Blurb:

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.

Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.

Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.

The scene: This takes place a few paragraphs from last week's snippet #6. The Druid has arrived wanting to know who was responsible for releasing the water spirits. Gordana clutches her little boy as Samuel drags her toward Druid Daly.

**************************************************************************************

His arms wrapped around his mother’s neck like a vise, and fear radiated in the depths of his blue eyes. The people parted, clearing a path to where Druid Daly waited to judge the accused. Samuel thrust Gordana forward.

Druid Daly stood taller than most with long lean legs and arms. His hair fluttered over his shoulders in waves of white. Though he must be ancient, his face remained smooth from lines of age, but the depths of his eyes laid proof he was no innocent laddie.“What say ye?” Druid Daly demanded, his voice boomed, bringing silence to the woods.

Gordana lowered her head in shame.

***************************************************************************************

It does not bode well for Gordana. Come by next week to hear her side of the story.

This takes place a few paragraphs from last week's snippet #5. The Druid has arrived wanting to know who was responsible for releasing the water spirits. Alan and Hyatt argue how they will keep their sister safe.

**************************************************************************************

(Alan is speaking first.)

“Think this through. We cannae fight the whole clan. We must see what Druid Daly decides before we make our move. If the gods will no’ show leniency, then we must strike a bargain.”

Hyatt pursed his lips, but he gave a curt nod that he understood. Alan loosened his grip.

Samuel, one of the clan’s elders turned toward Gordana and grabbed her arm. “We have the one responsible.”

Now for the snippet:

*******************************************************************************

(Alan's POV) He wanted to reach for his sister, pull her into his embrace and tell

her everything would be all right, but he couldn’t. She had admitted her guilt by her own words, and he could not protect her from the gods’ judgment.

Hyatt stepped toward Gordana and her son, his intent obvious. Alan couldn’t let his brother make the mistake. His hand snaked out, clasping his brother’s arm in a firm hold.

“Unhand me, brother.” Hyatt’s body tensed, readying for a fight. "Let me hasten them away before Druid Daly exacts a punishment.”

This takes place a few paragraphs from the last snippet. Ronson has accused Gordana of leaving the lid off the well and allowing the water spirits to escape. Alan can't believe his sister would be so careless.

Now for the snippet:

********************************************************************************************************

“I dinnae mean to.” Her voice choked in

remorse.

“Gordana, surely—” Alan had no time to

question her further. The gods finally answered the

clan’s clamoring of despair and grief. Druid Daly

appeared before them in a streak of white light.

(Two Sentences More for Weekend Warriors)

“Who is responsible for freein’ the water

spirits?” Druid Daly’s gaze wavered over the clan in

accusation.

********************************************************************************************************

Gordana has some explaining to do.
