Where There is No Night Chapter 7: The 2 of Cups
I started writing my series that I’m converting to a graphic novel, Where There is No Night, in 2006. It began the summer I tore the ligament in my ankle, right before I left for Japan the first time. I worked in a little hut selling popcorn and sodas and cotton candy at the Cincinnati Zoo. Management let me have a stool to sit on because I was injured (no one else got to sit down lol), and I made the most of my down time writing, making art and befriending the rhinoceros across from my hut. The original concept of Where There is No Night was a novella that questioned the nature of “good” and “evil” and if there is even such a thing.
I put the story away when I took off on my world travels and came back to it in 2012. The world I created expanded to include something similar to the Metaverse. The story is an Apocalyptic cyberpunk future that mixes old school grimoire magick with electronics. It takes place in a depressing time similar to now. Back then, I was like “Wow, I’m glad that’s not our world.” Well nope, I was actually just writing the future and we should just stop now if I’m right because it’s not gonna get any better … there are times that something happens globally that I wrote about and I just shake my head and go “I really hope I’m not calling the shots here.”
Anyway, I’m dropping the art for the 7th Tarot card for the series early because I’m proud of it. The next issue of Magdalena Tarot Magazine should be out in the next week where you can catch up with my graphic novel project. As the story unfolds and my team, L.E. Moore and Snow Torres and I, story board through creating Tarot cards for each chapter, I’m amazed at what we’re shaping. I’m also really enjoying being the colorist for the project. *When* we get signed, I’ll step down because I’m only coloring it to cut costs. I’m not bad at what I do, but I’m not professional level (although I do have some classical training).
When we’re signed, hopefully I can still color specials and story boards but I’m loving being involved in creating the art. I know one day I’ll see the whole thing drawn and these Tarot cards are a start. I’ve been on this journey with this concept for 15 years and the world I built just keeps showing me it’s potential to manifest. This card is when the story really kicks off — the early chapters were like a pilot to see if I had something good going. So if you’re going to jump in, now is the time.

We’re #1!
I went to the loveliest wedding last night. Matt and Brian got married at a rooftop celebration in West Denver. It was chilly but the love of my dear friends kept us warm. It was an inclusive ceremony with people from all walks of life present which is my idea of heaven: an all inclusive existence filled with love and harmony.
Because #TheLovers card is the path of the month for #MagdalenaTarotMagazine, Matt and Brian’s wedding reminded me of the brightest lesson of the lovers card: that love conquers all.

Angel Numbers

Although I’m not into Doreen Virtue style angelology and I’m a devotee of Hermeticism, I’ve found some pop culture angel resources to be excellent compliments to my mystical practices recently. It was almost like my own Holy Guardian Angel was like “You’re thinking way too hard about all of this.” I‘ve been noticing a lot of repeating numbers lately and one of my mentors recommended Doreen Virtue’s Angel numbers book. I put the numbers together and got this message in the photos. It resonated with me because of the mounting popularity of my work. As an occultist, I’m perfectly happy with my work reaching those it’s meant to reach, even if it’s just a small circle of fellow mystics. But seeing my work expand is undeniably exciting. I recognize the creative force within me as being Divine and in Hermeticism, the creator IS the greatest artist of ALL. So as my life changes and I come to see myself as a cocreator with the Absolute, doors keep opening. I have some exciting announcements coming soon so stay tuned.
So even though I think Doreen Virtue is a charlatan and a fraud, her affirmations made me feel optimistic about all the opportunities coming my way.

I went to the loveliest wedding last night. Matt and Brian got married at a rooftop celebration in West Denver. It was chilly but the love of my dear friends kept us warm. Magdalena Tarot Magazine Issue 6: The Lovers
TheLovers is a weird card for Magdalena Tarot Magazine Issue 6 but it fell during Scorpio season so I’m rolling with it. As the veil gets thinner, I have been thinking of the “till death due us part” aspect of the lovers card. It’s also weird I started seeing someone for the first time in forever when I was putting this issue together. He saw my altar and he thought the kissing skeletons were cool and it got me thinking about eternal love in regards to the Lovers card. Weird topic for this time of year but fitting.
