Take the LEAP and time travel back in time… #timetravel #romance @KMNbooks @JudgeYourBook

If you had the choice, where would you time travel?

16th century Ireland? Maybe you don't want to travel back so far in the timeline. Perhaps a groovier time would be fun-- say like the 1970s. Or perhaps you fancy hanging out with a cowboy in the 1800s. Let your imagination go wild the possibilities.

Invite me in… Flowers and Fangs @RebeccaJVickery @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Flowers and Fangs_KMN_mediumWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from last week: Flowers and Fangs Chapter 3 #2

This week's snippet is another snippet from Flowers and Fang.

This is still Chapter 3. Skipping ahead again a few paragraphs. We left off with Sloane's dog, Lad, growling at the door. Sloane is surprise to find out it's only Tim (her boyfriend) who's come calling, and doesn't understand why Lad is snarling at him. She drags Lad away and puts him out back before she returns to the front door again. Tim is still standing on the porch...

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit.:)

********************************************************************

Tim stood up straight when he caught sight of her. For a brief second, she could have sworn his eyes had an eerie glow to them, like a pair of eyes looking back from a thicket, warning her of danger, but she blinked and his eyes were the same soft brown color she'd remembered.

"Are you going to ask me in?" he voiced and his brows lifted in question. He looked a little pale, but not feverish. It was good to know the flu would only last twenty-four hours.

"Sure, but I must warn you I think I caught what you had a few days ago."

"I've already been exposed and I doubt I'll catch it twice," he said.

She opened the screen and stepped aside, then frowned when he didn't move. "Well, come in already."

His lips slid into a grin, but the smile made her uneasy.

*********************************************************************************

Does Tim seem a little pleased to be invited in?

Flowers and Fangs_KMN_mediumAbout Flowers and Fangs, "Stake and Dust series, Book II":

Derek Hayes and his family are preternatural hunters. Stake and dust is their motto, but Derek has a difficult time accepting his sworn duty when Sloane McBride, his ex-girlfriend from high school, is the one he's been sent to eliminate. Once infected from a Nosferatu bite, there is no turning back. Sloane has been bitten and she will eventually change.

It proves a race against time when Derek puts aside his core beliefs and teams up with Sloane. The Nosferatu wants Sloane for his own, Derek's brothers are hunting her, and every second brings Sloane closer to changing into the very fiend they want to kill.

A Lamia, a sea creature worthy of John Keats' prose, teams up with a vampire with serial tendencies. When young promising artists are found dead, the Preternatural Bureau sends Cassandra Hayes to the Hamptons to help a fellow hunter track down this lethal duo. She's only spoken to Mr. Green once on the phone and when she meets him in person, he is not what she expects. His hunting skills are spot on, but there is something the man is hiding, and she's determined to find out what it is despite the attraction developing between them.

Tremayne Graystone, a vampire from one of the oldest septs, is not pleased when he finds a dead hunter left on the doorstep of his pub. He should have never answered the hunter's phone, but someone is trying to frame him and he wants answers. Surely he can masquerade as Mr. Green, the hunter Cassandra is supposed to meet, before she figures out his true identity and stakes him. She's a Hayes, from a long line of vampire hunters, and fraternizing with the enemy is simply not done, but as they work together and follow the clues, the lines become blurred when he falls for the hunter's charms.

Don’t open the door!… Flowers and Fangs @RebeccaJVickery @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Flowers and Fangs_KMN_mediumWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from last week: Flowers and Fangs Chapter 3 #1

This week's snippet is another snippet from Flowers and Fang.

This is still Chapter 3, but we're skipping ahead. Sloane isn't feeling well. She has her cold meds in hand and the kettle on the stove. She let Lad (her dog) inside the house, gave him a treat and is about to go upstairs to change into something cozy, but there's a knock on the door...

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit.:)

********************************************************************

Lad's ears perked up and a low growl vibrated from the back of his throat. Her gaze landed on her lab with a frown. Lad usually loved everyone, and she wondered who could be at her front door that had him agitated? She strode over to it and peeked out the peephole, half expecting Freddy Kruger to be standing there by the way Lad's fur stood up on end, and the snarl he produced to go along with his bad fur day. She sighed in relief when she recognized her visitor. She threw opened the door with a smile.

Lad came bounding to the door, snarling in rapid barks. She'd never seen him act like that—ever. "Lad, sit. It's only Tim."

*********************************************************************************

You're probably shouting, "Sloane, close the door!" Unfortunately, I don't think she will. Come by next week to find out.

A Nibbling Valentine Sweetheart… Flowers and Fangs @RebeccaJVickery @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Flowers and Fangs_KMN_mediumWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from last week: Flowers and Fangs Chapter 2 #6

This week's snippet is another snippet from Flowers and Fang.

We're jumping ahead to Chapter 3 so you can meet Sloane.

Sloane has arrived home from work. She hasn't been feeling well and she's sure she caught the strange bug Tim's family is suffering from.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit.:)

********************************************************************

She'd known Tim since the fourth grade—their parents had been longtime friends—but she only recently started dating him. They hadn't even slept together yet, but the way Tim's hands slid over her body the other night, and the way he kissed her with teeth, tongue and lips, she'd been considering the tumble into bed. That is until he bit her neck, drawing blood. His impromptu hickey put a damper on the mood. He was apologetic, but remained on edge. If she didn't know better, she'd say he was strung out on drugs, but Tim was straight laced as they come. He didn't even take over the counter meds if he could help it.

He told her he thought he was coming down with something. Said his brother and sister were ill and had stayed home tucked in bed for a better part of a week.

Tim ended up going home early, which despite his weird behavior, she was disappointed.

*********************************************************************************

I'm sure Sloane would have preferred the flowers over the impromptu hickey. Especially if it turns out to be much more than just a small mark on her neck.

Have a happy Valentine's Day, and beware of nibbling Valentine sweethearts. lol

Do you have a story to tell? @RebeccaJVickery @KMNbooks @JudgeYourBook #stories #author

VICTORY TALES PRESS is always looking for well-written, engaging tales from all genres.

We release four anthologies per year. Be My Everything, Valentine Collection was our first anthology published for 2016.

Halloween/Fall stories (Title to be announced): The deadline for submissions is Aug. 20th.

Christmas/New Years stories (Title to be announced): The deadline for submissions is Oct. 20th.

The short stories may be any genre as long as there is a romance. The romance doesn't have to be the main focus. The stories may have a western, fantasy, history, time travel or even adventure theme to them. They can be eerie tales and capers, too.

No Chocolates for Valentine’s Day… Flowers and Fangs @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Flowers and Fangs_KMN_mediumWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from last week: Flowers and Fangs Chapter 2 #5

This week's snippet is from Flowers and Fangs.

We're jumping ahead quite a few paragraphs from last week...

Derek and Wade Hayes are at McBride's house investigating if Tim infected his girlfriend. They find a dog there, but otherwise no one is home. The brothers decide to split up. Wade is going back to Tim's house to see if he shows up there, and Wade will watch for Sloane's return at the McBrides' residence.

This is in Derek's POV. Wade just stated that Tim and Sloane could show up here. Derek is speaking first.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit.:)

********************************************************************

"Maybe, but I see no struggle or blood, and the family dog didn't appear agitated. There's a good chance Sloane is only infected and hasn't fully changed yet." When a woman looked like Sloane McBride, a boyfriend wasn't going to just look at her. He would bet his best dagger, Tim Wilkins had nibbled on her neck sometime in the last few days.

"I'll call you if Tim shows," Wade said with a long sigh as he headed for the door.

Derek stared at the photo of Sloane, who stared back at him with such life. She was happy, but so were Tim and Trent and he knew that didn't help them in the least. His gaze shifted to the laptop with the calendar marked with Valentine's dinner with Tim. She probably hadn't planned on flowers and fangs. He placed the photo where it belonged and headed out of the house, turning off lights and locking up.

Blood cocktail for two… Flowers and Fangs @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Flowers and Fangs_KMN_mediumWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

This week's snippet is from Flowers and Fangs.

We're jumping ahead a few paragraphs. Derek and Wade Hayes are at the McBride's house to find out if Tim infected his girlfriend. Wade and Derek are in Sloane's bedroom, searching for clues to where the family might be. Derek is checking out Sloane's computer. This is in Derek's POV.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit.:)

********************************************************************

The first thing that popped up was the calendar with a note: Don't forget to pick up Mom, Dad and Seth at the airport. The date was set for next Monday, and the other date that caught his eye was: Dinner with Tim on Valentine's Day.

"The family is out of town. We only have to worry about Sloane." He turned in his seat to look at Wade. "She marked her calendar for the fourteenth: romantic dinner with Tim. That's tomorrow." He only took note of the date because newly turned vamps tended to hang onto their previous life for sometime after the change. Events that were important tended to be amplified into an obsession.

"I wonder if dinner includes a blood cocktail for two," Wade grumbled, then added, "Did she say where they were going for this fabulous dinner?"

*********************************************************************************

Somehow, I don't believe there will be flowers and chocolates. :)
