Fed Court Gay Marriage
In another step closer to legal same sex marriage a Federal Appeals Court in Denver ruled that Gays have a constitutional right to marry.
The three-judge panel in Denver ruled 2-1 that states cannot deprive people of the fundamental right to marry simply because they choose a partner of the same sex.
The court dismissed as "wholly illogical" the notion that allowing gays to wed could somehow undermine traditional marriage. You can read more here. Of course this...

Digital Pub Truths? Tony Horwitz
There's an op-ed piece in The New York Times by Tony Horwitz that discusses a few "truths" about digital publishing and how authors and publishers are dealing with all the changes in publishing. But you have to take into consideration this is his truth and his experience, and it's important to mention he can't speak for all digital authors. In other words, he's coming from a place of privilege where only a select few ever made money writing in trad publishing....

President Clinton recently made a few comments about gay rights that support Hillary Clinton's most recent stand. For one thing he's now actively supporting overturning DOMA, The Defense of Marriage Act, that he signed during his administration in 1996. I remember how devastating that was back then. Tony and I had only been together four years and it didn't give us much hope...in the sense that we would see any drastic changes in the way gay people were treated.

For those who don't know, many years ago actor, Martin Sheen, played a gay role. I think I read somewhere once it was one of the first gay roles on TV...if not THE first. The article to which I'm linking right now does mention this, but I thought it was important enough to mention a few more details. The title of that film was "A Certain Summer," and it was made into a book. I was too young to have seen it when it first aired. I watched it years later in the 1980's.....

Miguel Herrera is the soccer coach of the Mexican World Cup team. When Mexican fans start shouting anti-gay chants he doesn't think it is important and he recently brushed it off as just fans participating in the game. They've been chanting things like "Puto" and it is angering other fans and people who care about rights.

It's an 18,000 word novella that's a little out of my normal range...but it's still m/m fiction, with romance, and what I think is a happy ending. It's not easy to write about it without giving out spoilers, but I can say it's not the typical m/m romance happy ending and it's not a completely dismal ending either. It's just different from other ending...
