PLAN AHEAD…organizational tip
Summer may be officially ended but taking a few minutes today can give you a jump on SUMMER 2015. Before you pull out the fall dishes and carve the pumpkin make sure your beach towels are washed, the sand shaken out of your acqua socks and the water wings are dried and folded. Store everything together on a shelf in your linen closet, and old suitcase, a plastic storage bin under your bed or a basket in a guest room closet. When next summer (or your winter vacay) rolls around everything is right at your fingertips. Packing up also gives you a chance to see what you need to replace and take advantage of the clearance sales going on now.

PLAN AHEAD
There’s a scene in Seinfeld where Jerry asks Elaine what she did over the weekend and she tells him that she literally did NOTHING. (Seems fitting in a show about, well… nothing!) She sat and stared. You might admit that by Friday that could sound okay.
We get it. Some weeks are like that. Traffic has picked up just in time for the busier schedule of fall and at the end of your commute you have to get dinner on the table and head back out for back to school nights, practices, rehearsals and a dozen other obligations filling your calendar.
Everyone needs some down time but you don’t want your weekend to be like the punchline of a sitcom. If you don’t pencil in some time for yourself that space will get filled. If you’re looking forward to some time with a book at least try to walk to the bookstore or walk a few laps around the block before going in. Schedule a date and reconnect with your partner. In some parts of the country the leaves are changing and the colors are worth seeing. Get out for a hike with family, friends…or learn to enjoy your own company.

SHOPPING ADVICE
If you’ve read any of Marilu’s books you know that they are brimming with great advice…not just about healthy food and exercise but about every aspect of your busy life. On of our favorites is “Shop in your own closet.”
This is a great budget friendly tip and it’s a wonderful way to change up your wardrobe. That item that got pushed to the back of the closet last year. Take it out and see how it works with items you’ve added since then. Or have a friend come by and make suggestions. It’s always helpful to have someone look at your style and your wardrobe with new eyes.
Another way to spice things up is to have a trash and treasure party. Get a group of friends together and swap things out. A color that doesn’t work on you might be perfect for your co-worker. The same holds true for necklines and hemlines.
If you’ve just completed our Back to Booty School class there’s a chance that you might have changed sizes. This is a good time to go through your things and see what you may need to replace for fall.
