Film Review: Burning Blue; No Bad Reviews For Jim Donovan

Film Review: Burning Blue

After posting about the new "Gay Top Gun" movie, Burning Blue, yesterday, I made a point of watching it last night on demand. From what I gather, it's being released in theaters and on demand at the same time. I was eager to watch it partly because I wrote a gay erotic romance, Big Bad and On Top, and partly because I really wanted to see how the subject matter would be handled. Most of the film takes place in the 1990's when gays in the military were u...

"Muffinhead;" Masculine Men; Gay College Student Fights Back

"Muffinhead"

They've been doing a series of pieces called, After Dark, related to gay voices and New York City nightlife over at HuffPo and this one is about a performer named "Muffinhead."

This is from the interview:

What kind of work do you tend to produce? Where do you find inspiration for your looks?

It's all a bit abnormal. Much like taking a piece of taffy and stretching it as far and in the most absurd, unexpected directions possible... that's my aesthetic.

Personally, I'm insp...

"Burning Blue" Gay Romance With "Top Gun" Theme

Burning Blue Gay Romance With "Top Gun" Theme; Big Bad and On Top by Ryan Field

The Advocate online publishes  a "Hot Sheet" to let readers know what's "hot" in gay entertainment. When I spotted this short description of Burning Blue, a new gay romance film, I had to post about it because they describe it as having a gay Top Gun theme. And I wrote a gay romance with a Top Gun theme titled, Big Bad and On Top. The most interesting thing about this is that no one is slamming the film....

Jonathan Groff's Anal Cover; Gay Soccer Player Won't Come Out; Pastor Preyed On Women

Jonathan Groff Sex Scenes

In this article Looking star, Jonathan Groff, talks about how his sex scenes are really filmed. He wears an "anal cover" for the rimming scenes, and a "dick sock" in other scenes.

‘The intimacy on Looking is challenging because we are in nothing but like a dick sock and an anal cover and our legs are in the air,’ Groff explains.

He adds: ‘I feel like in some ways those scenes are the most challenging and easiest at the same time.’

You can read more here. Looking, in sp...

FREE Gay Excerpt; Kathy Ireland Sex Abuse; Anderson Cooper's Birthday

Kathy Ireland Sex Abuse

In a way, this piece about Kathy Ireland and the sex abuse she claims happened to her when she was in her late teens and modeling is indirectly related to a post I did the other day about a grown gay man who actively went out when he was fourteen years old and seduced men in their thirties for sex.

Here's what Kathy Ireland says happened to her:

"There was an incident where a photographer crossed the line with me. He wanted me to pose topless," she sa...

Magic Johnson's Gay Son; Jonah Hill Remorseful; Bonus Excerpt: An Officer and His Gentleman

Magic Johnson's Gay Son

Magic Johnson's son is gay, and he's letting people know how thankful he is to have a family that loves and accepts him and didn't throw him out in the street like so many others. He credits his parents for helping to make him the strong young man he is today.

He points out that as LGBT civil rights victories continue to happen at a dizzying pace, hundreds of thousands of parents are still kicking their kids out of the house.

An estimated 320,000 to 400,000 LGBT youth fa...

Principal Comes Out; Long Beach Gay Mayor; Fanfic Author Gets Huge Deal

Principal Comes Out

As Gay. I just figured I would add "as gay" like the rest of them in case someone doesn't understand the phrase "coming out."

In any event, the Principal of a high school in Washington, D. C. came out in public during a gay pride event. Evidently, he's been in the closet all his life, just turned 50, and got tired of keeping it a secret.

“I want to say publicly for the first time because of your leadership, care and support that I am a proud gay man who just happens to...

Gay Harassment in Mississippi Restaurant; Cop Sues For Discrimination

Gay Harassment in Mississippi Restaurant

A gay couple went into a Mexican eatery in Mississippi, kissed, and wound up getting harassed. But this didn't happen at random.

It was one of those ABC news shows called "What Would You do?" The person who harassed them was really an actress, and the point was to see how others in the restaurant would react.

One table of young women, for example, take videos, laugh and point as if the gay couple were circus freaks.

What's interesting is that...

Black Cat Riots; Jonathan Rhys Meyers Gay Film; Jenny McCarthy Transphobic Tweet; Pastor's Gay Son

Black Cat Riots

Even though the Stonewall riots in 1969 seem to get more attention, the Black Cat riots of 1967 in Los Angeles are just as significant to gay culture and gay liberation. The city of Los Angeles recently put up a plaque in remembrance of the riots, at the location where they took place.

In the early hours of New Year’s Eve in 1967 a group of plain clothed police officers infiltrated the Black Cat Tavern in Silverlake, a newly established gay bar, and began arresting and beating...

Call For Gay Stories; Rose McGowan Is An Idiot; Jonah Hill Apologizes

Call For Gay Stories

There was an e-mail in my inbox tonight that I think a lot of people will find interesting and I figured I would share it right now while it's fresh. There's a new web site called "Who's the Guy?" that revolves around gay coming out stories and a few other things that has an open call for submissions. It's a simple web site to navigate and all you have to do is submit a story. The long range goal is to put together a full published work/anthology to inform p...
