'Warrior Nun' Allegedly Hid Gay Romance From Netflix, Ryan Field Books
'Warrior Nun' Allegedly Hid Gay Romance From Netflix
First, I know nothing about Warrior Nun. So for me the word allegedly is important.
Apparently, it's a YA show on Netflix that was canceled after the second season. And while some were trying to save the show, they uncovered some interesting information about an alleged gay storyline.
According to this article, Netflix didn't want two main characters, Beatrice and Ava, involved in a romance.
But our executive at Netflix was uncomfortable with s...

When Fandom for a Celebrity Becomes Toxic, Creepy, and Cringe, Ryan Field Books
When Fandom for a Celebrity Becomes Toxic, Creepy, and Cringe
I know this topic is out of my usual range, but I see things like this sometimes and I think they are interesting.
First, I'm linking to a piece that talks about how toxic fandom can ruin something for other people. It explains how 10 movies have become less enjoyable thanks to toxic fans. And that's exactly what I'm posting about today from my own personal experience.
Here's one film: Twilight.
The passionate fans of the series caused...
LGBTQ Teachers Fighting Erasure in Own Classrooms, Ryan Field Books
LGBTQ Teachers Fighting Erasure in Own Classrooms
For some reason, teaching has always had more than a few gay people. Gay teachers weren't out of the closet until recently, but we all knew they were there. It was that same old don't ask don't tell point of view. I remember several as a kid, including nuns in Catholic schools. It seemed to be predominantly gay women, but I could be wrong about that. As long as the straights didn't have to deal with it openly, they were fine.
In any event, in thos...

Caribbean Laws that Criminalize Gay Men, Ryan Field Books
Caribbean Laws that Criminalize Gay Men
I was never fond of articles that refer to the criminalization of gay sex. What is really happening is that gay men are being targeted and criminalized for many of the same things straight couples do in bed. But these magazine and news outlets rarely take the time to point this out.
With that said, here's something about gay rights in the Caribbean. A few places in the Caribbean have actually struck down anti-gay laws. Several courts have ruled them uncons...

Ruibal and Iglesias Hit Back after They Get Abuse for Wearing Purses, Ryan Field Books
Ruibal and Iglesias Hit Back after They Get Abuse for Wearing Purses
There is, and always has been, this stereotype for men. We do not carry purses. It's some kind of unwritten het law that's been around for years. And if a man does carry a purse, he is automatically shamed. And believe it or not, the shaming often comes from het women.
Aitor Ruibal and Borja Iglesias are two of the latest male victims of purse shaming. But they are not taking it lightly, and they are not backing down to anyone....
Underground LGBTQ People Trapped in Afghanistan, Ryan Field Books
Underground LGBTQ People Trapped in Afghanistan
It's been a rough time here in the US for LGBTQ people in the last year, with name calling like "woke" and all kind of other anti-LGBTQ sentiments. We are even at odds with people who now call themselves "LGB" because they are prejudice against trans people. The sad thing about them is that these conservative religious straights don't really like them either.
But we've also had support, too, and things could always be worse.
For example, what's hap...

New Spanish-Speaking Soap on Netflix Has Gay Three-Ways, Ryan Field Books
New Spanish-Speaking Soap on Netflix Has Gay Three-Ways
I haven't heard anything about this series until just now. According to this article, the show isn't gay-themed, but there is a gay subplot. And it's all in Spanish.
The title is Perfil Falso, it dropped on May 31 on Netflix, and it's mostly about straights. But, according to this, the 2nd episode gets into gay content.
I know nothing about this one and I'm not checking into it. One, I don't want to watch a straight soap even if there are g...

Group Declares National State of Emergency for LGBTQ People, Ryan Field Books
Group Declares National State of Emergency for LGBTQ People
The Human Rights Campaign is focused on activism, and they are the ones declaring this national state of emergency. What started all this is that there have been over 75 anti-gay bills already this year. They claim we are all in danger from these radical hets, and that we should be on high alert. I've heard stories from gay men all over Twitter about being threatened and bullied by hets.
They posted this on Twitter:
The group’s post read...

Cape Coral Pastor Gets Backlash for Anti-Gay Commentary, Ryan Field Books
Cape Coral Pastor Gets Backlash for Anti-Gay Commentary
Here's the story of another Twitter feud. I've seen so many anti-gay and anti-LGBTQ Tweets lately, especially with regard to Pride, I'm ready to take a Twitter break. It's revolting.
In any event, Pastor Tom Ascol from some Baptist church decided to get involved with an anti-gay law in Uganda that I posted about recently and Ted Cruz came out against. Here's one ridiculous quote from the good Pastor.
“I think homosexuality should be prohibit...

Where the Gay Movement Began in Spain, Ryan Field Books
Where the Gay Movement Began in Spain
It's a shame that the conservative religious crowd that is bashing LGBTQ people right now aren't sophisticated enough to understand that there have been gay movements in places other than the US, and that LGBTQ people are found all over the world. They are so backward they seem to think we're only in the US. But most of all, that we know how to fight for our rights, relentlessly.
Here's an article that talks about where the gay rights movement began in Spain...
