Benumbed

I used to travel a lot with my family nationally and internationally. Over the course of nine years, every landscape appeared similar and felt repetitive. Our trips ran out of the ‘aha’ moments even though we visited some of the most stunning places. The authority in the statement ‘A first-time high is impossible to reach’ established for me. Needless to say, our travel obsession met its demise.

I wondered why we needed a heightened dose of anything the subsequent times. Isn’t this a symptom of addiction? Shouldn’t it only apply to substance abuse, alcohol, social media, sex,... Oh no! As I kept pondering, it became evident that a lot of things we do is indeed addictive. This realization sent me on an overdrive to crack this mystery, and I have a theory.

Our perceptions are limited to our five senses. As soon as we come across something for the first time, it is memorized. The memory is not just of experience but also of how we reacted. The next time we encounter something similar or the same thing, we reenact our reactions from our memory without the shock element as it is now known to us. This creates a void as we are not stunned but merely performing.

If you don’t believe it, try it. I have done this by comparing the recordings from our vacations. My reactions are almost verbatim to my previous one, even when I had forgotten it. It wasn’t like I didn’t enjoy it the subsequent times, but it did not take my breath away.

And so, the more we repeat a given activity, the more uninteresting it becomes. It doesn’t employ the senses like the first time. And anything routine requires stimulation. We look for a more uplifting version of the same, or we look for something new. This toxic cycle dulls our senses further and further, for all we do is replay our accrued experiences.

Memory, therefore, continues life, but it also makes it dull, pushing us to find another high. Turning us benumbed.

If you enjoyed this, considering reading my Trilogy ALL KAAL NONE - SAC OF SURPÄS Part 1. It is a romantic story of how we are forced to hate our dark side in order to appreciate the light within us.

Refusal

The world we look at is what has been echoed by creation. An object appears when light is returned back. Its color is of the wavelength that was rejected. Its shape is of the configured matter that was presented. Anything visible, detectable, expressed, enunciated, and disclosed is refused by someone or something.

Therefore, we can only consume what is refused. But don’t we refuse what we reject or can’t handle within? By this inference, art, music, literature, or any talent is a refusal. The more you have to reject or rebound, the more creative you are. Because these are ideas that itch to be expressed and known.

Similarly, you will only donate what you can afford to part with. Charity is hence a rejection of your time and possession that you feel comfortable giving away.

Then what of the ideas stored inside us? There could be two possibilities. They are incredibly precious to be shown, or we are simply one with them. An absorbed phenomenon can thus never be known. That which truly makes anything is hidden away. For example, our perversions.

Let’s apply this logic to our creation with some scientific understanding. We see concepts like giant planets, stars, galaxies, etc., with our eyes. Considering there is an opposite of everything for equilibrium implies innumerable marvels within our universe that we can never know as they are not expressed. Just imagine the warped occurrences that we can never perceive that balance them.

Does your perception of the world match mine? If it does, or my perspective has made you curious, consider reading my books on Amazon Kindle Unlimited.

Conflict

We create conflicts and keep them alive by taking measures while pointing at them constantly.
What? It didn’t make any sense. Let me show you how.

People hate others who discriminate because it spreads hatred.
- Isn’t hating who hates others the same thing?
Not really. Others started it.
- And we continue it by remembering it and keeping it alive.
Shouldn't we end discrimination against blacks? To do that, we have start identifying black people in need.
- Everybody has the same basic need. If you consider others as fellow human beings, shouldn’t that be enough?
Not really. We have to know the problem to solve it. Right?
- I am confused. The problem is not the black people but the ones looking at them differently. And I don’t see that being addressed in the solution. In fact, the starting point of your solution is to point them out as the problem.

We want equal opportunity for women. But only at the cerebral level. Because we realize women are not equal to men but are demanding selective equality as and how it suits them.
- But women are running around calling themselves better than or equal to men, saying they don’t need men.
Yeah! We can buy ourselves flowers and write our names in the sand...
- Woah! I am not talking about sexual or romantic stuff but legit things. Men have a part to play in the society. There are heavy-duty things that men can do better, and sometimes only men can do it. Furtherance of our race needs more humans, which is impossible without men. Even a lesbian couple who wants to parent a child has to resort to sperm donation or adopt a child that came from a fertilized egg by a man’s sperm. The same goes for a gay couple wanting to raise a child. You need a woman’s contribution. We are a team.

How can you discriminate on reproductive ability? A transgender woman also deserves gender equality.
- Uh, are you sure? I heard it is not applicable in swimming competitions.
Hello! We just discussed this; it is about cerebral equality.
- That sounds discriminatory to me!
Well. At least we shouldn’t sexualize women, biological or otherwise.
- But of course, they can sexualize themselves.
A woman doesn’t always dress up to hunt for a mating partner. She wants to look good sometimes. It is for herself.
- Okay. Can women then wear a tag of their current mood and status?
We can’t do that. Use your words!
- Okay, got it. We will ask.
Sure. And just so you know. No means no.
- That is fine. Similarly, a woman should know when to take a no as well. Don’t use the woman card at the workplace with HR or on social media to defame someone who said no to you.

Let’s get back to conflict... Any opportunity should be fair. But we must reserve spots for minorities.
- Excuse me, but isn’t that a biased approach if it is not talent-based?
Well, not in this case, as the minority don’t have enough opportunities.
- Shouldn’t we then create more opportunities?
The next Presidential candidate would do that. Don’t worry. Their main pitch is to create more jobs.
- Then why hasn’t this been done yet? We have had many Presidents.
Because of the Republicans.
- You mean population.
Yeah, yeah.
- Shouldn’t we control the population, then?
Humans have the right to make babies, as babies are a gift from God.
- Not sexual intercourse?
OMG, you pervert.
- I mean, we trap cats and dogs as they breed too much. Afterward, we fix them and put them up for adoption or euthanize them if the shelter is too crowded. Do only humans have the right to breed like crazy?
Animals don’t have souls.
- Oh, right. We love animals like cats and dogs. Sometimes horses and other wild animals in need. At times even cute pigs but not when I want to eat bacon.
I have to eat.
- I completely understand. That reminds me. What about world hunger?
We have to start by creating awareness for that to get help and donations.
- Do you mean forwarding posts online?
Not all of us can go and help in person.
- Of course, like in a war situation. But. Isn’t taking sides without making an effort creates polarity in the crowd?
We can't just sit there. We have to make the extremists pay.
- Got it. We should make peace with war. Pardon me if I find that conflicting?
Just use your common sense for once!
- That is exactly what I am trying to do.

Quote from my book ALL KAAL NONE - SAC OF SURPÄS Part 1
“Vastness is scary if you are not feeling one with it. Separation and distance bring about conflicts. I am part of it. How can I be scared of what is me, myself?”

Excerpt from my book i$UBSCRIBE
"We use the emotion love to be inclusive.”
“By identifying the opposing.” It was my turn to laugh. “Which means you compared and knew the other one was not you. That is already separation, Athena. Discrimination. If you were truly one, you wouldn’t know the other one was different.”

What is love?

Love is a positive emotion that brings us closer and makes us compassionate about the object of our affection.

Then why does a piece of bad news connect us in masses more than love? Well romantic love is one on one (except Reverse Herem situation!). The general public gets stirred by a negative sentiment. Because we fear it could happen to us. It feels good to be in a better position than the suffering, and we skillfully mask it with a compassionate attitude. Let’s set this ugly reality aside. Also, Happy Valentine’s Day.

Love is often branded selfless. That totally and utterly baffles me. I mean, it is for someone other than you, so the separation has to occur. Yeah, I know... this is too abstract. Let me simplify. Another person catches your attention, and you admire them, and then some time passes, making you realize you are in love.

Since this motivation only comes after determining there is another, I call it separation. You see, SELF is your ego that makes you, you. It is not a negative thing, but what establishes you as an individual. And if you genuinely go SELFless with your feelings of love, you wouldn’t even notice the person you love as they would be a part of you.

Nevertheless, you want to feel it in return. And for that, the person you love has to be separate from you. Love, therefore, is division. Unfortunately, it stings if the feeling is too strong and not reciprocated because it is outside of you and your control. That’s why love hurts. Regardless of the consequences, you must express your love to unburden the heaviness when you catch the feeling. This feeling takes a special place in your heart. You constantly confess or reiterate your love for validation. It hurts when you lose or never get it return, as it creates a void. It is scientifically proven that heartbreak destroys some muscles in your heart every time you experience it.
Yup... Heartbreak is real, people. There are many annotations of love, but my take thus is deathly unromantic.

To me, SELFless love is unspoken and unexpressed. If something is a part of you, you wouldn’t focus on physical/material presence. And that is simply impossible in our world. So go on, fall in love. Enjoy the division decadence, separated animalism, or spiritual connection.

Here are quotes from my book about love.
“Love is just like the concept of God. Open to many interpretations. Delphian. I want us to exist together until we perish. Pure.”
Taken from ALL KAAL NONE - SAC OF SURPÄS Part 1

“You don’t love him but love the idea of loving him. That unique charm of forbidden love entices you. It is the same with every human being. They love life overly, knowing well death is the only truth.”
Taken from Yama Echo Maya

I cannot end without something akin to what everyone identifies with!
“How did you make love to a repulsive being like me? How can you confess so freely when I have turned ugly?”
“This is the only time I can say that I love you. The love that I have for you is notwithstanding your outer splendor. Unconditional.”
“Are you blind?” She cried, puffing aversely.
“Nope. My vision is the clearest at the moment."

Normal

Normal is the most ambiguous word. after love, of course. Like many other words, its meaning is contextual. Let me squeeze as much as possible in a definition that fits most frames of references - ‘Normal is an expected behavior or concept that occurs naturally, is standard, statistical or average output of the aggregate.’

Who decides what is normal?
No one in particular or You and I.

Normal isn’t a positive or a negative stand but rather a generalized pattern based on unspoken rules. This approximation could be at an individual or group level. You could be happy most days but tend to have the blues on some. Most people avoid public outbursts but could lose control occasionally. However, an individual conduct is considered discordant if not aligned with the others because we live in a society. You could have a different normal but must still avoid conflicts and violations. In other words, you must conform to the group normal... at least in public. And so, we all could be abnormal as individuals in the eyes of society, law, or religion. But when projecting ourselves, we blend in with the collective frequency. Those who can’t are anomalous.

This leads me to believe that group normal is a pretense as particular conduct is required to maintain order. Kind of like the electrons, protons, and neutrons that are unique but are in balance to preserve the overall atom’s stability. Not always, certainly most of time.
Is anything consistent, then?

Circle of Life

My curiosity is more granular than the song by Elton John, you know, at an individual level. Earth’s population is about 7 billion, yet we can’t relate to everyone. Why? Precisely because of the finite size of our Circle of Life. With the global connection social media offers, you might think you should be able to expand your reach. But it is not that easy.

You see, social media operates on an algorithm that changes with the shift in the public mood. It constantly monitors our browsing patterns and determines our likes and dislikes. Sadly, it is only good at suggesting what is trending. How do things become popular? When more people relate to it. And we relate to certain things depending on the makeup of our Circle of Life which is comprised of the people who directly impact us.

We can be easily divided into three groups. Influencers, Aspirers, Followers. Influencers can be divided into inventors, leaders, controllers, and mentors. Aspirers can be divided into wannabes, competitors, seekers, and hopefuls. Followers are simply sycophants.

News Flash! Most of us are Followers.

In order to trend, we have to upgrade to an Aspirer and make the Followers feel good. Funny and pleasing products should do the job. However, trends change. What we experience online daily is a passing storm. A new shiny thing replaces the previous hyped one, and we move on, forgetting about whoever was trending earlier. For consistency, we have to stick with cat videos. Or live our life of obscurity after enjoying temporary fame.

There are still a select few who outshine others constantly. If you analyze, their growth is steady and timeless. Although they touch many lives, their Circle of Life is still small. They may be famous, but people still crave one-on-one interaction. Since close engagement is only possible in person, our Circle of Life cannot be big no matter what. The reality says, the scope of finding our people has not changed, even with the internet. We get exhausted catching up with trends and relating to people on a wider scale. It is much easier and peaceful to be around a select few.

Oh! There is one more group, which is infinitely small compared to the other three - Ignorant. These are the happiest people.

So, are you an influencer, an aspirer, or a follower? If you are reading this, you cannot be Ignorant.

Freedom of Speech

One of the most significant advantages of Democracy is the Freedom of Speech. Provided you don’t hurt others’ sentiments, don’t provoke people to perform harmful acts or influence the crowd negatively, and if you are respectful, productive, lawful, etc. I am sure there are other restrictions.

Where is the freedom, then?

That’s right, you don’t have the literal Freedom of Speech but a sense of the same. But hey… As long as you believe you do, you do. A tall order understands this and uses it to control the crowd without raising suspicion. There are a few countries that still openly snub people’s common interests. Example, North Korea. How dare they not let people speak their mind!

Oh, hold on. Is there an actual difference between dictatorship and Democracy regarding Freedom of Speech?

Dictatorship does not back the principle supporting the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction (Wikipedia). Whereas Democracy does. Apparently!

Have you heard about Osho Rajneesh? He was a spiritual leader who founded a town populated by his followers in the US. He eventually gathered the homeless crowd, who, along with his followers, voted unreservedly for him when he stood in the local elections. His popularity threatened the government, and he was dealt with.
*Just to set the record straight, I am not affiliated with that sex guru. *

The Moral of the story is that you are allowed Freedom of Speech as long as it doesn’t threaten the ruling body. You are also allowed to exercise the other phony things I mentioned initially. However, those usually mean a disruption in the general population, which is highly favored by the government. It wants you to be tangled in such non-existent affairs so that it can do what it does best - Hoard the resources. While you protest for women’s rights, gender equality, racial discrimination, etc., the government pretends to care. Your busyness is in their favor. And yours, too. After all, you feel good about using your Freedom of Speech for a great cause.

Not much changes in the big picture, though. One problem is replaced by another, and the overall happiness score balances itself out. Because there is a difference between holding an opinion and saying what you want. The conflict is cavernous if you offend someone exercising your right to free speech, especially in the workplace.

Have you recently said whatever was on your mind?

If you question the status quo, read my books to get another perspective.

"Democracy is just another ruling. It cannot exist the way you dream of it. But go on and delude yourself. It is all about controlling resources and misguiding agendas to manipulate the masses.”
Taken from ALL KAAL NONE - SAC OF SURPÄS Part 1

"Speak your mind, my ass! It was not an honest encouragement but a trap to see inside me. No one wanted to know what anyone truly felt."

Romanticizing

We cannot accept anything unless it is romanticized. Let’s understand why.
Romanticizing is invoking anyone on a powerfully sentimental idea of life. When our emotions are stirred, it triggers our bias, and we lean towards it unknowingly. For example, if something makes you laugh or cry, you tally it against your experience. Any commonality immediately creates a bond with the perceived idea. When we relate to something based on the emotions it invokes, it is undoubtedly romanticized.

If it didn’t resonate with you, you will move on. If you stay and criticize it, it must have disturbed you enough to raise a reaction from you. And so, it was a bad romance.

You have to be romantically involved in an idea to spend time on it. No wonder we romanticize everything. Even dire things like war and death are idealized in poetry, painting, and literature so others can consume them. We need validation for our creations, opinions, and ourselves. We are all looking for a like-minded bunch that romanticizes ideas like us. Because we don’t want to be alone as it is not romantic.

Have you found your people?

If you enjoyed this, consider reading my books on Amazon Kindle Unlimited.

Quotes:
"Humans are limited to their imagination. Imagination is a consequence of their knowledge and experience. It is always related to what they already know. It is difficult for them to witness anything beyond that. Even if they see something beyond their imagination, they will draw parallels to what they know to understand it.”
Taken from ALL KAAL NONE - SAC OF SURPÄS Part 1

"If someone adores something, it is hidden away deep within them. Carefully tucked in a place where no one can see or harm it. Only the things we don’t want to safeguard surfaces. The same is true for the stuff we don’t relate to. Or the ideas that are not inside us to begin with. It could be emotions or opinions. We would reject it and move on."

Genius, intelligence, talent, nor beauty

There are so many things that are only relevant to the human world. Come to think of it, perhaps everything we humans do is only relevant to us. It impacts other species and the environment, sure. But it is irrelevant, nonetheless. The world would go on with or without us. For now, we are on top of the food chain.

The most celebrated qualities of our species are intelligence, genius, talent, and beauty. Almost everything we do can fit under them. In some ways, these bonuses further humanity. At least, all of it is sought after in our children. Would anyone want to weed out genius, intelligence, talent, or beauty from their kids? I don't think so.

But here is the thing... None of it means anything unless validated, recognized, and celebrated. That is the drawback of our society. Unrecognized qualities are as good as dead. We need like-minded people to make sense of them. Circle Jerking is, thus, very important. What is that? It means individuals or groups who share the same viewpoint and engage in agreement without considering other perspectives.
Oh no, I didn't misquote this. We overlook the negatives and celebrate desired traits as long as it doesn't threaten us directly. Because here is the thing, no one is perfect.

Now, we need to make sense of our qualities and get recognition. And that only happens when it will benefit the future of humanity (aka, makes money for the ones leading us). Or when it furthers our far-reaching agendas (ridiculous endeavors in the name of advancement). For example, populating Mars when so many don't have a home on Earth. Or spending billions of dollars on the JWS (James Webb Space) telescope to view the Universe when a fraction of that can feed humans for years.

Also, none of the qualities we celebrate would help us survive in nature. Let's say we are without our tools, gadgets, and machinery. What good is your intelligence in solving math problems when facing a hungry lion? What good is your savant genius in remembering countless books word by word or the calendar dates and days when facing the same lion? What good is your painting, writing, making music, or singing talent when that same hungry lion is crouching before you? What good is your beauty when you are about to be eaten by a predator?

Nothing.

BTW, CEO of OpenAI (ChatGPT, a well-known open AI) Sam Altman is a doomsday prepper. What does that say to you?

If you enjoyed this, please read my books for raw perspectives on our bloated psyche.

Pleasure Movement

Everything we do is to seek pleasure. Before you refute this, please understand that there is pleasure in pain for some. For example, rigorous military training. If you do it, you are enjoying the pain or the future this pain promises. If you quit, you prefer not being pained. In both cases, your action supports the pleasure you seek from it.

A simple thing like eating is to feel good. We rarely do anything that does not give us happiness. One might say 9-5 is not for pleasure. You are right. It is the means to buy things that provide us with pleasure. While we slog at work, we dream about the things that pleasure us. Next time you see someone overly dedicated to their job, remember they have nothing else in their life except work. And so, harassing people at work gives them pleasure.
Psst… Stay the hell away from such sadists.

Is anyone then happy after pursuing pleasure in such a focused manner? Obviously, No.
But why? (whining)

Pleasure is unaccountable even when seeking from accountable sources. It is intangible and is in the mind, not physical. The feeling of high doesn't last much longer. It is, in fact, very similar to orgasm. We start by formulating an idea, anticipate how it will materialize, build tension around right before seeking it, experience it, and end it with release.

Please don't tell me lazing around is your thing and that it doesn't give sexual pleasure. Did you know that sitting idle is the most exhausting activity? It is undoubtedly not a pleasure-seeking movement. Whenever you sit down, it is to do something else with minimal movement to stimulate you. Watching stuff online, reading, talking on the phone, or texting. All of this has to give you pleasure, or else you declare you're suffering from boredom. And immediately, you look for something else to give you pleasure.

So... What gives you pleasure?

If you enjoyed this, please consider reading my books on Amazon Kindle Unlimited.

“When you don’t feel the difference between pain and pleasure, you can begin to be aware.”

Quote from i$UBSCRIBE
“Humans put too much spotlight on enjoyment. They stand to please others to get acceptance from everyone, losing focus on their pleasure movement. When shockingly, it was all about them feeling good.”
