Madysen Acey’s Story
Madysen was 14 when she first attended my Beautifully Flawed retreat, and has enjoyed going every year since. Though she grew up attending church and believing in the Lord, it was during her third retreat that she felt a new calling; to supporting others in their challenging experiences. Most days Madysen provides inspiration on auto pilot, while simply going about her days as a college sophomore.

Do it With a Friend Workout
It’s a great way to motivate each other, and keep each other accountable. Items you’ll need: workout band a ball (weighted for more of a challenge, but any ball will do!) As you go, listen to your body. If something is not feeling right, double check your form, try an easier version, or move on to the next exercise. Written instructions below the video….

Flipping F.O.M.O.
I had a website and a public MySpace account, where I posted about my surfing, books and travels. But I barely spent any time on those platforms at all! And eventually, when I did get a Facebook and Instagram I can’t say it made my life better. What was I doing before social media stormed our lives? I was out adventuring the island with my friends and family, surfing, diving for shells in the...

Bethany’s Annual Cleanse
Once a year, Adam and I like to do a 2-4 week cleanse. You drive your car every day, and with us, we have 2 kids and we’re always eating in our car, and after time and time our car gets dirtier and dirtier and dirtier. Finally, we just gotta get everything out, vacuum it, clean it, detail it – get it all clean. That’s kind of how I see our bodies. Over time, being exposed to different...

Not Your Average Creamy Soup
It doesn’t include any animal dairy, i.e. cream. Instead ingredients like cauliflower, macadamia nuts and coconut milk, work together to provide a rich creamy taste and texture. I believe our country as a whole needs to eat more plant based, so I hope this inspires you! Speaking of macadamia nuts, while they are a big part of modern Hawaiian cuisine, they actually originate from Australia.

When she’s not writing, speaking at retreats and conferences, or #slayingmotherhood, you can find her at the beach, in the garden, or making delicious messes in the kitchen.

If It Brings You Joy
We are beyond stoked on our move and thankful to have a home; but gosh moving is stressful and it’s a serious undertaking with a family of four. If you’ve moved recently, or moved ever, I’m sure you can relate. There is something about packing and transferring your belongings from one place to another that makes you stop and ask yourself, is all the stuff is really “.

Chocolate Chip Ulu Cake Recipe
Ulu, or breadfruit, is a fruit that grows in tropical places, including Hawaii. It is both rich in fiber and an excellent energy booster. Ulu is a great source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which makes it beneficial for skin and hair, and is a key ingredient for keeping a healthy heart. I’m stoked to have an Ulu tree soon to fruit in my backyard! And I have access to getting them...
