nightstand
Recently, on Facebook, I posted something about having a buy-a-friend-a-book day. One of my friends, an avid reader, took up the call and decided to make August 31st be the official Buy-A-Friend-A-Book Day. She went all out making graphics and posting them on her Facebook page and encouraging others to share.
I have to admit, it was kind of fun watching my whimsical update take on a life of its own…
And you know what? I even got a book in my mailbox from a dear friend who happens to remember ho...

New Beginnings
For those of you who frequent my blog on a regular basis, you probably recall my Mother’s Day visit to the Jersey Shore (for a refresher, click HERE).
While I had a wonderful timewith my family that day, seeing the destruction left by Superstorm Sandy was hard. Very hard. Some of my fondest childhood memories were linked with that area and to see it so beaten was painful.
When we left that day, I knew we’d be back. But somehow, summer got away from me and the annual weekend to the beach just nev...
