BBC Reporter asks Honest Valid Question at Women's Cup in Morocco and Takes Heat for it, Ryan Field Books
BBC Reporter asks Honest Valid Question at Women's Cup in Morocco and Takes Heat for it
Apparently, a journalist at the BBC asked an allegedly dangerous question about gay women on the Women's Cup team and now they have issued an apology. I use the word 'allegedly' for a reason. I really am on the fence about this one.
Here's the question...asked to the team captain.
“In Morocco, it’s illegal to have a gay relationship. Do you have any gay players in your squad and what’s life like for them in Mo...

A Huge Shake Up At Penguin Random House, Ryan Field Books
A Huge Shake Up At Penguin Random House
Here's another publishing post. This was just too big to pass by without saying a word.
A lot of people are calling what happened at Penguin Random House "the end of an era."
There have been huge layoffs combined with buyouts recently at Penguin Random House and some of the people are very well known publishing professionals.
Among them are editors like Shelley Wagner and Rick Kot. The layoffs have been confirmed by Nihar Malaviya.
“As you know, the book m...

The New Gay Water a Canned Cocktail is the New Anti-Bud Light, Ryan Field Books
The New Gay Water a Canned Cocktail is the New Anti-Bud Light
There's a new product on the market and it's called Gay Water. It's actually a cocktail, with vodka and flavored soda water. I think there are 4 different flavors. It is supposedly named after one of the most popular drinks in gay bars. I know vodka has always been my drink of choice.
Allegedly, this new product by Spencer Hoddeson, a gay man, is a direct response to how other companies, including Bud Light, have responded to the bigo...

Can You Write in the First Person with a Multiple POV?, Ryan Field Books
Can You Write in the First Person with a Multiple POV?
I saw a short discussion about this on Twitter today and I wanted to post something about it. I have always had a comfort zone. If I write in the first person, it's not multiple POV. Same goes for writing in the 3rd person.
However, I have written a few published books with multiple POVs. Of course I can't remember them offhand. But at the time I was working with an editor who wanted to get me out of my comfort zone for a while.
And I liked ...

Kevin Maxen Jaguar's Coach Comes Out as Gay, Ryan Field Books
Kevin Maxen Jaguar's Coach Comes Out as Gay
Do you remember when you were in your 20s and the first time you saw a gay man who didn't look or appear to be gay? I do. I was stunned. I went to a gay bar in New Hope, PA, in college, and when I saw how many gay men were there who didn't appear to be gay I couldn't believe what I was seeing. All I had ever seen prior to that were what TV and the movies wanted me to see about gay men. There is nothing wrong with that. But we are diverse as a community...

Italy Allegedly Removes Gay Mothers' Names From Birth Certificates, Ryan Field Books
Italy Allegedly Removes Gay Mothers' Names From Birth Certificates
Just once I would love to see something like this trend on social media. I see things about Trump that makes no sense, I see things about the President that makes no sense, and just a moment ago I saw something about a man who once flashed his penis on the Internet. But I never see anything as important as this story trending anywhere.
In an attempt to crackdown on same-sex parenting, Italy is now removing the names of gay mothers...

An Apology from Rishi Sunak for Armed Forces Gay Ban, Ryan Field Books
An Apology from Rishi Sunak for Armed Forces Gay Ban
Rishi Sunak is Prime Minister for the UK and he recently did something unexpected and wonderful for gay people around the globe. He apologized for the way gay people were treated in the armed forces.
It was actually illegal to be gay in the British military until 2000. Which was pretty much true for most places in the world.
Apparently, there is some kind of report that states gay people who were in the military back then in the UK should be c...

Tom Holland Plays GayFace, Ryan Field Books
Tom Holland Plays GayFace
I haven't been following this story much. But here are the facts.
Straight male actor who dates women, Tom Holland, played a gay scene in the new Spider Man film. Allegedly this straight male actor who dates women did a "steamy" gay scene.
Tom Holland got roasted online for playing gayface by some, and others defended him.
According to this article, they seem to believe that the negative criticism came from those who are homophobic, or from those who don't want to see a...

Gay Rights Movement History, Ryan Field Books
Gay Rights Movement History
Many people really don't know all that much about gay history. They don't even realize we have a culture and that we go back a long way. They simply think of us in terms of "sexuality" or "sexual orientation," and we are so much more than that.
And it really worries me when gay men don't know anything about their own history. I see it all the time on social media. During Pride month I was amazed at how many knew nothing at all.
With that said, I'm now linking to a pie...

Christian Conservative Couple Toss Rat into Gay Establishment, Ryan Field Books
Christian Conservative Couple Toss Rat into Gay Establishment
This is one of those stories that seems to go way back. It's a story about neighbors who don't get along, one is a gay couple who owns a restaurant and the other is a straight conservative Christian couple who reside next to the gay couple.
The Christians were caught on camera tossing a rat onto the porch of the gay couple's restaurant. The gay couple is an older couple, in their 70s, and have been together since 1973. The arguing beg...
