Forward or Back in Time?

If you could travel in time would you go forward or back in time?

I'm torn. I'm a big history buff, so I would love to visit ancient cultures (Egypt, Rome, Greece, India). But I'm a sci-fi fan as well and a glimpse at the future would be mind-blowing.

So what got me thinking about time travel? Well, fellow SFR author, Heather Massey (of The Galaxy Express fame) has done a great post over at Heroes and Hearbreakers: Have Tech, Will Travel: Big List of Tech-Based Time Travel Romances. Here's a snip:

There are two general modes of travel in time travel romances: magic/paranormal (e.g., magic amulet; portal) and scientific devices (e.g., time machine). As a fan of science fiction romance, I gravitate toward the latter. The ability to manipulate the sands of time using mechanical devices is a fun concept. And placing that kind of technology in the context of a romance doubles the entertainment. Click here to read the rest.

She's complied a HUGE list of all kinds of SF time travel romances. I'm going to be adding a few to my Kindle and checking out the Bollywood movie, LoveStory 2050 (LOVE that poster!)

Oh, and my novella, TIME THIEF got a mention as well!

Cutting Back for the Month

In June, I'm teaching my online short story course, SHORT STORY, BIG IMPACT at Savvy Authors. There are still spaces if you're interested in learning everything you need to know about writing short fiction!

I want to give my students the attention they deserve, so I'll be cutting back the blogging a little. I'll be aiming for one post a week (an action romance round up). So if Full Throttle Romance is a little quiet, that's why.

The Romance of Iron Man 3

Apparently after the surprising success of Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr renegotiated his deal and gets around 6% of profits of all his future Marvel films. Reportedly that netted him around $50 million for The Avengers. Nice work!

I really, really want to see Iron Man 3. The trailers have left me super excited and I love the interaction between Tony and Pepper. Alas, I won't get to see it anytime soon.

I did come across a great review of Iron Man 3 that focuses on the romance by Carrie S over at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. Here's a snip and if you want to read it all, pop on over to SBTB:

Iron Man 3: A Review and Romance Analysis by Carrie S at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books

I haven't been reviewing any Marvel movies because generally they aren't very romance-y.  Certainly they can't wrap everything up into a nice HEA, because then there would be no franchise.

But Iron Man 3 intrigued me because it seemed to promise a lot of Tony Stark/Pepper Potts stuff, so I checked it out for you, dear readers (oh, please, like I totally wasn't going to see it anyway).

I have tons to say about the movie but I'm going to focus on the romance stuff here. >> Read the full review here.

Full Throttle Reviews: Against the Edge by Kat Martin

Review by Marcia @ Bookswagger

Against The Edge by Kat Martin (Review)

The hot, rugged former navy seal Ben Slocum finds Claire on his doorstop the morning after a hot night. To be told he has a son and that he is missing inspires all kinds of emotion in the man who never wanted to be the type of father he had. The only person he can slake his anger on is Claire. But how can you be mad at someone who wants to help you find your child as desperately as you.

Claire only knows what she has been told about Ben from his ex. He should not make her hot or think about a future together, it doesn’t help she loves his son like her own and wants to take apart those who have him as badly as he does.

Bookswagger Marcia: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. I am hard on suspense but this is the second book I have read in the series and the one I have been waiting on. There is just something about a hero who is gruff, but has a kind heart he just likes to hide from everyone. We get to see the type of man Ben truly is and he is a Rugged Man like Kat Martin describes him. The action was nonstop and when there was no action i.e. guns, racing to catch a plane. Ben and Claire were embroiled in steamy sexual tension. If you enjoy romantic suspense this is not one you will want to miss, there is a hot ex navy seal,
who thinks his heart can withstand the nice, with a core of steel social worker.

Full Throttle Reviews: Chances Are by Christy Reece

Review by Nina @ Nina's Literary Escape

She is his dream come true. He is her nightmare.
Angela Delvecchio has always dreamed of being an LCR field operative. As LCR’s main researcher, she’s helped rescue victims, but always from the sidelines. Until now. Last Chance Rescue has been asked to assist the authorities in apprehending a serial killer terrorizing London. Angela knows this is her time and her mission.

After the murder of his wife, Jake Mallory stopped believing in anything good. Now, as an operative for Last Chance Rescue, he’s found a new purpose but he’ll never let his guard down again. The beautiful and much too vulnerable Angela is a temptation like no other—one he dare not take. Hearing that she’s going to be an operative is a surprise, but Jake is stunned to learn her first assignment will be to bait and trap the Red Rose killer. Assigned to be her partner, Jake knows he wouldn’t have it any other way. He failed the last woman he cared about…he won’t fail Angela.

Angela thought going undercover as an exotic dancer would be the toughest part of the job, and Jake thought keeping his hands off his partner would be his biggest challenge. They were both wrong. Taught to expect the unexpected, Angela faces events she never anticipated and Jake must allow the unthinkable. Now it’s a fight for survival because evil has more than one face and to stay alive, death may be the only option.
My ThoughtsI was beyond excited when I discovered that Chances Are (a LCR novel) was out! I love this series immensely and was extremely happy to find out that there was more. I can never get enough of Ms. Reece's amazing characters and stories. Reading Chances Are was like going home again. It was great seeing all the previous wonderful characters that you've come to know and love. However, rest assured that Chances Are can be a standalone read.

Christy Reece has written another phenomenal romantic suspense with Chances Are and what a great addition to this spell-binding series. The suspense was well-executed. The chemistry and sexual tension between Angela and Jake were off the charts! Furthermore, Christy Reece has written some of the most sadistic and psychotic villains in her books and Chances Are was no exception.

Chances Are kept me on the edge of my seat due to the great writing, drama, danger, suspense and of course Jake and Angela's beautiful love story. I loved and adored Jake and Angela for their strength, courage, vulnerabilities and love for one another. These two were just the peanut butter to each other's jelly; they just belonged together and I was so glad when Jake finally had this realization :)

Once again, Ms. Reece took me on an amazing joy ride with her story telling. Her characters will capture your heart leaving you no choice, but to fall in love with them. Just like the rest of the other installments in the LCR series, I loved Chances Are. Without a doubt, this is another fantastic addition to the series. With that said, yes I highly recommend this to fans of Romantic Suspense. Christy Reece is an amazing author & you will not be disappointed with this book or this series.
My Rating★★★★★
