Now on Tour The Syrenka Series by Amber Garr

Hello everyone and welcome the The Syrenka Series blog tour.  I am so excited to introduce the complete series to the world and I want to send a special thank you to all of the bloggers who agreed to be a part of this event!
The Syrenka Series focuses on a hidden society of mermaids, selkies, and water sprites. At the center of the story is Eviana, a teenage mermaid being forced into clan politics and responsibilities before she’s had much of a chance to grow up. There’s an arranged marriage, an opportunity for her to run away, and a battle to protect humans that she must deal with. Throughout the series you will see her mature, accept some of her responsibilities, and become the leader her parents always envisioned. Of course there is also a little bit of a love triangle (square?) that resolves itself by the end of the trilogy.
Mermaids are dear to me and I’ve done just about all I could to be like one.  Aside from writing this series, I am a marine biologist by day, a SCUBA diver when time permits, and in the past I’ve been a synchronized swimmer and lifeguard.  At one point I wanted to create gills for humans, so maybe eventually I’ll get to that too.
So welcome to my world where supernatural creatures live side by side with unsuspecting humans and where, for just a little while, you can be one of them.

Arise
Book Three of The Syrenka SeriesBy Amber Garr

Genre : YA Urban Fantasy

With power comes the responsibility to accept its consequences.

After the betrayal of those closest to her, Eviana Dumahl struggles to cope with her new reality. Kidnapped, broken, and confused, she is forced to engage in a war that will alter merfolk politics forever. With her estranged father leading the charge, Eviana has no choice but to stand by his side. Her continued existence hinges on the acceptance of the power growing inside her, even when that means embracing the family’s dark lineage.

Kain Matthew will sacrifice the world for Eviana. And he is not alone. As time runs out, her friends fight to save her life and theirs. An unlikely alliance gives them the edge they need to take a stand, although it keeps Eviana’s heart trapped in the past. A new discovery explains some of her previous mistakes, but it may not be enough to stop her father’s plans. Merfolk, selkies, and water sprites work together to save their kind, only in this final battle, not everyone will survive.

In the striking series conclusion, Eviana will learn the true meaning of power, sacrifice, and love.

Betrayal
Book Two of The Syrenka SeriesBy Amber GarrLife as a mermaid can be suffocating.
Eviana Dumahl has returned home as a clan leader, an orphan, and a heartbroken teenage girl.  Her parents are dead and her boyfriend, Brendan, has decided that he needs some time away.  While battling her inner turmoil, Eviana is forced into the war that Lucian Sutherland has incited amongst her own kind.  With the help of Kain, her friend and formally betrothed, the two work together to prove that they deserve their birthrights as young merfolk leaders.
When The Council requests a demonstration of Eviana’s mermaid powers, she finds herself with an opportunity to win back Brendan’s heart.  But her orders to train with a repulsive merman and the presence of an attractive new suitor challenges Eviana to embrace her leadership and resist temptation. Lucian is after her, and no one seems to understand why.  Loyalties are tested as the casualties increase, showing Eviana that sometimes it is impossible to delineate between friends and enemies.

Promises

Book One of The Syrenka SeriesBy Amber Garr

Genre: fantasy/paranormal YA

Sometimes following your heart can end up destroying the ones you love.

When seventeen-year-old Eviana Dumahl is faced with the responsibility of an arranged marriage and clan leadership, she is forced to choose between the life required of a mermaid and one of a teenage girl simply infatuated with the wrong guy. Kain, her devoted fiancé would make a wonderful husband except that she’s been in love with Brendan, a shape-shifting selkie, ever since they were kids.

Choosing to abandon her family, her clan, and her life with Kain will have dire consequences far beyond anything she could have imagined.

A war is brewing amongst the clans and Eviana unwittingly becomes a pawn in the intricate schemes of a twisted mastermind. With Brendan’s life on the line, she has no choice but to involve those who she once considered friends. Amidst encountering senseless tragedies and immense loss, Eviana discovers that she is more valuable as a clan leader than anyone ever suspected. Her survival is not only dependent upon the loyalty of her friends, but also on her acceptance of a life that she had so adamantly tried to escape.

Kindle Fire Giveaway from J.T. Geissinger Author of Shadow's Edge

Shadow's Edge  By J.T. Geissinmger
Deep within the primeval forests of southern England, a race of beautiful, savage shape-shifters lives hidden from the everyday world. Bound together by ancient bloodlines and a ruthless code of secrecy that punishes traitors with death, the Ikati send their leader Leander on a mission to capture one raised outside the tribe before she can expose their secret. When Leander tracks the unsuspecting outsider to Southern California, the hardened warrior is prepared for a fight—but not for the effect the sensual young beauty has on his heart.
Jenna spent her childhood in hiding, on the run from someone—or something—her parents refused to discuss. She trusts no one, not since her father’s mysterious disappearance, not since her mother’s sudden death, and definitely not since she began exhibiting strange, superhuman abilities. When handsome, enigmatic Leander appears, promising answers to the mysteries that shroud her past, she knows she shouldn’t trust him either. But their connection is undeniable, and as powerful as the enemy hell-bent on destroying every one of their kind…

Excerpt:
“You can learn to control it, Jenna,” he said roughly, moving his lips against hers. He pressed his body hard against her so she felt the heat of him scorch straight through her clothing, burning her chest and abdomen and thighs. Her body arched against the wall, flexed hard against him, aching and wanting and full of need. Her hands made fists and she wasn’t sure if she meant to hit him or if it was to keep from pulling him harder against her.

“Try to control it,” he said, fierce and adamant.

He flicked the tip of his tongue out to stroke over her lower lip and she was flooded straight through with crystal clear pictures of herself in passionate surrender, pictures snatched straight from his mind.

Feel me, Jenna.

Lie back, let me taste you.

Tell me what you want. Do you like this? And this?

Say my name, whispered hot into her ear as he thrust deep inside her and she shuddered and climaxed beneath him. Say it and belong to me.

“Leander,” she whispered, just as her knees gave out.

He caught her up in his arms as she fell, as easily as if she weighed next to nothing, and swung her around. He carried her over to the bed and gently laid her on it, then settled himself on the down coverlet next to her in one fluid motion, warm and masculine and solid against her side. One finger brushed a lock of stray hair from her eyes, leaving a trail of images burning vividly over her skin, and though it was crazy and wrong and impossible, his body beside hers felt so right.

“Just focus on your breathing,” he said, his voice stroking and soft. “I swear you’re safe with me, Jenna—I won’t cause you any harm. Nothing will ever cause you harm again.”

He nuzzled his nose next to her throat and breathed in, a deep inhalation that sprouted goose bumps all over her skin. “I only want to protect you,” he whispered, his lips brushing her neck, “to keep you safe. Trust me, Jenna. Trust me. Let me take care of you.”

That was his hand at the small of her back, fingers spread, pressing her body closer to his. That was her knee drawing up to allow the weight of his muscled leg to fit between hers, the hem of her dress slipping up, leaving her bare thigh exposed. Those were her fingers digging deep into the soft down coverlet as his lips moved over her collarbone, as he murmured words in a flowing language she didn’t understand. That was her hand stealing up to glide over his arm, his shoulder, touching the warm skin of his neck, sliding into his hair…

“Leander,” she protested, her voice caught between a whisper and a groan, already beginning to surrender herself to the flush of hot pleasure his hands brought, his lips brought. Her physical reaction to him was overwhelming: instinctual, pure and primal. Another few seconds and her body would take control of the decision making. “Please, I can’t think—”

But he cut her off with a kiss, deep and hot, and rolled half over her body so she was melting down into the soft, welcoming luxury of the mattress.

He pulled back, panting. “Don’t think,” he said, husky. “Just feel.”

And then he kissed her again and she couldn’t help herself—she kissed him back.

Leander made a sound deep in his throat, a rumbling low growl, like an animal’s. He put his mouth against her ear and rasped out six words that made her heart clench into a fist.

“I want to be inside you.”

He slid his open palm down her bare thigh, curled his fingers over her hip, and rocked his pelvis against hers. She felt the length of his arousal, hard and insistent, and desire slammed into her with so much force she moaned. A hot, eager lust that demanded satisfaction swelled up in her and began to rage and burn.

He caught her wrist in one strong hand and lifted it over her head, pressing it down, captive, against the pillow. He lowered his head against the column of her neck and fastened his lips against her skin, licking, sucking, making her arch against him.

Then he bit her.

It wasn’t hard, nothing that would break the skin or leave a mark, but a native, untapped burst of energy flashed to life inside her under the fleeting sting of his bite. A blinding white current of feral awareness shot through her muscles and blood and nerves as if she were a pile of dry leaves touched by a torch and doused with accelerant…

…As if an animal sleeping just under her skin had awoken to barbarous, savage joy.Jenna opened her eyes and stared hard at the ceiling, and felt something dark within her gather into storm.

Interview with Brit Bury Author of The Darkest Day

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre.
Sure! I am a mommy and wife with OCD and a whole truck load of weirdness. I’m a terrible singer, but that doesn’t stop me from kareoking and torturing other people’s ears on a regular basis. What really inspired me to write paranormal was just that…it’s not normal. It’s fun retreating to a part of my brain where immortals thrive and the world as we know it is always three seconds from a disaster.
What is it about the paranormal, in particular Fionns and Pookahs, that fascinates you so much?
I just loved that they are a little different. Fionns and Pookahs are part of Scottish folklore, however, their mystical abilities, instincts and breeds, were things I created. I just was looking to branch out a bit from the immortals we all know and love.
Please tell us about your latest release. The Darkest Day takes place in modern day Scotland, however, the immortal race has taken over and humans are extinct…or so everyone thought! (Pause here and imagine scary sound effects). The hunky Scottish warrior has to protect the mortal female—who is also the last heir to his enemy clan—and somehow outrun a prophecy that could eternally bind them together or extinguish her soul forever.
Do you have a special formula for creating characters' names? Do you try to match a name with a certain meaning to attributes of the character or do you search for names popular in certain time periods or regions?
I try to stay true to names that match the time period and region. For instance, all the Scottish Pookahs and Fionns from the clan have older Scottish first names. However, the Kerr and Campbell clans are real clans. My family actually is part of the Campbell clan. Izel’s name come from her Aztec heritage.
Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
I would say that Kelvin (the hero) changed the most throughout the drafts. It wasn’t necessarily more challenging, but rather kind of an organic growth. He really came into his personality toward the last go around. It was tricky with him because I had to constantly remind myself, “What would a thousand-year-old warrior do?” Ooh! I should get that on a bracelet! (WWATYOWD?) Hmmm…maybe not…
Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
Ryo was one of the most fun and the easiest. My critique partner says it’s because Ryo is the most like me. To which I replied, “But Ryo’s a full-blown nutter butter.” She didn’t respond.Do you have a formula for developing characters? Like do you create a character sketch or list of attributes before you start writing or do you just let the character develop as you write? I put together a file on each character complete with a picture. It helps me keep things straight. Then as I write, they take on their own personalities throughout the various scenes.
What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
That’s honestly tough. One of my fav scenes is toward the end (and I can’t say…well…anything I guess because it would be a big spoiler. Hint: It involves Izel, The Grim Reaper and an ambush). Is that too much? I also love whenever Ramsey is in a scene. He’s makes me laugh.
Can you tell readers a little bit about the world building in the book/series? How does this world differ from our normal world?
The world is like we know it today, only everyone walking around is some kind of immortal. Full-blooded humans have gone extinct and superior genes have thrived. All the different breeds of immortals know about each other. Every four-hundred-years, the four realms: Earth, Hell, Heaven and The Cypher open up for four days and all creatures can cross freely. This even is called The Court of Contention. It’s a time of great betrayal, war, and death. The series takes place several months before this major event.
With the book being part of a series, are there any character or story arcs, that readers jumping in somewhere other than the first book, need to be aware of? Can these books be read as stand alones? Each book can stand alone. The Immortal Heat series isn’t necessary chronological, but rather each book is about two new characters and their specific journey. All the characters are intertwined though. However, each book explains the world and you can start reading at any stage.
Do any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and what are they?
My critique partner would say I’m most like Ryo. However, I think that there’s a different side of me in every heroine I write. They each bring a different attribute to the table.Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? How do you deal with it? Oh holy crap yes! There are days (weeks) were I can’t put a sentence together to save my life. But I talk through ideas with my critique partner and listen to music. I try to visualize a certain scene and start there.
Do you write in different genres?
I am currently working on a couple projects that are not paranormal. We’ll see how it goes! J
Do you find it difficult to write in multiple genres?
Not at the moment. Both genres I’m writing in are similar in their own right so it’s been fun trying something a bit new.
When did you consider yourself a writer?
Since I was a kid. It was always in me to write and the best outlet I had—still have. What are your guilty pleasures in life? Books and sweets! You could set me up in a bunker that smells like sweat and rot, but if you give me a stack of romance novels and some chocolate, I’ll be happy for days.
Other than writing, what are some of your interests, hobbies or passions in life?
I love doing things with my family. Camping, swimming and hiking with my boys is so fun. I also love to cook and scrapbook.
What was the last amazing book you read?
Larissa Ione’s “Lethal Rider.”
Where is your favorite place to read? Do you have a cozy corner or special reading spot?
I read anywhere. But I do have my “happy” corner where my fluffy chair is and I’m surround by pictures and trinkets of everything I love in life.
What can readers expect next from you?
Book two in the Immortal Heat series is done and will be out soon-ish. I’m currently writing book three and I have a few other projects going as well. It’s going to be a fun year!

Would you like to leave readers with a little teaser or excerpt from the book?Of course! I attached an excerpt from The Darkest Day below.
“Aht, aht, ah Pookah,” the creature tsked while wagging his finger. Izel gasped when the sickly palm on her throat squeezed. Kelvin saw red.The Alp’s yellow flesh was littered with rot and open sores. His eyes and fangs were black, and oozed a foul smelling bile. Kelvin was grateful Izel couldn’t see the grotesque creature at her back. He kept his eyes locked on the Alp’s hands. One flick of his wrist, and the creature could snap Izel’s neck.Kelvin tensed, his muscles flexed, hand gripping his dagger.“I know what you’re thinking Pookah, and I’d advise against it,” it hissed, keeping its hideous eyes on Kelvin. “Mmm, I haven’t scented a human this pure in ages.” The Alp bent its head, running its vile tongue up Izel’s neck. Kelvin heard her bite back a cry of horror before her body noticeably began trembling.“Let her go, beast,” he warned, “and I promise I will make your death quick.”The Alp smiled, tar dripping from its fangs. “You call me beast?” Titling its neck, the creature ran its nose along Izel’s cheekbone. “Do you know what kind of company you keep mortal? That,” it lifted his chin at Kelvin, “is a beast.” It inhaled deeply. “The last being I devoured had fifty percent mortal blood. A rare find you know?” It nuzzled her ear. “But you sweetling, I’d wager that you are full human, are you not?”Kelvin looked into her beautiful eyes. They were glossed over with tears, and the sight of her terror cut his heart in half. An odd feeling came over him. An emotion he’d never experienced in his long, long life. Fear. Not of the Alp as a foe, but of what the Alp currently threatened.Protect her.

How It All Started Guest blog with RS Emeline

How It All Started
A few years ago, after my love affair with writing Fan Fiction came to a sudden and abrupt end, I found myself anxious to write something different. Something original.
I was already a full time student with term papers leaking out my ears and a daughter who hadn’t started school yet. Did I really need to add another poker in my fire?
The answer was obvious.
Yes.
I wrote the first draft of Murphy’s Law in between term papers and class assignments. It took me less than a month to write the entire novel, and I released a sigh of contentment when I’d finished it.
My first original novel was completed.
I was exhilarated. I patted myself on the back for a job well done, and then I sent it off to the person who used to beta my Fan Fiction stories.
What happened next was both a curse and a blessing, and the novel ended up sitting on my desktop collecting metaphoric dust until this year when I blew off the dust, and uncovered my first fictional baby.I was horrified.
So much about my writing style had changed since I’d first typed those words. The characters were sloshy and distracted, and there were so many weak words it was like reading someone else’s work.
Then I began editing, and I realized I could make it so much better. It could be so much better.
You know what? It is.
I don’t expect everyone to love it, but I know there are people who will. The most important thing is that the characters I fell in love with, whose stories wait for the reader between the pages of Murphy’s Law, were told.
As a Fictzophrenic, I did my job. The voices of Alexis, Dane, and their friends are now silent inside--being replaced with the voices of all the other characters waiting their turns.
I hope you enjoy their story.
R.S.

Murphy’s Law
By  R.S. Emeline
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Purchase Link: smashwords
Blurb/Book Description:
Alexis MacGuire is just like other college students. She goes to class, eats pizza, and holds down a job. The difference is, her job could get her killed.
As the unluckiest member of a family of elite assassins, she spends her spare time jetting from one country to another neutralizing scum the government doesn’t want to be attached to--often in unconventional and unplanned ways.
When she receives an email exposing the secrets of her last job she enters into a game of cat and mouse with someone known only as the Hunter. With the help of her brother, her best friend, and an FBI agent who makes her heart skip beats, she must find the Hunter before he destroys everything and everyone she loves.

Short Excerpt Murphy’s Law

I was close to where the car was hidden, and I could see the flames rising in the dark behind me.  Lights strobed from the emergency vehicles, as they tried to control the blaze.  I took a deep breath and walked into the clearing where the car was parked and looked around.  No car.
“What the Hell!” I stomped my foot on the ground and let out a feral growl.
All the markers were where they were supposed to be.  White paint on the ground.  Black X on the tree.  Empty dirt road.  I checked the time.  If I didn't get back to my hotel in the next hour I wouldn’t make my flight.
I looked down at the ring I wore on my right hand.  Two simple silver bands surrounded a Celtic design wrapped around my finger entwined with a shamrock and a blood red stone in the center.  Each person in my family had a similar ring.  Each designed the same, only the stone was different.  We never took them off, because to take them off could mean our deaths.
The rings were our safety nets.  The one way we could protect ourselves when an assignment didn’t go right, when we were in danger, or in my case when I was stranded because some little punk ass stole my car.  I twisted the Celtic band, enabled the tracking device and notified my brother of the S.O.S.  With a sigh, I climbed into the tree and waited to be rescued.  Again.

Author Bio:
R.S. Emeline grew up in the sogginess of Washington State where she nurtured her love of writing with dark teenage poetry. Today she spends her time in the perpetual dryness and sun of the California desert. She lives there with her husband, the Marine; her niece, the Artist; her daughter, the Munchkin; and two animals--King Furry and Mistress Meow-- who are the true rulers of the roost.

Tour Intro Salem VI: Rebecca's Rising Book One in the Salem VI trilogy By Jack Heath and John Thompson

New Paranormal Thriller Will Change The Salem Witch Trials Forever
by Jack Heath and John Thompson
New book, Salem VI: Rebecca’s Rising hits eBook markets July 19, 2012 with a print edition coming later this fall in time for Halloween. The timing of the book’s launch is directly tied to the 320thanniversary of the hanging of Rebecca Nurse, the oldest and last woman hanged during the Salem witch trials.
New author Jack Heath, who is a direct descendant of Rebecca Nurse as well as Ann Putnam, one of Rebecca Nurse’s accusers, collaborated with author John Thompson to pen this novel that is first in a trilogy. Part historical whodunit, party paranormal thriller, the Salem VIbooks match historical details and facts with new perspectives on the true nature of witchcraft in the United States and how the turn of events in 1692 changed Salem forever. Ultimately, Salem VI challenges Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, as it weaves a very modern tale of intrigue, mystery, loss, and conviction.
SYNOPSIS: Former primetime television reporter John Andrews thought he’d lost everything when his wife died but as timeless bloodlines, first crafted during the Salem witch trials, are redrawn he realizes he has more at stake.
Jack is it true that you are a direct decedent of Rebecca Nurse?  Do you really have “Salem Witch” in your blood?
Jack Heath. Yes, through my father’s family I am a direct descendant of Rebecca Nurse and her family.  My ancestors through the Heath blood line married Putnam’s, Newhall’s, Tarbell’s- all prominent and historical early Salem, Massachusetts families that tie to Rebecca Nurse.  My great-grandfather Heath married Susanna Silver Putnam, for example.  The Heath-Putnam-Newhall-Tarbell blood lines go directly back to Rebecca Nurse (formerly Towne) and her family who came here from England to Salem in the 1600’s.
John, for someone who has never read any of your books, how would you describe your writing?
John Thompson:   My writing flows in a very readable style. It’s full of plot elements for suspense, strong characters and action. Also, my style is very visual.
Who is your favorite Salem VI character?
Jack Heath: In writing the book initially, it was Abigail. I got a real sense of her and what made her tick. But Rebecca was really a driving force and I like how she rises and John really got a sense of this too. I like how when she gets really pissed off you can feel her rise within John Andrews to get him to do what she wants him to do.
Have you got the whole series planned out, and do you take reader feedback into consideration?
John Thompson:   Salem VI is planned as the first of a three book series, and while Jack and I have some very definite ideas about where we would like to take the next two books in the series, we will definitely take reader feedback into consideration as John and Amy dig deeper into the terrible threat posed by the Coven.

Short Synopsis
Former primetime television reporter John Andrews thought he’d lost everything when his wife died but as timeless bloodlines, first crafted during the Salem witch trials, are redrawn he realizes he has more at stake. Salem, Mass isn’t what it used to be—or is it?
Extended Synopsis
Having stepped off the fast track of primetime network television news, John Andrews has chosen a quieter life as editor of Salem News, a small paper in a quiet New England town. Life is perfect until Andrews’ wife is killed in a tragic accident. After several years of trying to numb the pain with alcohol, Andrews is visited by the spirit of a long dead ancestor who opens a door to a shocking family history. After he experiences a surreal glimpse into the past, Andrews must confront the question of whether he is losing his mind or whether for several hundred years his ancestors have been engaged in a secret battle with a coven that worships Satan. Fueled by the need to understand whether his wife's death was really an accident or something far more sinister, Andrews, along with his beautiful assistant editor, risk everything to discover a truth so horrifying it threatens to destroy everything and everyone he knows and loves.

Book Description:
Tavin Chauncy thinks he has his work cut out for him when a fellow Marine gets arrested for assault. He soon realizes that it's nothing compared to the way his life gets flipped upside down when a mysterious woman appears in the middle of his living room during a rare desert storm.

***warning contains graphic sexual content not for those under 18***

Creating a Sexy Series in Words and ImagesBy: Alicia R Norman
I must begin by saying I am not technical at all, in fact, I used to joke that I am so heavily right brain that my head tilts to one side.  Because of this, analyzing numbers and complex figures tends to confound me and make me want to break stuff.  Still, I muddle through to comprehension when the need arises.
This fact is what makes my conversion from line art to graphic art so, well, and bizarre.
But as the saying goes, I took to it like a duck to water.
I can blame the catalyst to the desire to simply see it done. This could be why the primary ingredient for creating a series in the graphic novel form would be the sheer desire to do so.
Unless you have a talent for the technical, it will be kind of hard to begin with, especially if you want to learn on your own.  Many friends who witnessed my transformation threw in the towel after only a few weeks into the process.
So, yeah:
1.    Have the desire to pursue graphic novel story telling.
****With the end goal of realizing my dream to marry both words and art in sight, the next step was to find the right kind of program for me.  The list is comprehensive and includes Maya, Renderman, Blender, Carrara, Bryce among others.  Some are very pricey so it is best to start with a small, inexpensive program to get your feet wet.  The graphic illustration community is very supportive as well, so if you have questions you can find links and tutorials from both amateurs and pro’s alike at places like Deviant Art or Renderosity.
2.    Locate a brilliant graphic illustration program and supportive  art community
****The third aspect to creating a sexy graphic novel series is to know what you want to write about.  Sound simple doesn’t it, but panel writing can be the hardest part of the process. For me, I had written several scripts and  even penned a small line art novel entitled LA PETITE MORT which can be found HERE (link:  http://blackegg.com/theatre_lapetitemorte_main.html)  LPM was the springboard from which HEART OF DEATH was born.
Still, trying to map the tale out in this new medium was daunting, even after I had learned the programs.  What I am finding as I work through the storyline however, is that I am getting a greater, more in depth feel for the characters and learning  how to flesh them out in more ways than one.
3.    Create a story
****And fourth but  not least—you have to bring on the smexi.  You can’t be timid or shy about it either.  When I decided to do this I told my husband that it would feel a lot like wearing your lingerie in public.  That feeling hasn’t gone away really—it has merely been transformed from a feeling of sheepishness to more of a  “Yes, baby, I got tits and ass and I am not afraid to show it!” LOL.
BE BRAZEN!!!
All my fantasies are on display—even so, I try not to get too personal about those who do not care for my ware.  If someone says I am smutty and slutty for example, I wear it proudly.  The prudent understand where the lines of reality and fantasy are drawn, what is healthy and what is not.  As for myself, this exercise has made me appreciative of my life outside the realms of the sexual.
4.  Be a proud slut…

And until then, stay naughty children!

Book 1 Act One
The second edition is a revamp of the first HEART OF DEATH graphic novel utilizing a few current techniques to update and enhance the first thirty pages of BOOK ONE ACT ONE
The HEART OF DEATH CHRONICLES is an erotic graphic novel series based on the Perspehone and Hades myth. In this adapation, Hades is replaced by Thanatos Hades, nick named Thanos and Persphone is a lovely Island Noblewoman of mixed breeding.
ART DIRECTION -- the novel's illustrations, panels and layouts employ a number of feels and is not traditional in scope. This mixed media format allows the viewer to enjoy a number of moods captured by the art. There is a blend of styles balanced throughout the book, each employed to give a different feel depending on what the scene conveyed.
STORYLINE:
Deah-Thanos falls in love with the lovely maiden after spying her dancing among tombstones in an old graveyard. Persephone, it would seem, has a penchant for dabbling in macabre musings, art and past times.
Death Thanos is intriguied by his mortal beloved -- only one snag. Death cannot consort with the living or take a soul before their allotted time. He can't even touch her as to do so would rob her of life.
Not to be defeated, Thanos turns to nephew Morpheus for aid and concocts a spell that will allow him to be with the object of his affections.
Thing is--Persephone may be none too keen on being the apple of Death's eye in spite of her dark nature.
ACT ONE introduces details of the couple's initial meeting and focuses on the Persephone the character.
 Book One Act Two
In this installment of HOD, a love struck Death-Thanos enlists the aid of the chaotic and malleable Morpheus to create a sleep related spell that will enable him to seduce his lady love. Morpheus promises to do so but for a rather steep price...
As the spell will take some time to craft, Mo-Mo gives Thanos dream wisps as a bit of a consolation prize. The Wisps allow Thanos to navigate Persephone dreams in order to stoke her ardor so to speak--but he cannot satisfy his own urges..
A freaked out Persephone seeks her friend Abigail's advice on the nightly dream visitations and is none too thrilled when her BFF tells her that what Persi is really fighting against is her own budding attraction to the deity.

Book One Act Three
Persephone finds herself at odds with confusing feelings regarding her dream lover Death-Thanos, penduluming between love and hate. Thanos finally procures the long awaited seduction spell from Morpheus and can now lure Persephone into the underworld to have his way for her--and does. He also makes good on his promise to Morpheus by handing over the Queen of the Shades, Tabietha, who is one too pleased with the arrangement. This series is based on an animated movie created by the same illustrator, Alicia R Norman, who wanted to expound the series in a literary style forum. HEART OF DEATH the animated film trailer can be viewed at http://youtu.be/-luusNvcmeE

Guest Blog with Diane Barr Author of Out of the Shade

Can paranormal beings co-exist peacefully amongst humans?
Of course they can, but opinions may vary depending on which side of the Otherworld you hail from. Humans tread lightly when in the midst of paranormal beings simply because of the wide range of powers the Paranormals have. As you know, humans can’t transform into a different shape or species, they can’t manipulate earth energy to do their bidding or reanimate the dead.
So how do the humans live calmly knowing their neighbor or child’s teacher is a paranormal being that possess these powers? Because of the Supernatural Task Force which is comprised of paranormal beings. The Supernatural Task Force or STF policies paranormal communities and the beings within human populations to ensure the safety of the humans that live around them. The STF has the weapons and authority to neutralize any paranormal being or their power in order to arrest them and take them to a holding cell where intricate spells defuse any paranormal powers from being used.
Out of the Shade by Diane Barr will introduce you to various paranormal beings and the Supernatural Task Force.
Blurb:   Faeries that carry katanas and guns instead of sprinkling magic dust and granting wishes. Dragons that reanimate the dead. Drug-crazed goblins terrorizing neighborhoods. Illegal demons attempting to conjure the alter ego of an Egyptian goddess.
Sounds like something out of a nightmare, right? Wrong. It’s my everyday life.
Welcome to the Shade, where all the creatures of myth hang out and where I, Detective Gabrielle Tate of the Supernatural Task Force, police them. My partner is AWOL and my sexy dragon boss is leaving nothing to chance as we deal with goblins high on Escape and a serial killer—or worse, a nest of rogue vampires—leaving the drained corpses of faeries and cops all over town.
And then there’s the psychotic demons trying to conjure the goddess Hathor’s alter ego, Sekhmet, to destroy humanity. As a faery and direct descendent of Hathor, I’m eager to manifest her power and use it to combat evil. At the same time, I need to learn how to control the accompanying bloodlust. How? By taking lessons from the charismatic leader of the local vampire clan, of course.
If you thought the mean streets of Detroit were tough, you’ve never seen the Shade.
You can find Diane on Facebook, Twitter, her Blog, Website or email.

Diamonds Excerpt by Dawn Chartier

 EXCERPT
Holly couldn’t sleep, so she took a shower and climbed back into bed. The phone rang just as she changed channels on the television. She answered. “Karen. I told you I’ll tell you everything later.”“Everything?” Drake asked, his voice sounding sexy sleepy. “I hope not everything.”Holly closed her eyes, mortified. “Of course not.” She paused. “I didn’t expect your call so soon.”“I can call you later if you like.”“No. Now is fine,” she said. Now was actually perfect. He laughed, and the sound warmed her insides. “So what are you doing right now?”“Talking to you.” Why was she smiling like a love-crazed teenager? She couldn’t do this. She couldn’t feel something for someone she’d just met. This was not like her. Nor was having sex on an island with a man she didn’t know without protection. This would never work out. It had heartache written all over it.“When can I see you again?”Damn her heart. She wanted to see him, too. She had a wonderful time with him. The best time in a very long time. And how could she not trust him after he’d found and then given her diamond back. If a man was after her money, he could have easily kept the diamond and she wouldn’t have known the difference. “Soon.”“When?”“I said soon.” She smiled.“When?”“You don’t give up do you?”“No.”She blew out a breath. “Hold on a sec.” She dropped the phone on the bed, stood, and bounced on the mattress like a ten-year-old, mouthing Yes! Yes! Yes! She calmly sat down and picked up the phone. “Um. Saturday looks open.”“I can’t Saturday,” he said. Her heart stopped for a second. “Oh.” She really wanted to see him. She hadn’t realized how much until he said he couldn’t see her on Saturday. “I don’t know. Let me look…”He cut her off. “What about now?”She froze. “Now? Right now?”“That’s what I hoped you’d say. I’ll be there in ten.”“Wait.” The phone went dead. “You need my address,” she said to no one.She put the phone down, and it rang again. “Hello.”“I need directions.”She smiled, gave him directions, hung up the phone, and jumped out the bed. “What the hell just happened? You’re nuts, Holly.” She turned her straightener on, threw on a little powder and mascara, fixed the front of her hair, and twisted up the rest with a ponytail holder. Her mouth was full of toothpaste when the doorbell rang. She spit then pressed a button on the intercom system. “I’m coming.”Holly threw on cotton shorts and a comfy T-shirt, then ran down the stairs. She swung the front door open and stared. Drake stood in front of her, sporting a leather motorcycle jacket, ripped jeans, and a plain white T-shirt. His black half-helmet hung in his hand. She peered around him. “You rode a bike? I didn’t hear you pull up.”“Bev’s pretty sneaky.” He nodded toward his Harley. She gestured for him to come in. “You named your Harley Bev?”“Of course. Doesn’t everyone?” He placed his helmet near the door on a chair. She shrugged and said, “I haven’t known anyone who owned a Harley.”Drake took a step toward her. His fingers pushed a few loose hairs behind her ear, and she shivered beneath his magical touch. “Well, now you do.”Her insides quivered. She wished he’d kiss her right now. The suspense was killing her. She inched forward and placed her hand on his waist. They studied each other for a short moment. His gaze swept down over her. She felt more comfortable, more alive with him than anything. He raised her chin with his finger and lowered his mouth to hers.

About the Author
Dawn Chartier never knew she wanted to be a writer while growing up.  Sure her parents owned a book shop, and she was surrounded by bookworms, but she wasn’t one of “those” writers who started early.  No, Dawn was inspired by strange events in her life, one was a bitch named, Katrina. Yes, that hur-ricane. But a few months before the storm, Dawn read an article on Marie Laveau in the New Orleans local newspaper and it sparked an idea. She began researching the voodoo priestess, and then Katrina hit.
Out of destruction, ideas formed, characters spoke and plots twisted. One thing lead to another and an author was born. (Must have been something in the air, because a few authors were born out of Katrina’s wrath.)
Dawn Chartier sold her first paranormal romance book, (Not An Angel) to The Wild Rose Press, and her second book, a contemporary erotic romance (Diamonds) to Siren BookStrand. Dawn is a member of RWA, Sola-Writers, FF&P and Savvy Authors. You can find her chatting on Twitter and Facebook when she’s not buried inside of a book or writing her next one.
Dawn lives near New Orleans with her husband, two daughters, two golden retrievers, and plenty of wildlife.
