IELTS Speaking New Questions Canada July 2025

Many thanks to J.K., who recently took the IELTS test in Canada – here are the Speaking questions they recalled:

Speaking test

Part 1 (Interview)

– Are you a student or do you work?
– Do you often stay up late at night?
– How do you usually feel the next morning if you sleep late?
– Why do people often stay up late at night?
– What impact can staying up late have on a person’s daily routine?
– Do you prefer working or studying during the day or night?
– Have your sleeping habits changed over time?
– What do you do to help yourself sleep better?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe an older person you admire. You should say:

– who the person is
– where you met them
– what qualities you admire in them

and explain how this person has inspired you.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Do you enjoy spending time with older people?
– What kinds of things can younger people learn from the elderly?
– How are the lifestyles of older people different from younger people?
– Are there any things that older people can learn from the younger generation?
– Do you think older people play an important role in society?
– How can society support older people in living fulfilling lives?

Speaking test

Part 1 (Interview)

– Are you working or studying?
– Why did you choose this field of work / study?
– Do you enjoy cooking?
– How often do you cook?
– What kind of food do you like to prepare?
– How do you usually communicate with your friends?
– Do you prefer phone calls or text messages?
– Have your communication habits changed over time?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe an interesting conversation you had with someone. You should say:

– who you spoke with
– where and when it happened
– what the conversation was about

and explain why you remember this conversation so clearly.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– What do young people usually talk about when they’re together?
– How have conversations changed between generations?
– What are the benefits of studying abroad?
– Are there any drawbacks to studying in another country?
– How does communication differ in professional and personal settings?
– Do you think people today are better communicators than in the past?

Latest IELTS General Training Questions Canada July 2025

Our subscriber J.K. kindly shared the writing questions from their recent IELTS exam in Canada, below:

IELTS Writing Test – General Training

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You recently attended a job interview, but you have not received any feedback yet. Write a letter to the Human Resources manager. In your letter:

– Introduce yourself and mention the position you applied for
– Explain why you believe the interview went well
– Request an update on the result and explain why you need it promptly.

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people prefer hobbies that involve the use of technology, while others enjoy hobbies that do not require any technological devices.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Part 1 (Interview)

– What is your full name?
– Do you work or study?
– Do you often go to the library?
– How often do children in your country go to the library?
– When was the last time you visited a library?
– Do you like chocolate?
– Why is chocolate so popular around the world?
– Do people in your country often give chocolate as a gift?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a free-time activity that you enjoyed doing when you were younger. You should say:

– what the activity was
– where and when you did it
– who you did it with

and explain why you enjoyed doing it.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Is it important for children to have frequent breaks at school?
– How do children in your country usually spend their free time?
– Do you think children today have less free time than in the past?
– What role do parents play in organising their children’s free-time activities?
– Should schools include more leisure-based activities in their daily timetable?
– How does free time affect a child’s development?

– What do you usually do if you can’t find them?
– Do you think it’s a good idea to use smart locks instead of regular keys?
– What kind of jewellery do you usually wear?
– Why do you choose to wear jewellery?
– Do you think jewellery can be an important part of someone’s personal style?
– How has your taste in jewellery changed over the years?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a time when you were late for something. You should say:

– where and when it was
– why it was important to you
– what caused the delay

and explain how you felt about being late.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Why do some people often keep others waiting?
– How do you feel when someone is late for a meeting or event?
– Is being on time an important quality in your culture?
– Do young people and older people view punctuality differently?
– How can people improve their time management skills?
– Should there be consequences for people who are frequently late?

IELTS Speaking Latest Questions Italy July 2025

Here’s a recollection of the IELTS Speaking questions shared by one of our students who recently took the IELTS test in Italy.

Speaking test

Part 1 (Interview)

– Do you work or are you a student?
– Why did you choose that particular job or field of study?
– What is your favourite colour?
– Why do you like that colour?
– Has it always been your favourite or did it change over time?
– Do you think colours can reflect a person’s personality?
– Do people in your country associate colours with certain meanings?
– Do you think colours can influence mood or behaviour?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a situation in which you had to tell a friend the truth. You should say:

– what the situation was
– how your friend reacted
– why you had to tell them the truth

and explain how you felt about it.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Is it better to be honest even if the truth might hurt someone?
– Are there situations where being honest can cause more harm than good?
– Do you think children naturally tell the truth, or do they learn it over time?
– Can society influence children to be less honest as they grow up?
– In what ways is honesty connected to dignity or self-respect?
– Do you think honesty is always appreciated in the workplace?
