D is for Dreams #AtoZChallenge

Life, the Universe, and Everything According to My Five-Year-Old

This month I’m taking part in the Blogging from A-Z Challenge and will be posting every day except Sundays. My readers voted for the theme “Life, the Universe, and Everything According to My Five-Year-Old”. During bedtime discussions and colouring sessions, my daughter will finally be providing the answers to the philosophical problems and unsolved mysteries that have puzzled humanity’s greatest thinkers for centuries.

Why do we dream?

Me: Why do you think we have dreams?

A is for Afterlife #AtoZChallenge

Life, the Universe, and Everything According to My Five-Year-Old

Today is the first day of the Blogging from A-Z Challenge! I’ll be posting every day except Sundays throughout April. This year, my readers voted for the theme “Life, the Universe, and Everything According to My Five-Year-Old”. During bedtime discussions and colouring sessions, my daughter will finally be providing the answers to the philosophical problems and unsolved mysteries that have puzzled humanity’s greatest thinkers for centuries.

Is there an afterlife and, if so, what is it l...

#AtoZChallenge 2021 Theme Reveal: Cast your vote!

a to z challenge theme reveal graphic

It’s time for the great and powerful Blogging from A-Z Challenge theme reveal! I am so excited to take part in the challenge this April. It will be my 9th time! I am leaving it rather late as usual, but I tend to compose my posts during April rather than preparing them in advance.

Last year, I did an A-Z of Family Fun at Home, providing some ideas and resources for indoor entertainment during the lockdown. It was fun to investigate all the arts and crafts and other activities available, a...

🎈My 12th Blogoversary & a Flash Fic Award (The Sunday Post)

the sunday postThe Latest in my Life

Yesterday was my 12th Blogoversary! Although this blog has been through many reincarnations over the last 12 years, the core theme remains the same and all the old posts can still be found in the archives somewhere. I have become much more of a casual blogger in recent years due to my other commitments, but I think that’s a good thing. I enjoy it a lot more now that I don’t feel the pressure to post reviews all the time. Thank you for reading my ramblings and leavin...

My Favourite Genres to Read (#IWSG March 2021)

Writing Update

I didn’t manage to do much writing last month, other than my flash fiction piece for WEP. Working from home has been pretty draining, and I haven’t felt like writing or editing after being on my laptop all day. I return to working in school from the 8th March and I think once I get back into a routine it will be easier to write then. Plus, the sunshine is starting to come out and it always makes me feel more motivated and creative.

My Favourite Writing Genres

Valentines Day 2021 (The Sunday Post)

the sunday postThe Latest in my Life

Happy Valentines Day! We don’t tend to bother with cards and gifts these days, but we’re getting a takeaway from our favourite Thai restaurant later and will watch a film together. My daughter did make me a cute card with a dinosaur on the front.

We enjoyed playing in the snow this week. We had a great snowball fight one night and my daughter and husband made a couple of snowmen.

I had a calm and productive week at work and on Friday we broke up for half ...

Stacking the Shelves (18): Roald Dahl classics, sci-fi stories and a contemporary drama

stacking the shelves

Today I’m sharing the books I bought, acquired or borrowed this week for Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

Purchases

I bought My Life as a Rat by Joyce Carol Oates because it was chosen for my work book club. It’s a contemporary drama that sounds like it will be far out of my comfort zone. I’m interested to see what I’ll make of it.

My Life as a Rat Gifts & Giveaways

I went through an old box of books from my husband’s childhood and discovered some Roald Dahl cl...
