Normal
Normal is the most ambiguous word. after love, of course. Like many other words, its meaning is contextual. Let me squeeze as much as possible in a definition that fits most frames of references - ‘Normal is an expected behavior or concept that occurs naturally, is standard, statistical or average output of the aggregate.’
Who decides what is normal?
No one in particular or You and I.
Normal isn’t a positive or a negative stand but rather a generalized pattern based on unspoken rules. This approximation could be at an individual or group level. You could be happy most days but tend to have the blues on some. Most people avoid public outbursts but could lose control occasionally. However, an individual conduct is considered discordant if not aligned with the others because we live in a society. You could have a different normal but must still avoid conflicts and violations. In other words, you must conform to the group normal... at least in public. And so, we all could be abnormal as individuals in the eyes of society, law, or religion. But when projecting ourselves, we blend in with the collective frequency. Those who can’t are anomalous.
This leads me to believe that group normal is a pretense as particular conduct is required to maintain order. Kind of like the electrons, protons, and neutrons that are unique but are in balance to preserve the overall atom’s stability. Not always, certainly most of time.
Is anything consistent, then?
