New IELTS Speaking questions from Saudi Arabia – October 2025
A special thanks goes to O.H., who took the IELTS test in Saudi Arabia and kindly provided the Speaking questions he remembered from his exam:
Speaking test
Part 1 (Interview)
– Do you live in a house or a flat?
– How long have you lived there?
– Do you live alone or with other people?
– What do you like most about your home?
– What changes would you like to make to your room?
– Is your neighbourhood a good place to live?
– Do you think the environment around your home affects your mood?
– Let’s talk about art. Do you enjoy drawing or painting?
– Did you study art at school?
Part 2 (Cue Card)
Describe a comedy movie you watched at the cinema with a friend. You should say:
– what the movie was
– who you watched it with
– what it was about
and explain why you found it funny.
Part 3 (Discussion)
– Why do people enjoy watching comedy films?
– What makes something funny to one person but not to another?
– Why do some cartoons attract both children and adults?
– Do you think humour is important in daily life?
– How does social media influence people’s sense of humour?
– Do you think comedians and artists have an impact on young people today?

Speaking test
Part 1 (Interview)
-Where were you born?
-Do you work or are you a student?
-Do you usually stay up late at night?
-What do you normally do when you stay up late?
-How do you feel the next morning if you go to bed late?
-Do you think staying up late affects your productivity?
-Do you make to-do lists to organise your day?
-Do you write lists before going shopping or doing household tasks?
-How do you feel when you manage to complete everything on your list?
Part 2 (Cue Card)
Describe a person who wears unusual or strange clothes. You should say:
– who the person is
– what kind of clothes they wear
– where and when you saw them
and explain how you felt when you saw them.
Part 3 (Discussion)
-Do you notice what other people wear?
-What types of clothes do people in your country usually prefer?
-What kind of clothes are suitable for work or formal occasions?
-How do clothing styles differ between younger and older generations?
-Do you think fashion influences people’s confidence?
-How has globalisation affected the way people dress in your country?

Speaking test
Part 1 (Interview)
– Where do you live?
– What kind of place is it?
– Do you like living there?
– What age group do most people in your area belong to?
– How long have you lived there?
– What kind of music do you like listening to?
– Has your taste in music changed over the years?
– Is your taste in music similar to or different from that of your friends or family?
Part 2 (Cue Card)
Describe a piece of good news you heard from someone close to you. You should say:
– what the news was
– who told you about it
– how you felt when you heard it
and explain why this news was important to you.
Part 3 (Discussion)
– Do you think the news shared on social media is mostly positive or negative?
– How do news stories on social media affect people’s emotions and behaviour?
– Why do you think negative news spreads faster than positive news?
– Should people rely on social media as their main source of news?
– How can we identify whether news online is true or false?
– Do you think traditional news sources are more reliable than online ones?

– Which part of your home do you like the most?
– Is there anything you would like to change about your home?
– What do you usually do in your free time?
– Do you prefer spending your free time alone or with others?
Part 2 (Cue Card)
Describe a time when you set a goal and achieved it. You should say:
– what the goal was
– when you set it
– what you did to achieve it
and explain how you felt when you achieved it.
Part 3 (Discussion)
– Why is it important for people to set goals in life?
– What kinds of goals do people usually set for themselves?
– Why do some people achieve their goals more easily than others?
– How can failure help people become more successful?
– Do you think success means the same thing to everyone?
– How has the idea of success changed in today’s society?

Describe a time when you heard or received incorrect information. You should say:
