Interview with Olivia Hardin

1.            Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre?
I’m a Texas native and pretty darn proud of it.  I was inspired to get back into writing when I discovered some fabulous Indie writers.  I hadn’t ever read paranormals and I fell in love with the genre.  It seemed only natural that I’d try my hand at writing about magic, vampires, faeries and other magical creatures.
2.           Please tell us about your latest release.
Bitten Shame is the story of Jill Prescott.  She’s BFFs with the heroine in the first book of the trilogy, Witch Way Bends.  We get just a snippet of Jill in that first book and it leaves us with a lot of questions.  Book 2 is all her book.  There’s a shroud of darkness cast over Jill’s heart.  Her life as a vampire is difficult and above all else, she’s missing the man she loves.  The book alternates between Jill’s past when she meets her lover Doc and her present when she’s trying to cope with life alone as a vampire.
3.           Do you have a special formula for creating characters' names? Do you try to match a name with a certain meaning to attributes of the character or do you search for names popular in certain time periods or regions?
It depends.  The villain’s name in Witch Way Bends was chosen because I saw it listed as a demon’s name online and I thought it had a sinister sound to it.  Some of my characters’ names just popped.  Fun and cute Jill couldn’t have any other name. My muse for Doc looked like an Allen so that became his given name.   And when I pictured the giant shaman Langston, that name just wrote itself into my mind.  In the anthology Cupid Painted Blind I wrote a short story about Langston and explained that his name in old English meant long knife.  Since Langston has Aztec origins, I revealed to readers that his actual name was Itztli which means obsidian knife in his native tongue.
4.           Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
Roon was difficult to write sometimes.  His character was originally patterned after a high school friend of mine.  That friend and I were very close, but also fought like cats and dogs sometimes.  It wasn’t always easy to put him on paper because it was almost “too close.”

5.           Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
Langston is my greatest comfort.  He’s like calm, cooling wind when he enters a scene.  I always know exactly what he’s going to say and how he’s going to say it.  He is the center and the rock for his compatriots in the books and he’s just as steadfast for me.  When I’m stuck and have difficulty writing, Langston has only to come into the proverbial room and the words will flow.

6.           What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
Geez, I have so many favorites.  Still, I think my absolute favorite is the dancing scene.  Music is important to me so painting the picture was so fluid to me.  I love “seeing” in my mind Jill dancing to a suggestive 90’s song while Doc watches in the doorway.  And when he changes the station and they end up in each other’s arms moving to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In love”… ahhhh, so sexy.
7.           What is the most interesting thing you have physically done for book related research purposes?
This past March I made a trip to New Orleans.  I met a fabulous group of fellow writers and we all toured the city and had a great time.  While there I gathered some information that I’ve used in book 3 of the trilogy.  Without giving away too much, I can tell you some of that research involved a tour through very old cemetery.

8.           With the book being part of a series, are there any character or story arcs, that readers jumping in somewhere other than the first book, need to be aware of? Can these books be read as stand alones?
I was worried about whether the books could be read as stand alones so I made sure I had some readers jump into the second book before reading the first.  I believe readers can catch on to just about anything in the books even if they haven’t read the previous.  That said, the books all blend and weave into each other, even back tracking to cover some events from other character’s points of view.  So there will be spoilers if you read book 2 before book 1 and especially if you read book 3 first.  I’d recommend taking them in order.

9.           Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? How do you deal with it?
Yes, I absolutely suffer from writer’s block.  I think the best thing I’ve found for my writer’s block is to take a very brief self-induced break.  It can’t just be a break that happens because of life or work or other circumstances.  Plan your break.  Read something.  Watch a movie.  Do some research.  And then immediately after that short break, force yourself back into.  Write without thinking and caring whether what you’re writing is good or not.  Get the words going and before you know it the block is broken and you’re back in the game.
10.         When did you consider yourself a writer?
I considered myself a writer about from the age of 14 or so.  I was scribbling stories into spiral notebooks and I think if you asked anyone who went to school with me, any of my family, any of my friends, they’d have told you immediately that I was going to write books.  I don’t think I actually believed it until last year when I finished Witch Way Bends and got it back from beta readers… and even then, I’m not sure it actually sunk in until I saw that book for sale on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

11.          What was the last amazing book you read?
The last one was Bride of Fae by L.K. Rigel. I’m a huge fan of L.K.’s.  Actually, I’m secretly a stalker of hers, but you don’t have to tell her that.  I’ve enjoyed every one of her books and this second installment in the Tethers Series is perhaps one of her best pieces yet.  If you like magic and fairies, I highly recommend it.
12.         What can readers expect next from you?
Right now I’m working on a few projects.  One is Book 3 in the Bend-Bite-Shift Trilogy, Shifty Business.  This will follow Gerry and Nicky’s story and I assure readers it will offer lots of interesting spins and surprises.  I’m also working on a short story, “Dark Road Winding.”  This is a ghost story that will appear in the anthology Once Upon a Midnight Dreary.  I’m so excited to be collaborating with several very talented writers on this spooky collection that will be released in October.

Every gift has both a reward and a price, because All of it fits…

Author Bio:
Olivia Hardin realized early on how strange she was to have complete movie-like character dreams as a child. Eventually she began putting those vivid dreams to paper and was rarely without her spiral notebooks full of those mental ramblings. Her forgotten vision of becoming an author was realized when she connected with a group of amazingly talented and fabulous writers who gave her lots of direction and encouragement.
With a little extra push from family and friends, she hunkered down to get lost in the words. She's also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and is sometimes accused of being artistic, though she's generally too much of a perfectionist to appreciate her own work. A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband and their puppy Bonnie.

Guest Blog and Sigma Giveaway with Annie Nicholas

Geeky Girls

I’m one.
I love books more than is considered sane. I’ll rush to the movie theater for the latest sci-fi movie.Yes, I am a trekkie, whovian, and Babylon 5 fan.I know more about vampires and shifters than I know about history.Board games can be as serious as real life.
Most of my geeks are heros. In my new release I discovered that vampires can have their own versions as well.
Clementine has only been a vampire for one hundred years and most of that time was spent among the vampire clans. The last few decades she’s worked as an accountant at Pal Robi inc. and never met a wolf shifter.

Blurb:
To defend and protect, at any cost.
Sam is Sigma of his pack, defender of the innocent and frail. Too bad the one time it mattered most, though the urge to guard the weak runs strong in his shifter blood, he failed to protect his best friend from an attack. Just when his self-confidence can't go any lower, he becomes entangled in a vampire skirmish and is left with an injured female in his arms.
Vampire accountant for Pal Robi, Inc., Clementine can't believe her master would ask her to commit corporate espionage. She’s shot when discovered, but a shifter comes to her rescue. It's as if he's made of her fantasies, and in the few hours with him she lives more than the decades she's spent among her clan.
Hiding with him on the streets of Chicago, in the midst of fighting together to stay alive, can a petite vampire break through her hero’s jaded heart?
WARNING: Hot dominating sex, an action packed evening, and a first date gone all to hell.
Get it at Lyrical Press

Excerpt:
“Clementine?”
“Lightheaded.” She waved Sam’s hand away. His touch stirred too many unexplainable desires. They’d barely met, under terrible circumstances. However, her skin still tingled wherever he’d touched her.
Closing her eyes made the dizziness worse. How much blood had she lost? She glanced at Sam, who lounged on the bed in his torn clothes. “None of this fazes you, does it? The fighting, the running, the gunshots?”
He shrugged. “A few years ago, it would have. Life’s hard in the pack. It’s adapt or perish.” He eyed her as if trying to figure out what species of bug she belonged to. “Thanks for explaining things to Daedalus. We don’t get along too well. He’s not my biggest fan.”
A hot flush washed over her. From lack of blood or from his gratitude, she wasn’t sure. Drinking from him, pressed against his strong, muscled body, would be a fantasy come true. What female hadn’t dreamed of a wild shifter in bed?
Except when imagination and reality collided, all her hidden insecurities suddenly jumped out and did the conga. She was plain for a vampire: short brown hair, little boobs, too much junk-in-the-trunk. Not exactly a vixen of the night those stupid human movies portrayed.
She needed to feed and Sam had agreed to her backhanded request. Licking her lips, she knelt on the mattress. “Where would you like me to bite?”
A crooked, sensual smile spread across his mouth. “Are you always this polite to your meals, Clementine?”
“Of course. Just because we’re not human doesn’t mean we have to act like monsters.”He tugged his shirt off, exposing a hard muscled chest, and then lifted his chin, offering her his jugular.
Hunger growled to life in her body. Overpowering. Fast. Bloodlust seized her, and any semblance of control disintegrated as her vision went red.
Rich fluid coated her tongue. Salty and warm, it eased the cramps in her stomach. She sank her teeth deeper into the source of her bliss, and then popped open her eyes.
Swallowing reflexively, the warmth spread from her stomach into her starved system. She lay on top of Sam, his arms and legs sprawled across the bed. She released her clenched bite on his neck. Oh crap, had she killed him? “Sam?” Her voice trembled and she shook his shoulder. How much had she drank?
He still had that sultry smile on his face as he peeked at her under heavy lids. The dark chocolate of his gaze melted over her body. “Hungry?” His flesh healed where she’d bitten him.
Something dripped from her chin. She swiped a hand across her mouth and stared with widening eyes at the blood on her palm. “Merciful heavens, I’m an animal. I’m so sorry.” The apology didn’t cover her horror. She hadn’t lost control since she’d been a fledgling. “The blood loss--it’s been a long time since the lust has gripped me so hard.” Desire to lick her palm almost overwhelmed her. She needed to feed more.
“I’m used to being fed upon. We’re Daedalus’s main source, but I like your style of feeding better.” He ran his hand over her bare spine and quirked an eyebrow at her. “The wound is gone?”
Now that she’d fed, her body healed fast. Tissue had knitted together, growing seamless, smooth skin where her injury had been. “Yes.”
He raised his chin and offered his neck once more. “Better to feed from me than attack the housekeeping.”

Interview with Deanna Lynn Sletten

--Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre?
I grew up in southern California and moved to a very small town, population 200, in northern Minnesota when I was a teenager. That is a novel in itself! I went to college to study accounting but was sidetracked when two of my English professors asked why I wasn't majoring in writing. From then on, I was hooked on writing. I began my first novel years ago when my children were young and wrote three complete novels over time, which I have now finally published. While trying to establish a novel writing career, I also wrote non-fiction articles for print media, newspapers and eventually for websites. In November, 2011, I decided it was time to pursue my novel writing career and polished and published the novels I had written through the years.  I have not regretted a moment of it!
Memories is in the contemporary romance genre. I have been reading romances since I was twelve, so it wasn't too much of a leap for me to write one. When I was young, there weren’t many novels in the young adult genre, so I read adult romances, some very tame, some very spicy. I love delving into relationships and what makes them work, so writing a romance seemed right to me.
--Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
In Memories, the male protagonist, Michael, is a Vietnam War Veteran who struggles to reconnect with society and people after his experiences in the war. I found him interesting to write about because he was a complicated character. He had flaws as well as redeeming character traits and he was tortured by his memories of war. I had read many personal accounts from soldiers who had fought in Vietnamin order to form the character of Michael. The research I did, as well as the process of creating Michael, was an interesting experience.
--Do you have a formula for developing characters? Like do you create a character sketch or list of attributes before you start writing or do you just let the character develop as you write?
Before I sit down to start writing a novel, the first thing I do is write down the name, physical appearance, age, birth date, background, and all of the character traits for each main character. I want to know them like I would a friend I've known for years so when I write about them, I can do it without thinking. Of course, as the story develops, the character may change or evolve, because in novels you want a character to evolve and not stay the same. And I often add supporting characters as I go. No one lives in a bubble, so unless your novel is two people stranded on an island, then they are going to have friends, family and even their favorite check-out clerk in the grocery store.
--What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
One of my favorite scenes from Memories  is when Michael and Dani visit the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall (The Wall) in Washington D.C.For years, Michael has tried to ignore his feelings about the war and hasn't wanted to face the painful remembrances of the friends he lost in Vietnam. The Wall brings all these painful memories back, but in the end, helps him cope with his loses. Here is an excerpt from that scene:
She knew the instant Michael found the right spot for he stopped and became tense, his hand growing cold in hers. Slowly, they both scanned the strip of Wall before them in search of one solitary name among the many. It was Michael who found the name first, and his eyes locked onto it like a magnet to steel.
He slipped his hand from Dani's and walked slowly to The Wall, raising his fingertips to touch the name before him. William J. Berry. "Billy," he whispered, and as his fingers met the cold stone it was as if he was transported back in time. He could see it all before him in the deep reflection of the black granite. The rice fields with the dense jungle beyond, artillery fire ablaze in the background, the choppers whirling overhead and the intense smell of smoke all around. Then Billy, in fatigues, flak jacket and helmet, his gun slung casually over his shoulder, walking up to him, telling him it was okay, the wait was worth it, he was finally here. Michael bowed his head; his fingers still adhered to the stone, his shoulders shaking as tears spilled from his eyes.

--Do you write in different genres?
Yes, I do. Aside from romance, I have also written one women's fiction/family drama novel and a middle-grade action/adventure novel.  I don't write stories because they are in one particular genre, I write the stories that come to me, no matter what genre they will end up in.
--Do you find it difficult to write in multiple genres?
No. The stories I write are stories that have already been bouncing around in my head for years and they don't all fall into one genre. I'm pretty sure in most cases, my upcoming novels will fall into the range of romance or women's fiction, but I also have ideas for stories I plan to write in the historical genre, family drama and even young adult. My characters come to me, I don't go searching for them, so whatever genre they fall into is fine with me.
--When did you consider yourself a writer?
I have been writing for over 20 years, and it took me most of those years to finally say with confidence that I was a writer. When I wrote non-fiction articles, even though I was paid for them, no one took me seriously as a writer. Then I began writing for a well-known women's magazine website and was paid quite well, and that's when I began to seriously consider myself a writer. In truth, I had been a writer all along, but I guess I thought I had to achieve some level of success to claim the title of writer. Since self-publishing my three novels, I now proudly say I am an author or a novelist, and I won't let anyone take that away from me. What are your guilty pleasures in life?
--Other than writing, what are some of your interests, hobbies or passions in life?
I have to say my hobby and passion has always been writing because all the years that I had to work at other jobs, my goal was to be a full-time writer. Writing is not only a way for me to earn a living; it is also the one thing I love to do more than anything else. Some of the other things that I do enjoy besides writing are reading, traveling, walking the quiet wooded trails with my dog, and relaxing in the boat on the lake with my husband.
--What was the last amazing book you read?
I support self-published authors and try to read as many novels by indie authors as I can. The last amazing one I read was "Leaving Serenity" by Alle Wells. The story not only draws you in immediately but Ms. Wells' beautiful writing style is a pleasure to read. I liken her to southern author Anne Rivers Siddons. All of Ms. Wells' books are wonderful but I believe that "Leaving Serenity" is her absolute best!
--What can readers expect next from you?
I am currently finishing up another romance novel titled "Sara's Promise" which I plan to publish in December 2012. This novel is a little different than my other ones in that the story probably won't make you break down in tears, however, I can't promise that in some spots of the story, you won't break out in goose bumps!

--Would you like to leave readers with a little teaser or excerpt from the book?
Excerpt from Memories:
Dani turned and walked across the living room toward the couple. She stopped short as Michael's face turned in her direction. My God...it can't be, she thought, her heart pounding in her chest. The room swirled around her in that one instant she recognized him. No, this isn't happening. It's not him.
Michael walked up to Dani, his hand extended in greeting. "It's so nice to finally meet you," he said, unaware of the turmoil brewing inside her. "Cathy has told me so much about you that I feel like..." Michael stopped mid-sentence when he was only inches away from Dani. "Well, I'll be," he exclaimed so softly that only Dani heard him.
It was him! Dani's mind raced between past and present, as her eyes traveled slowly over the figure before her. His silk suit was impeccable; his dark hair was groomed and neatly trimmed as was his beard. A complete opposite from the shaggy-haired man in blue jeans, sneakers and T-shirt she once knew. But it was the same man. From his wavy black hair to the tips of his polished leather shoes he was every bit the businessman. But to Dani, he was the past come alive. "Miguel," she whispered, and only Michael heard and understood.

Annabelle is a Science Fiction and Urban Fantasy Romance author, that is, when she's not checking homework or begrudgingly cooking dinner. Wife, mother, and creator of alternate worlds, Annabelle has a penchant for that which is outside the norm.
Her Sociology degree did nothing to progress her writing skills, but has given her the ability to construct worlds that exist only in her head and translate them passionately to the page. The time spent studying individuals, interpersonal relationships, and particularly, women, within the constraints of our society led to Annabelle's unabashed ability to talk about sex as it fits into our modern lives.
She's also the author/personality of The Bombshell Mommy at Vitacost.com, where she expounds her knowledge of being a vixen clad in sweatpants.

Why I'm a Witch Guest blog by Victoria Danann

I have thought of a way I can answer this without being too offensive. So I’m going to take another run at it. If this is not enough or not what you’re looking for, please let me know.
Like most people I was indoctrinated into the form of spiritual expression (or lack thereof) practiced by my family. I was compelled to explore from a very early age and, in that sense, may have always been a witch.
In third grade I visited the school library for the first time and was told I could check out a book. I picked a book on the Greek myths. At twelve, my parents were given a giant coffee table book called Religions of the World. I grabbed it and ran off to my room. There I discovered that there were people with radically different customs and viewpoints. Whereas, nothing religious had made any sense to me up until that point, reincarnation “felt” instantly right.
I was hungry for a look at Eastern culture because, again, I’m a seeker at heart who needed to understand all perspectives.  “New Age” was an Eastern wind that brought Asian and Oriental philosophy and medicine which is part science, part mystery. Meanwhile, I took Religious Studies in college while matriculating a degree in psychology. One of the highlights of that time was a visiting professor from Yale who called himself a philosopher/theologian. I took small, round table classes from him with undergraduate honor students. We asked the great questions of life and religion and took a stab at answers. It was one of my most important dips into the cauldron of becoming.
While I was taking my M.A. in psychology from an institution that is actually a Christian seminary, I delved further into Religious Studies, worldwide fundamentalism, the histories of religions, where creation myths come from, etc. etc. With each step that I dug deeper, the information became more unsettling, and I finally gave myself permission to walk a different path because, at that point, anything else would be dishonest.
Shortly thereafter I began to study Carl Jung and various self-help theories that advanced the ideas of personal participation in outcomes. Or creating one’s own reality. The one that had the greatest impact on me was a program by Bob Proctor called Born Rich. It was a series of DVD’s and books that were basically a compilation of wisdom on the topic. Think The Secret on mega steroids. Later on I would come to understand that the techniques Bob Proctor was trying to teach sales people everywhere were just witchcraft by another name. He might object to that characterization, but it’s unlikely he will read this. If I’m wrong, sorry, Bob. I still love you.
I explored white and green craft. I traveled far and wide, studied from masters of various disciplines and programs including chaos magick, then set about experimenting with what does and does not work for me. Of course that is always changing because we can’t cross the same river twice. When we turn around to come back we find the river has changed and so have we.
On my journey I have seen and done some extraordinary things. There have been many failures, many dead ends, and a couple of near mishaps, but there have also been amazing encounters with coincidence (synchronicity). Along the way I learned how to hear my inner voice and trust it. I learned which dreams to pay attention to. I learned what to ask for and how to ask.
When I reached the point where I thought I had something to teach, I founded a school and have graduated hundreds of students who would say they practice the Danann method of the magickal arts. There’s nothing more satisfying than having people say their lives are richer because of something you shared.
I would answer to the tags witch or magician interchangeably. I’m a work in progress as is the expression of my spiritual impulse.

Book Description:
Minutes ahead of inevitable assassination, Elora Laiken is forcibly transported to an alternate dimension similar, but not identical, to her own. She is stranded. Alone. Far from home. A stranger in a "strangish" land.

Of course a girl could suffer worse problems than having gorgeous suitors. Perhaps more importantly, in the midst of an epidemic of vampire related abductions, can she stay alive long enough to choose between an honor debt, true love, or the breathlessness of single-minded passion?

My Familiar Stranger is a full length, stand alone, Paranormal Romance novel that also sets up the foundation for the Black Swan series. It is loved by fans of paranormal romance, fantasy romance, and urban fantasy.

Erotica quotient: A few steamy scenes. No menage. No BDSM.

Author Bio:

For the past thirteen years, Victoria has illustrated and authored Seasons of the Witch calendars and planners.

Though works of fiction are a departure for her, she has had this series simmering on the back burner of her mind for years. In addition to authoring and illustrating Seasons of the Witch, she plays rock music and manages one of Houston's premier R&B/Variety/Pop bands.

This series will include some of my actual experience in the paranormal with fictionalized anecdotes from my journals during the years when I was a practicing "metaphysician", but most of the material is fantasy.

Interview and Giveaway with Karen Y. Bynum Author of Witch Way to Turn

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre?
I’m a sassy southern girl who loves 80s music, anything random and the smell of a Sharpie. I know, the Sharpie thing is a bit odd. lol I get very cranky when I’m sleepy (just ask my hubby) and the Banshee (that’s what I call my hunger) comes out when I’m starving (ask anyone who has been around me when I’ve missed a meal). You’ve been warned. Bwahaha. I absolutely adore the young adult genre because of the teen angst and the urgency. The paranormal side mixes the unknown with desire…a desire to be different or to be normal. It’s always exciting to see which side the heroine/hero fall on.
What is it about the paranormal, in particular vampires, that fascinates you so much?
The brooding conflicted persona vampires give off. They are struggling with this inner lust that could easily overtake them if not carefully guarded. And for some, it does rule their lives. The paranormal world is filled with creatures that could just as easily be living in our world…hidden away…watching us. Their mysterious ways fascinate me :)

Do you have a special formula for creating characters' names? Do you try to match a name with a certain meaning to attributes of the character or do you search for names popular in certain time periods or regions?
My special formula is to Google baby names. (Side note: if I find a name that’s popular now, I almost always won’t use it.) I normally know the first letter I want the name to start with and then I go from there. Sometimes I go by the meaning of a name, but most of the time I’ll come across a name and I just know… That’s the one! For me, my characters’ first names never change once I find that particular one. But a lot of times their last names change. A lot.

Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
I really enjoyed writing Dandelion Peace Camp’s character (her nickname is Dandi). The name alone sold me. It came to me as I was driving on the interstate to go visit a friend in Virginia Beach, Virginia one Saturday afternoon. I was about halfway through writing the first draft when Dandi just appeared. I hadn’t planned on her being in the story at all. Didn’t know to expect her. But there she was. I don’t want to give too much away about her, but I will say that she is a sixteen-year-old vampire whose mom was Cherokee and dad was a hippie… Thus, the name. She’ll eventually become a really close friend of Breena’s.

What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
One of my fave scenes is when Breena discovers what she is. She totally freaks out. Doesn’t believe it. She tries not to think about it, but there comes a time when she must accept it.

What is the most interesting thing you have physically done for book related research purposes?
Well, that’s an excellent question. When I went to have my author photographs taken, I decided I wanted to get-into-character by taking a picture of me pretending to be my heroine from Witch Way to Turn. So I did! The photographer and I walked out into the woods and did lots of poses with me pretending to “shoot light” at an invisible attacker. It was awesome! Later she went in and added the rays of light coming out of my hands. I’ve yet to post that picture on any social media though. Wonder if people would like to see it? lolz
Can you tell readers a little bit about the world building in the book/series? How does this world differ from our normal world?
The world I’ve built is within our normal world. However, the mundanes don’t know the supernaturals exist. All supes feed off mundanes (whether it’s blood, soul, flesh or energy) in order to live. The Witches Council (WC) governs the supernatural world, and they are very strict about not overpopulating the world with supes because there has to be enough food (mundanes) to sustain them. It’s a vastly growing concern, and the political platform for the president of the WC.

Do any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and what are they?
Why yes, they do! :) Breena Cross (the heroine) has inner dialogue running through her head all the time. Oh, and she loves to eat breakfast food! Orin Heider (the preternatural assassin love interest) often speaks before he thinks. Myles Young (the vampire convict love interest) is extremely protective of the ones he loves.

What was the last amazing book you read?
I just finished reading an adult romance titled Only Scandal Will Do by Jenna Jaxon. It was fantastic! I don’t normally read historicals, but this book was so captivating. From the moment the heroine was kidnapped and sold for auction at a brothel, I was hooked. I had to know what would happen to her, and how she’d be able to find her happily ever after. Highly recommend it!
Where is your favorite place to read? Do you have a cozy corner or special reading spot?
I love to read curled up in my favorite fuzzy green blanket. It’s also a fave of my spoiled rotten pup named Rusty, so I have to fight him for it sometimes. lol Normally I brew a cup of hot tea (even during the summer), curl up on the sofa with Rusty and read away!
What can readers expect next from you?
I’m hard at work on book #2 in the Witch Way series! Lots of things happening with my girl Breena!
I also have a demon-slaying unicorn story title Running From Shadows that I hope to have published in the near future. It’s about a unicorn shifter who must choose to kill the boy she loves to save her coven from the shadow demon who lusts after her soul.

Would you like to leave readers with a little teaser or excerpt from the book?
I’d love to! Here’s a mini-excerpt with Breena and Orin…
Orin caught her hand in his and twirled her around to face him as if they were going to tango.
“Doesn’t matter to me.”
“What does matter to you?” She bit her lip. It was a bold question, but he made her want to leap outside her comfort zone.
“Until the other night, not much.”
“What changed?”
Wrapping Breena’s arms around his neck, Orin drew her into him until their legs twined together. “I’ve found something worth dying for.”
“Don’t most people want to find something worth living for?”
“How hard is it to live for something? To die for something is beyond most people.”
“You know, that was kinda poetic.” She tilted her head up toward him.
He tightened his arms around her. “Not meant to be poetic.”
“How’d ya mean it?”
“Death is risking it all.” He leaned down, his breath warm on her lips. “And I would, Breena. I would risk everything for you.”
He pressed against her, close enough that she could feel his heart beating fast against her skin. A soft heat warmed the gold in his mesmerizing eyes, and his mouth was right there, full and oh so inviting…

Author Bio:
Karen Y. Bynum is an author of young adult paranormal fantasy.  Her novel Witch Way to Turn is published through Lyrical Press.  She grew up in Hickory, North Carolina where mountains and magic surrounded her.  Even as a child, she wrote her own faery tales and prattled incessantly to her imaginary friends.
After graduating from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Communications, she went on to become certified in culinary arts from The Art Institute of Charlotte.  But it wasn’t until her aerospace engineer husband accepted a job in Virginia and they relocated that she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up.
With the support of family and friends, Karen embarked on a journey with the voices in her head.  They wouldn’t stop talking (yes, she does answer back) and their stories took shape.
Karen currently lives in coastal Virginia and enjoys reading, tweeting, writing and spending time with her husband and their spoiled rotten Vizsla named Rusty.

Can you give one guy your heart and another your soul?
The last thing eighteen-year-old Breena Cross needs in her life is more complications. It’s all she can do to balance studying, working, trying to keep her foster-sister safe and drooling over the new guy at work. But things go from complicated to crazy when a fit of rage ignites the dark magic inside her and she finds herself fending off the supernatural underworld.
Myles, Breena’s drool-worthy coworker and vampire convict, is carrying a load of secrets--one of which is that he’s fang-over-lip in love with Breena and in danger of violating the terms of his sentence.
Orin is a soul-hungry assassin sent to kill Breena. However, he takes one look into her eyes and sees his own lost humanity. For once thinking of someone other than himself, he chooses not to end her life, even though it means risking his own.
Despite a convict and an assassin fighting over her, all Breena wants is custody of her sister. But to do this, she will need help from both Myles and Orin. And if Breena doesn’t learn to control the darkness within, she could lose her sister…forever.

Author Bio:

Now On Tour The Corpse Goddess by Kristi Jones

Hi everyone!
My name is Kristi…welcome to the first stop on my very first blog tour! My debut novel, The Corpse Goddess, was recently released by Evernight Publishing. It’s an urban fantasy novel about Valkyries, a zombie (or two), and gods behaving badly.  I like to think of it as a zombie love story with a twist.
Take a look at the schedule below and stop by the awesome blogs I’ll be visiting. We’ll talk about Valkyries, the walking dead and what it means to be immortal! We’ll also have a few giveaways along the way.
Thanks to all the wonderful bloggers who agreed to host me and my new book. I can’t wait to get to know you all!
