Promises… Abraham’s UN-DEAD @KMNbooks @RebeccaJVickery #8sunday #snippetsunday

Myths, Legends and Midnight Kiss_Final_mediumWelcome to Snippet Sunday. Since it's is creeping closer to Halloween, I thought I'd changes things up a bit. This is a snippet from my Halloween short story from the Myths, Legends, and Midnight Kisses Collection.

Enjoy a snippet from Abraham's UN-DEAD . Feedback is always appreciated.

If you're interested in last week's snippet of Abraham's UN-DEAD here you go:

Snippet: This is from Chapter Two where Adryanna and Bram (vampires), decide to help an ailing lad (7 year old, Abraham) with a few drops of their vampire blood, but Abraham believes the vampires want to drink his blood. He's not afraid, but thinks it a great adventure.

The year is 1854, Dublin, Ireland.  This is in Bram's POV.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit. :)

*********************************************************************************

"My blood would not be potent enough for blood-drinkers, I think," the child said and his cheery outlook failed for a moment, no doubt thinking about his weaken state.

"We do not seek your blood for nourishment," Bram told the boy. "We seek your company for a far greater reason."

"You do? What is it?" the lad's childish voice was a hoarse whisper, and anticipation shone bright in his eyes.

"We need you to keep our secret," Bram said. "You must not reveal that you know what we are and for your secrecy, we would like to grant you good health."

The child's eyes lit up at the prospect of such a gift. "Good health," he murmured. "I would be able to run and play as the other children can? Please, I pray, tell me it is so."

Enjoy a snippet from Abraham's UN-DEAD . Feedback is always appreciated.

If you're interested in last week's snippet of Rodeo Blues here you go: Chapter Three, Snippet 11

Snippet: This is from Snippet Two where Adryanna and Bram (vampires), decide to help an ailing lad (7 year old, Abraham) with a few drops of their blood. They aren't going to change them, but their blood tends to heal some ailments. This is their hope for Abraham and they have entered the child's room after he's been put to bed.

The year is 1854, Dublin, Ireland.  This is in Bram's POV. Young Abraham is speaking first.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit. :)

*********************************************************************************

"Are you and your wife one of the dreach-fhola that guard the Magillycuddy Reeks in Kerry?" Young Abraham asked.

The child's body may betray him, but his memory was sharp. Adryanna and he had spun a tale of the blood-drinking faeries that lived in the Castle of the Blood Visage. As the fable went: the faeries helped the kings rule and win battles in exchange for blood. Nothing of the sort ever happened as the story suggested, but it kept the myth alive in the hearts' of men, that nightwalkers were only figments of a creative mind and naught more.

"We are something of the sort," Adryanna said and both Bram and Abraham turned toward the window where Adryanna now stood on the ledge, her warm colored strands glimmering reddish-gold in the starlight and she appeared more angel than vampyre with her beauty. "However," she said as she stepped into the room, "you have no need to fear me or Bram, young Abraham. We are your friends. You do believe us, I pray."

CowboySnippetSunday_KMNbooksWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from RODEO BLUES. Feedback is always appreciated.

If you're interested in last week's snippet of Rodeo Blues here you go: Chapter 3, Snippet 10

Snippet:  We're jumping ahead here.  Inside Big Bob's Saloon at the bar, Tye finally says hello to Jolie. Jolie turns in her seat...

This is in Tye's POV.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit. :)

********************************************************************************

Her smile slid from her face, her features revealing every emotion from surprise to loathing in two seconds flat. He planned to start with an apology, but she didn't appear to be in the mood to forgive him anytime soon, and if her gaze could be registered as a deadly weapon, it should be, 'cause that look was surely meant to slay him.

"Can we talk, Jolie?" he asked instead.

She opened her mouth, but no more than a squeak came out. She flew to her feet and faced the bar as she leaned on it. Either she was on the verge of being ill or she needed to hold up the bar for some reason. Her knuckles turned white from the death grip.

"Jolie?" He placed a hand on her arm.

"If you want to keep that appendage, cowboy," her voice rumbled with the warning, "you'll remove it from my arm this instant."

Being fond of his limbs, he withdrew his hand as if her skin turned into molten lava.

*********************************************************************************

Do you think Jolie needs a moment to process? lol

Hope you enjoyed the snippet.

Eight Seconds to Lose the Girl…

One chance to win her back.

Tye Casper, a.k.a. the Ghost Rider and champion bull rider, should be the happiest cowboy alive, but when he left home ten years ago to make it big, he said goodbye to the only woman he has ever loved. He's had his eight seconds of glory, but without Jolie Lockhart by his side, the wins mean nothing.

He's been given an opportunity to return home to Skeeter Blue for one last rodeo. He believes fate has sent him there and he'll have a second chance with Jolie, but nothing goes as planned. He soon realizes staying seated on a bull for eight seconds may prove much simpler than winning Jolie's heart.

CowboySnippetSunday_KMNbooksWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from RODEO BLUES. Feedback is always appreciated.

If you're interested in last week's snippet of Rodeo Blues here you go: Chapter 3, Snippet 9

Snippet:  This takes place a few paragraphs later from last week. Inside Big Bob's Saloon, Tye is ready to face Jolie, only Buddy, one of his friend's from the Rodeo stops him before he can make his move. Buddy offers to buy Tye a drink...

This is in Tye's POV. Tye is speaking first.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit. :)

*********************************************************************************

"You need to slow down there, Buddy. How many have you downed already?"

"I can still see one of you, so I'd say not enough."

Tye glanced over his friend's shoulder. Jolie said something to her girlfriend at the bar then slipped toward the back where the pool tables and the restrooms were located. "Listen, Buddy, I'll catch you in a few. Why don't you ask one of the gals here tonight to dance?"

"Don't mind if I do." One of Dierks Bentley's songs played over the speakers as Buddy sauntered over to a table of giggling women.

Tye headed to the bar and leaned against the counter, thinking he'd wait for Jolie to return then make his move.

*********************************************************************************

So close to seeing Jolie face to face.

Hope you enjoyed the snippet.

Snippet:  This takes place a few paragraphs later from last week. Inside Big Bob's Saloon, Tye makes amends with Sonny and Mike, his childhood friends, when Jolie, the woman he walked out on ten years ago, enters the saloon...

This is in Tye's POV.

"You're drooling, Tye."

"Shut your pie hole, Sonny," he muttered.

"Sure am glad you're back," Mike said with a laugh. "The sparks will fly around this town now. Been too damn quiet, if you ask me."

Jolie hadn't seen him yet. She weaved around the crowd and headed toward the bar where a tall woman, with two-toned hair, stood waving her over.

"It's now or never," Mike sang in his low baritone. "Will Tye make his—"

He threw Mike a dagger-like look and the big man's voice choked into a laugh.

Tye’s Lucky Night … Rodeo Blues @KMNbooks @RebeccaJVickery #8sunday #snippetsunday

CowboySnippetSunday_KMNbooksWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from RODEO BLUES. Feedback is always appreciated.

If you're interested in last week's snippet of Rodeo Blues here you go: Chapter 3, Snippet 7

Snippet:  This takes place a few paragraphs later from last week. Inside Big Bob's Saloon, Tye makes amends with Sonny and Mike, his childhood friends, but Tye keeps looking toward the door. Sonny asks him who's he looking for, but Tye doesn't want to say he's looking for Jolie. Luckily for him Mike volunteers the information...

This is in Tye's POV.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit. :)

*********************************************************************************

"Jolie don't come here too often," Mike offered, picking up on what he truly wanted to know. Sonny rolled his eyes at Mike.

Thank-you-Mike for not playing the game. "Oh," he said and didn't quite keep the disappointment out of his voice.

"But it looks like tonight's your lucky night, Ghost Rider." Sonny gestured toward the entrance with a nod of his head.

Tye tried to be cool when he turned toward the door, but his heart did a sputter in his chest, threatening to stop. Five-foot four of pure woman sauntered in with a purpose. Her long hair was pulled up on the sides, while the rest cascaded down her back in waves of dark mahogany. Her jeans were molded to her figure and the white-laced blouse stood open two buttons from the top, revealing enough skin to make him wish for more.

*********************************************************************************

He has it bad, doesn't he? lol

Let Us Publish Your Story @RebeccaJVickery @KMNbooks

VICTORY TALES PRESS is looking for Romantic tales for our

Myth, Legends and Midnight Kisses, 2015 Halloween Collection!

The approach of autumn and the Halloween Season has a varied appeal. Some would rather celebrate All Saints Day and forget the scary stuff, or some love the chilling tales of legends. This autumn VTP's anthology will spotlight romances with a theme of legends and myths. It can be a made up legend or myth, or perhaps an old one with your own special twist. It's up to you.

The short stories can be any genre as long as there is a romance and a mention of a legend or myth. (The romance doesn't have to be the main focus.) The stories may have a western, fantasy, history, time travel or even adventure theme. They can be eerie tales and capers, too.

Vampires, witches and werewolves have a variety of legends you can draw from, and you can add your own special mythology to it. What if there was an outlaw from the 1800s, who buried his treasure and someone from now found it? Perhaps it was cursed... How about a civil war legend like the angel's glow legend... Where the soldiers' wounds actually glowed and those who did, had a better chance of surviving. What if there was an actual angel...vampire...fairy...or perhaps a special woman or man who had the power of healing...  Maybe your legend is an item that has the power of finding a soul mate...

It can be anything. Let your imagination guide you.

What are we looking for? Any LEGEND or Myth themed story with a sweet to sensual, m/f romance ( please no erotic or erotica ) with a word count between 10,000-20,000.

When do we need the stories? Now until Sept. 15th. The sooner you can email your submission the better. We will do some light editing only, but we will need time to read through all submissions.

Please send submissions to kmnbooks @ yahoo . com (no spaces).
Please put 2015 HALLOWEEN COLLECTION in the SUBJECT LINE.

I can't wait to read your tales! Any questions, please don't hesitate to email me.

Happy Writing!

CowboySnippetSunday_KMNbooksWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

If you're interested in last week's snippet of Rodeo Blues here you go: Chapter 3 Snippet 6

Snippet:  This takes place a few paragraphs later from last week. Inside Big Bob's Saloon, Tye is talking to Sonny and Mike, his old buddies from his youth.

This is in Tye's POV. Sonny is speaking first.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit. :)

*********************************************************************************

"Would have been nice if you gave us all a call once in a while. Would have done so myself, but it seems your phone number ain't listed."

So that was why Sonny seemed PO', and he ouldn't blame him, but he had his reasons. He didn't want the boys asking him when he planned to come home. Didn't want them telling him Jolie had moved on and forgotten all about him. "I've been selfish," he said to Sonny, and then glanced at Mike too. "Didn't mean to shut you all out, but stupidity got the better of me. My keister wasn't the only thing knocked around." He tapped his head and grinned, hoping Sonny would take the apology for what it was worth.

Sonny's mouth slowly curved into a genuine smile as he said, "Well then, I suppose it's our luck you found your way back home."

***********************************************************************************

Apology accepted. At least the boys forgave him for not calling home. :)
