Six Links Worthy Of Your Attention

Is there one link, story, picture or thought that you saw online this week that you think somebody you know must see?

Last week, I had lunch with Alistair Croll (BitCurrent, Rednod, GigaOM, Human 2.0, the author of Complete Web Monitoring and Managing Bandwidth: Deploying QOS in Enterprise Networks) and Hugh McGuire (The Book Oven, LibriVox, Bite-Sized Edits, Media Hacks) and - as with all lunches like this - the conversation quickly evolved into something of a human linkbait game of ping...

The Good Old Days

Do you sit around reminiscing about the "good old days"?

As much fun as that may sound, I personally always held a high level of contempt for those who spent a lot of time living in their past. The kind of people who live in the past seemed, somewhat, weak to me. A lot of that thinking was formulated from reading and listening to Dan Sullivan (though I never took Sullivan's, The Strategic Coach, program I did listen to many of his audio programs and read his books). Most of the successful...

A Marketing Revolution

Sir Ken Robinson is a brilliant speaker, thinker and evangelist.

If you have never seen/heard Sir Ken Robinson speak, please stop everything you are doing and watch the video below. It is his second presentation that he has given at the infamous TED conference. I had the pleasure of seeing him give this talk live at TED this past year, and it was even a bigger honor to share the stage with him last month at The Art of Marketing event in Calgary.

In this presentation titled, Bring On The...

First Things First

Strategy before tactics.

"What are we doing on Blogs, Facebook and YouTube?" is the wrong question to ask (so don't let those boardroom discussions get too heated). The better question is: "why?" "Why should we be on Blogs, Facebook and YouTube?" As I've said before, asking "why?" forces a brand to look at the business objectives and strategy first. "What?" is simply a tactic (which should always follow from the strategy). It's the same as when initial brand planning sessions immediately...
