Special A?

So uh.... I've apparently been spelling my own name wrong.

I do the author thing, every morning I put my name in a search engine and see if there's any new reviews, see if my stuff available in a new place, and of course, go out on pirate patrol. I always wondered why my stuff wasn't available in all that many places, until I checked the Fictionwise listing for Vampire Fred, and well...

"by Vaughan R. Demont"

I don't remember spelling it with an extra "a". I know Torquere doesn't publish it tha...

Buncha Updates...

Sabbatical Update: Well, less than two weeks remaining now, the stress level has been wavering, but generally on the decline. Mostly been sticking my head into books and games and movies to soak in all that media and rejuvenate the Muse, one of my ideas caused kind of a funny conversation, considering that during one of my Reader Mail Monday eps, I confessed to having written slash-fic for Altair from Assassin's Creed.

This was a spoken conversation, just threw in the acronyms to save some ty...

Today I will write a blurb and synopsis for House of Stone, because I need it done by tonight.

I really wish I didn't suck at writing plot summaries.

*puts on Pearl Jam* Help me, Eddie Vedder, you're my only hope!

Free Fiction Friday - "Let The River Run" - Part 7

Welcome back to Free Fiction Friday!

For starters, I'm not officially "back" from sabbatical yet. I've just been going through the story, fixing up little continuity problems here and there (like in the beginning when Chuck senses that Will hasn't been with someone in 5 & 1/2 months, I made it that that's as far as Chuck's sensitivity goes in those matters.) While I was doing that, I'd add a little here, a little there, until suddenly the chapter's finished. Only took me about a month it seems...

One Day, I'll Show This To My Students...

I also plan to show this to my Mom the next time she asks me why I'm not James Patterson yet.

WILL DRAW FOR FOOD: COMPARE YOUR LIFE TO PIXAR

Seriously, I don't think I could put it any better: Wunderkinds are the exception, not the rule, and the key to making it in the creative class is sticking it out and honing your craft. Granted, I certainly wouldn't mind having the order of success that Pixar had after 12 years. ;)

A Typical Morning

Just get through the next 15 minutes. Then, get through the next. That's the key.

The initial shot of adrenaline, that blast of paranoia and fear that can only be gleaned by keening shrieks of an alarm clock, that's what gets me out of bed and into the bathroom. The clock is placed strategically: close enough to ensure maximum acoustic spread, but far enough to be out of reach of a hand, determined fingers curled into a claw to hit the focal point of cheap plastic emblazoned with the word "Sn...

Poll/Contest Results!!!

Well, it appears that Team Vampire won over Team Satyr, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised given current market trends. No clear winner for the individual characters, looks like everyone's tastes run different. :)

Anyway, I wrote down the participants, put the papers into my fleece hat, shook it up well, and the winner is...

A Winter's Night

Last night I went for a long walk. It was one degree out. The snow crunched, literally crunched under my feet, and my jacket crinkled much like a paper bag. My hands were retreated deep inside my sleeves, my fleece hat from college snugly on my head, earbuds in, music playing on my non-iPod mp3 player, and it made me remember the lengths which I'll go for a moment.

It was at the beginning of 2001 or the end of 2000, just after I'd broken up with a guy who decided we were in an open relationsh...

Why yes, that is an update in my pocket...

1. Had the interview yesterday, and I came home with a thick folder of paperwork to fill out, which is always a good sign. It looks like I'll be on the list for the local school district.

2. E-mailed one of my professors from college for advice on getting an adjunct job, and whether substitute teaching experience actually does matter in the slightest. Going to try to see if I can still apply for a teaching assistantship even though I'm all graduated from school.

3. Probably will be hearing on ...
