World Diabetes Day 2022
Today (14th November) is World Diabetes Day, also the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922. This time last year, I "liked" a couple of awareness posts from acquaintances on social media and thought nothing more of it. Yet, they had planted the seeds in my subconscious that eventually led to my daughter's diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes just 11 days later.

Burlesque and a Break (#TheSundayPost)
I had a fun night out with a couple of friends to an "evening of Burlesque"! I'd never been to anything like that before, but it was fascinating. It's such a beautiful, empowering artform that celebrates women of all shapes and sizes.

Halloween & Bonfire Night Fun (#TheSundayPost)
I was working from home on Monday and Tuesday so that I could look after my daughter, as no one else was trained to use her new insulin pump. On Monday evening, we carved and painted our pumpkins. I was quite proud of mine this year.

Insulin Pump & the Pumpkin Patch (#TheSundayPost)
It's been a busy but fun week. I've been off work and I'm finally feeling better after the flu wiped me out. I spent the first few days at home catching up with chores, reading and watching films with my family. Then I got my hair cut and coloured on Tuesday, which has made me feel human again.

Fighting Off the Flu (#TheSundayPost)
I'm still recovering from what I assume was the flu. It started off as a regular head cold with a productive cough. I seemed to get better for a few days before suddenly coming down with a high temperature, shivering, dizziness and aches and pains all over.

Favourite Features of Fantasy (#IWSG Oct 2022)
Not much writing news of late, except that I had a wonderful time delivering a writing workshop at Boston Book Fest. I did a lot of networking with other authors and joined a few mailing lists for local writers which I think could lead to some exciting opportunities.

Sneezy and Sleepy, But Not Too Grumpy (#TheSundayPost)
Apart from developing a rotten cold that has zapped most of my energy, it's not been a bad week. I've been enjoying my new Literacy groups at work and getting quite a lot ticked off my "to do" list.
