Happity, hippity birthday here too, Sunheart :) ...
How are you?
https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/kanneliya-dediyagala-nakiyadeniya.html
A Scottish Small Pipes' student just shared the tune "Stool of Repentance" with Robbie Burns poem and sheet music with me (and with reply below:).
Jaima!, Scott

...
Taylor,
Thanks again for sharing this with me.
Here are some thoughts about the name and idea of 'Stool of Repentance' (since the tune itself doesn't appeal to me very much, re my own interests in, and choosing of to my ear, lyrical tunes):
Let's head to philosophy and away from religion (re culture and identity too - Scottish heritage-wise esp.) in thinking about this religiously punitive idea (and here's a philosopher in a Scottish philosopher David Hume tradition even in these regards of amazing thinking about ideas - https://youtu.be/BMLIdwT8OSU - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/kanneliya-dediyagala-nakiyadeniya.html ).
And psychologically, and language-wise, especially, (psychiatrically for Scots today even???)
I head from
> stool of repentance > (to the shit of religiously focused remorse, in historic Scotland, as well as attempts at social control)> to sitting playing music daily (exploring doing this enjoyably without regret)> (to also sit in meditation on attunement,> to soaking in the ease of at-one-ment, in a virtual Harbin Hot Springs, for ex.)> to Yo Yo Ma playing virtuosically on his seat on the concert stage :) ...> ... to the mind-flight of composing (eg a new great tune)
What do you think about the idea of 'stool of repentance' and navigating its negative religious connotations even? (I'm asking in part as a nontheist Friend or agnostic/atheist Quaker, with Unitarian Universalist parents, and some identification there, as a Yogi, inspired by Angela & Victor, and as a Harbinite - kind of a Harbin Hot Springs' hippy anthropologist even:)?
Appreciating both Robbie Burns (and poetic, and as the Scots' national hero/poet even) and Dick Hensold rebellious takes on the idea / experience??? too ... :)
Musical cheers, Scott
How to help create a freedom for people via individual's agency from such, what I think of as, horrors in culture (and this kind of thinking is old and ingrained in Scotland, for ex. - time for online psychiatry at WUaS to help students, and Scots too, move beyond this, and Jacques Lacan MD-wise, too even) :)?

Scott:

Here’s the tune from my book (there may be a highland-ized version somewhere; I found one for Lads of Alnwick). The sixth part illustrates the long “crests” I mentioned, for lack of a better term. Border music seems to feature it a lot.

Here’s also one rendition on Border Pipes in D: https://youtu.be/SQ5l8g9MuzE

To interpret 'stool of repentance' as name (for me) in a positive light,
here's a picture of Yo Yo Ma (a hero of mine, and teacher in a way) playing on his stool of repentance :) ...
visible on the front page of the Boston Globe now

... or in the Tor Browser here - https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/09/10/opinion/music-soothe-these-beastly-times/ -

But I forgot that one often can't see pictures in Tor Browser from the Boston Globe website - best to view it on the cover of the paper now while it's posted and visible at bottom but better even on your smartphone!

 Hi, Scott.

I was playing around with drones the other evening to see what works with the Baritone in F. It's difficult to tune it in a way that works with the A chanter. I can make the drones somewhat harmonize if the bass drone is at the bottom of the tuning pin, but it still sounds like noise when I include the chanter. I hypothesize a Bb chanter might work, although not as well as with a set of drones that the Bb set comes with. Any ideas?
I've been working more on the seconds to Mason's Apron. I think when we convened last on the matter, we were actually discussing seconds for the reel version which is attached. Seeing as I only have parts one and two of the reel, I plan to switch to the hornpipe and compose seconds for at least the third part next. I'm trying to give the seconds a sort of logic rhythm this time around.
See you soon!
Taylor

Hi Taylor

I was thinking how, in a related vein, it might be interesting to explore turning off the baritone drone, until we have a reason to use it for specific musical expression - so to use it with intention, in order to make music with it (and not just as a kind of background tone). Scottish piping doesn't, in my experience, do this - play them with intention to add something to highland bagpiping music - with the other 3 drones of the GHB, but with the new SSP baritone drone, I see a creative opportunity to invent. This may involve learning more about the keys of tunes, and similar - and possibly even to compose SSP tunes for the baritone drone (since this would involve a kind of mastery learning re composition too). Let's talk further about this on Thursday.
Will check out your Mason's Apron in the morning. Appreciating your creativity in both regards.
Musical cheers,

Scott

Very cool ... looking forward to playing with it on my A chanter ... more in the lesson!

Cheers,

Scott

Trevor, Piers, Nontheist Friends, Agnostic / Atheist Quakers,
Would you like to do some NtF archive sleuthing for people's views, as a kind of journalism experience? I'd think, for example, that Anita Bower's NtF, very humane, and sensible views would be very interesting to summarize in a 400 word document for example. I went to - https://groups.google.com/my-groups?pli=1 (from this gmail address) - and found the NtF group, and then was able to begin to look through past emails. (My plate is pretty full with Friendly-informed World Univ & Sch, but there's a lot of potential for 'Your Views' in these past emails).

Virtual Nasdaq ESG Summit taking place on September 22, 2020

https://www.nasdaq.com/nasdaq-ESG-virtual-summit-2020

It's this June 9, 2020 email to the following, and this Stanford Law SVDX Environmental, Social, and Corp. Governance (ESG) panel - https://www.svdx.org/past-events/2020/6/9/webinar-esg-resiliency-in-a-time-of-turmoil (https://www.svdx.org/past-events/2020/9/webinar-spacs) - that lead to attending today the "Virtual Nasdaq ESG Summit taking place on September 22, 2020" ...

Scott MacLeod <sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org>Tue, Jun 9, 9:17 AMto LarryIulianJulianPeterScottvejetaYuping-CASPAKoh, Larry, Govind, Kyle, tito, Juan, Jayni, Yuping-CASPADear Larry, Govind, Yuping, Jayni, Kyle, Tito, Juan, Julian, WUaS Board members, & All,

One of the panelists today - "Kellie Huennekens is Head of ESG Research at Nasdaq" - is from Nasdaq - https://www.svdx.org/calendar/2020/6/9/esg-resiliency-in-a-time-of-turmoil-webinar .  Brainstorming-wise further, could the NASDAQ stock exchange fund, or invest in, the emerging Silicon Valley long term stock exchange, which has passed one SEC hurdle? And could the WUaS Corporation list itself on this emergent stock exchange, 'under the wing of Alphabet/Google'?  Stay tuned (and these SVDX presentations are open I think; I met Yuping in a Stanford Law SVDX meeting, for example).
ESG is an acronym for 'environmental, social, and governance' and refers to socially responsible investing (for which there's 1 + wiki subject at WUaS as well - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Investing_-_Socially_Responsible and relating to https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Index_Investing and https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Peace_and_Social_Justice_Studies and other f/Friendly concerns).
Sincerely, Scott

Nancy,Thanks so much for adding this question to the list for today's webinar - https://www.svdx.org/calendar/2020/6/9/esg-resiliency-in-a-time-of-turmoil-webinar
"Brainstorming-wise, what role could UBI experiments in all ~200 countries and their main languages, in order to distribute a single cryptocurrency (with block chain ledger), facilitate further ESG goals, (and even conceptually regarding all 7.5 billion people, re universal, to alleviate poverty)? What if a hypothetical "Mine Pi" (coded by Stanford students), or a "Bitcoin" could even be listed, by a company with its Board, on the emerging Silicon Valley long term stock exchange (which has passed one SEC hurdle, I've read) - and, for example, to address the 40 million unemployment claims in the US due to the novel coronavirus pandemic? Thank you, Scott (sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org)"
... and, for further question context for panelists, such a single cryptocurrency would be backed by some number of ~200 countries' central banks (post Euro in 19 out of 28 nation states, and post dollar as de facto international currency)? This could be because WUaS Law Schools in all ~200 countries' official languages code for this, and our WUaS Law Faculty teach this too - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Law_School

Stanford Law CodeX  ... and Identity Verification ...

(last Thursday)

In email:

Ramona,

I'm curious how we might explore developing this further conceptually. Could we even explore a conference call together? In developing MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School, WUaS would like to plan to code for all 7.5 billion people on the planet, in all ~200 countries (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/You%20at%20WUaS). How might we focus this with regard to the GDPR, and your presentation? Thank you.

Thank you, Ramona, for your great Stanford Law CodeX presentation now! Am interested in exploring building out identity verification even re Wikidata Q-tiem #. Best regards, Scott ( scottmacleod.com and worlduniversityandschool.org and https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States )

Ramona, what endeavors do you see so far in Europe regarding building out identity verification and GDPR? Thank you, Scott - (In what ways could a collaboration between Europe and California, legally and technically help, for ex., and even regarding the You at WUaS idea - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2020/09/agenda-news-for-open-world-univ-sch.html - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/asian-emerald-cuckoo-agenda-news-for.html ?)

Ramona Weik:

Hi Scott, sorry for taking a little while to respond. I'm pretty busy . So, to answer your question, as I pointed out in the meeting I can only speak for my experiences with the right of access. Many companies appear to be insecure about how to verify identity best. GDPR states that verification methods and procedures that are already being used e. g. regarding online accounts should be used before requesting additional verification data. Also, identity verification is especially required if there are reasonabe doubts that the requestor is not the person the personal information belongs to. However, many companies in Europe prefer the "safest way" and verify identity rather a little too much than risking compliance failure. So, in Germany the ID card copy -from my experience- is one of the most often used means to ensure identity. The problem is that, if you request access electronically, they often want you to send the ID card copy via mail, which - if they don't offer safe transmission- poses additional risks on the data of data subjects. To decide which ID verification method is the best depends a lot on how the company works. To find a common standard is difficult, since e. g. health data is a lot more sensitive than IP addresses. To decide which method should be used, the types of data, the organization structure, risk assesment and other factors should be taken into account. I can't really tell which steps have been taken to find a common standard. Apparently, there isn't enough jurisdiction either. What I remember is that the EU will review GDPR implications this year. Maybe they'll come up with some ideas for further clarification, also regarding ID verification.

In my opinion, there are many organizations who can be grouped, e. g. online retailers. Maybe the approach for different groups with similar types of data coud be useful.

Hope this'll help a bit.

Best,

Ramona

Thanks so much, Ramona! More later. Best regards, Scott

To my knowledge this is difficult- The EU has too many different jurisdictions and judicial systems with different rules about public access to judicial decisions. But courts do look at each other at a certain level, so I think that the more developments come from one side Eg California, the more the pressure on EU courts to open and allow access to more material.

Great to know about WUaS - thank you for the information

How related EU jurisdictions/ systems' and California law questions come together legally, and information technology-wise newly, and in conversation even, are fascinating - and re court documents. Perhaps World Univ & Sch's law faculties can even begin to teach about these questions, and in the process develop new law - perhaps even regarding identity verification in both places, and re the GDPR / CCPA too. Might your court documents' research find further form with these two systems? (Do you use Google Translate very much in your court documents' research? WUaS is seeking to create a Universal Translator too for such, and re NLP https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/WUaS_Universal_Translator).

Thank you for your CodeX talk, and your message, Argyri! - Best regards, Scott (WUaS is seeking to code for all 7.5 billion people on the planet for a number of initial reasons at You at WUaS - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University, each a Wikidata Q-item # or derivative Wikidata PIN# ... in what ways could this relate to your court documents' research, I wonder? ... https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Law ) Thank you!

Virtual Nasdaq ESG Summit taking place on September 22, 2020

It's this June 9, 2020 email to the following, and this Stanford Law SVDX Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) panel - https://www.svdx.org/past-events/2020/6/9/webinar-esg-resiliency-in-a-time-of-turmoil (https://www.svdx.org/past-events/2020/9/webinar-spacs) - that lead to attending today the "Virtual Nasdaq ESG Summit taking place on September 22, 2020" ...

Best,

Ramona

Scott MacLeod  10:54 AM

Thanks so much, Ramona! (Thanks to your Stanford Law CodeX I touched on identity verification in World Univ & Sch's Monthly Business Meeting, the recent Agenda & News, and in today's WUaS News, Q&A, and Livestream - https://youtu.be/IsBrCEdfCk8 and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/asian-emerald-cuckoo-agenda-news-for.html - and am thinking in terms of identity verification for all 7.5 billion people, each a Wikidata Q-item # / Wikidata PIN #, and even retinal, fingerprint, or genetic identity verification from all 7 billion smart phones with time - and with legal privacy issues worked out: ). More later. Best regards, Scott

Your edX Online Campus Inquiry - and now developing a free-to-students' best STEAM CC-4 OCW-centric Bachelors' degree program in WUaS's 6 majors for January 2021

Scott MacLeod <sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org>4:12 PM (5 hours ago)to cmcgarity, Matthew, Marissa, Larry, cameron.kaubrisHi Matthew and Carolina, All,
Thanks for our hour-long meeting, Matthew, just now, and looking forward to all three of us meeting on Wednesday at 11am PT, 2pm ET. Looking forward, in particular, to beginning to outline courses from edX - as part of the edX Online Campus - for our MIT OCW-centric World University and School matriculating undergraduate students beginning in January 2021 in these 6 majors, Carolina: 1) EECS, 2) General Science, 3) General Engineering, 4) English, 5) History, and 6) Business. These WUaS degrees would be 4 years long, first in English, and be studied by WUaS matriculating students, conceptually and initially, from Sri Lanka, India, Poland, Peru, Germany, Greece, Scotland, and the US, and maybe some of the other ~200 countries in the world.
This free-to-students' Bachelor's degree would involve, for example, a WUaS English literature student taking courses in her/his English major, as well as distribution requirements. As an example of distribution requirements, and which WUaS will seek to build upon, see these Reed College distribution requirements - https://www.reed.edu/registrar/pdfs/distribution-requirements-effective-fall-2019.pdf. (I graduated from Reed College in the first half of the 1980s). Regarding majoring in English at WUaS, WUaS will seek too to build from the English major requirements here - https://www.reed.edu/english/requirements.html. And how at edX are course credit units taking shape, and would this be licensable and accreditable by WUaS in the state of California's organizations? I have in mind the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (https://twitter.com/CaBPPE and https://www.bppe.ca.gov/ - for which I've attended a day long workshop in February 2019, but which is probably in transition regarding online degrees, but which said they'd license both Bachelor, and Ph.D. degrees), and, then concurrently, WASC senior - https://www.wscuc.org/ and https://twitter.com/wascsenior - (which accredits Stanford, UC Berkeley, the other UCs, and many more west coast and some international universities) and with which/whom I spoke with Dick Osborne, a VP there, for 1.25 hours in his office in Alameda/Oakland in 2013 or so. These two agencies work together for the first two years, and then there's, or was, a 3 stage WASC senior accreditation process, where WUaS has to graduate our first undergraduate class after 4 years to become fully accredited. Carolinia, how might we find possibly as many as 1200 edX courses, for full loads, for potentially 400 matriculating undergraduate students beginning in January for a 4 month term (January 1-April 20, 2021), taking edX courses that are 15-16 weeks long, or the equivalent in combining shorter edX courses (and something like MIT OCW in their length, and quality - so about the equivalent of 4 MIT OCW courses in the first term). While MIT OCW > MITx courses - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/mitx-related-courseware/ - might be a good idea for our matriculating WUaS STEM students, there are very little to no English or history courses (and possibly only a few business courses), and these courses might also be too challenging initially for students studying in English as a second language, and also unfamiliar with American academic courses, on-the-ground or online. So, brainstorming-wise, Carolina (and Matthew), what questions might you have before our meeting on Wednesday? Thank you and looking forward to talking with you on Wednesday at 11am PT.
(And how might WUaS even do outreach to students around the world in collaboration with edX, if and as we develop approaches to partnering with edX Online Campus further). (WUaS seeks, too, to eventually hire 2.2 million people in all 200 countries and in all 7,117 languages, so these 6 majors would inform this too).
Thanks again for meeting, Matthew!
Best regards, Scott

[NTF-talk] What Experience Teaches (David Lewis - 1981)

Scott MacLeod11:04 AM (1 hour ago)to nontheist-friends@googlegroups.com UnsubscribeNontheist Friends,
I found this awesome talk by Princeton philosopher David Kellogg Lewis about experience and consciousness in a way (and which touches on California parapsychology in passing too! :) ... (I'm wondering if he has Quaker roots since he went to Swarthmore. Does anyone know?)
What Experience Teaches (David Lewis - 1981)https://youtu.be/BMLIdwT8OSUhttps://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/great-swamp-national-wildlife-refuge.html

He grew up in Ohio (his parents were professors at Oberlin, and he went to Swarthmore College, with its Quaker roots, as an undergraduate, and then to Oxford, and he has a Harvard Ph.D. as well ... I am wondering, too, whether this focus on experience in his talk, and throughout his philosophy, could be informed by Friends / Quakerly thinking in his younger years :))
What do you think about this talk, and his philosophy?
There's lots of friendly nontheism among great philosophers in general (in what I've observed).

Scott MacLeod11:57 AM (1 hour ago)to nontheist-friends@googlegroups.comNontheist Friends, atheist Quakers, All,
Here's an overview of David Lewis's thinking from the amazing Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, (which does something different regarding philosophy, and Stanford-inspired, as a culture or ethos even , I think) - https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/david-lewis/. I'm particularly interested in Lewis's work regarding 'possible worlds' and as another new philosophical basis for my actual-virtual, physical-digital Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic project. (I touch on both Quakers, and philosophical bases for virtual worlds in my "Naked Harbin Ethnography" book from 2016). And Lewis's thinking about 'possible worlds' in far-reaching philosophically.
While I just found a number of Stanford Encylopedia of Philosophy entires mentioning Quakers - https://plato.stanford.edu/search/searcher.py?query=quakers - the SEP does have one specificie entry on
Atheism and Agnosticismhttps://plato.stanford.edu/entries/atheism-agnosticism/
And how can one know whether or not a divine exists (hence the logic of agnosticism:)?
But am also appreciating the value of Quaker ethics (and with regards to a variety of ethics in the philosophical ethical thinking enterprise), non theistically Friendly-wise, and otherwise.

David Lewis and others have worked out many aspects of HS in great detail. A larger motivational question, however, remains unanswered: As Lewis admits, there is strong evidence from fundamental physics that HS is false. What then is the purpose of defending HS? In this paper, we argue that the philosophical merit of HS is largely independent of whether it correctly represents the world’s fundamental structure. In particular, we show that insofar as HS is an apt model of the world’s higher-level structure, it thereby provides a powerful argument for reductive physicalism and explains otherwise opaque inferential relations. Recent criticism of HS on the grounds that it misrepresents fundamental physical reality is, therefore, beside the point.KeywordsAnalytic Philosophy  Contemporary PhilosophyCategoriesBest-Systems Analyses in General Philosophy of ScienceHumean Supervenience in MetaphysicsHumeanism and Nonhumeanism about Laws in General Philosophy of ScienceMethodology in Metaphysics in MetaphysicsPhysicalism about the Mind, Misc in Philosophy of Mind(categorize this paper)DOI10.5840/jphil2020117723

Appreciating too that John Repique (photographer of Friends' Hospital Tweet) is a nurse, may have grown up in the Religious Society of Friends and is advocating for mental health.
Thoughts, questions, ideas, suggestions for online NtF-informed MD psychiatry, and even regarding Asylum - since Friends' Hospital is the oldest continuously operated hospital for mental illness in the US (since 1813 oe 1817)?
Nontheistic Friendliness may well open new ways of conceiving of psychiatry, and regarding language especially (and I write too with Lacanian inclinations, see - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/Jacques%20Lacan%20MD).
It could be fascinating to develop an online excellent (am thinking Stanford-inspired) lecture series out of Friends' Hospital and by psychiatrists and thinkers in these regards (and am also thinking in terms of a realistic virtual Harbin as part of such asylum potentials - https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualHarbin?src=hashtag_click).

to PinTymEd, JanieHi, Ma, Tym, Pin, Ed,

Emailed Berkeley physics' grad student John Groh yesterday evening, who may be organizing in part the 'Kensington house' in seeking a new housemate ... (see my email from this morning to my mother below).
Just emailed Tourism Studies' Working Group folks too, since there had been some confusing communications about a Zoom TSWG meeting yesterday evening or not -
to sgindin, Nelson, Tourism, Bertram, Dean, Amir, Amir, Juliet, Jing, LaurenceThanks, Nelson and Bert, for the updates.
Hoping to tune in next week,Scott
PSThanks too for the opportunity to have given four talks in the TSWG since 2012 - see: Tuesday, February 20, 2018"Blue borage: 4th Harbin Hot Springs' actual-virtual ethnographic talk on 2/23/2018 at UC Berkeley TSWG this Friday."
http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/02/blue-borage-4th-harbin-hot-springs.html
- and one in lieu, even, of book readings in Lake County public libraries after the publication of my 2016 "Naked Harbin Ethnography" - https://www.amazon.com/author/scottmacleodworlduniversity - which readings, and the writing of too, might contribute to bringing a kind of ethics (anthropologically and writing informed) to Harbin - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethics - and perhaps newly in a realistic virtual Harbin for #ActualVirtual anthropology, text in the sidebar.
PPS
"Japanese honeysuckle: A beginning virtual Gradara village in Google Street View, which we - and all tourists - could further add to, as a preamble to an Actual-Virtual Harbin Hot Springs’ TSWG talk here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/tour - soon * * * Rohit (India), Sri (Sri Lanka), Marisol (Stanford and Peru), Peter (Germany), Partha, (USA and West Bengal) - an email conversation with Poland World University and School regarding its development"

PPPSOpen WUaS Monthly Business Meeting in about 10 minutes - "Asian emerald cuckoo: Agenda & News for open World Univ & Sch Monthly Business Meeting AND the WUaS Corp on Sat. 9/19/20 at 9am Pacific Time"
https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/asian-emerald-cuckoo-agenda-news-for.html

Am not clear how questions of ethics play out in California and differentially regarding the rest of the country, but am glad to have just finished WUaS Monthly Business Meeting, and touched briefly on identity verification re GDPR even - re all 7.5 billion people on planet - which raise ethical & legal questions too, and even re privacy (and possibly the illegal sex trade even, in all ~200 countries, for example). On with my search for a new place, a hassle, - and due I think to calling the Moraga police and making an official report about an illegal break in and entry on the night of 7/26/20 when I was sleeping! "It's not fair" Psychiatrist Lacanian George Alexander MD taught his parakeet to say - and because he heard this from his analysands a lot? ...  C'est possible ...
I suppose seeking a new place to live is a form, for me, of the Desiderata's "Exercise caution in your business affairs, ..."..." - but face no consequences, social justice and law-wise.
It would be great to find, however, a great place to live in this search soon, since that would indeed be exercising caution in my business affairs ( ... ??) ... Am an appreciator of social justice and law, and peace! :)
Friendly regards,Scott

Nice to talk last night.
On with the house search. Living by myself has some merit, but I emailed John Groh last night asking if the opening was still available; I could move later into one of the 2 cottages/garden apts. Will begin to look further at the lists too, and seek to post something as well.
Am wishing I could begin field work at Harbin again soon, in some ways, both actually and virtually - but socioculturally the same issues of ethics emerge around Harbin and Middletown as around Canyon and Berkeley - as I seek to navigate people stuff. I think George Alexander's Lacanian psychoanalytic psychiatric thinking has been helpful in both these places, but the Desiderata (and re below too) doesn't touch on computers, a field George mentioned with regards to career, and which - computers - do inform many aspects of my career, including the above Harbin project and my big educational project. Monthly Business Meeting for big educational project is in 1.3 hours, ... And then on with housing search.
I hope your book group is enjoyable, and that you will have read salient parts of it by tonight.
Appreciating greatly Ma your wonderfulness! Thank you!
Love, Scott
I use the same pronoun - me - below which you used in talking last night, but it fits ...

Ma,
I guess this writing process to you in part involves me to
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others

from https://www.desiderata.com/desiderata.html

as well as

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,

... where I think continuing to look for a new place is a form of exercising caution in my business affairs ... (if possibly questions of law and justice could be playing out, unbeknownst to me, and re this 670 Ridgecrest Canyon 94516 place too).
So as I continue to
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings

writing and language are a help!
And so ...
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Thanks for your support and understanding, Ma!
Love, Scott

Dear Soumya, Naveen and Sanjeev,
Thank you for your amazing "Reducing Disparities: Democratizing Access to Healthcare Globally" panel discussion this morning - https://ungaguide.com/event/reducing-disparities-democratizing-access-to-healthcare-globally/. In addition to the questions I asked (below), Soumya, Sanjeev, and Naveen, I'm curious about some of your thoughts about data, Soumya, and, brainstorming-wise, #AvatarBotElectronicMedicalRecords for all 7.5 billion people, and in ~200 countries and in their official languages (say emerging out of Kaiser Permanente EHR, and out of EPIC, conceptually). How might the WHO be thinking about some of the related data implications? (And great to have heard your Stanford Medicine Grand Rounds' talk in 2017, Sanjeev - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/06/torrubiella-stanford-grand-rounds.html). MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch, which I'm developing, seeks to facilitate #AvatarBotElectronicMedicalRecords - https://twitter.com/hashtag/AvatarBotElectronicMedicalRecords?src=hashtag_click - and even in one realistic virtual earth for tele-robotic surgery, for ex. - https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForSurgery?src=hashtag_click. Here's the idea in another way:

https://twitter.com/HarbinBook/status/1304490767507886080?s=20

And here are some related questions I asked:Sanjeev, and Soumya, Thank you! In what ways could Project ECHO be extended - and even as nascent online medical schools in the developing world - to the remaining 164 of the ~206 countries (in recent Olympics), beyond the 42 countries that Project ECHO is already in? And how have you addressed already issues of lack of computers/internet and not knowing the language, in the 42 Project ECHO countries thus far? Thanks for the brilliant Project ECHO. Scott (sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Medical_School)
(Leonard, in what ways, as a Namibian, could you see Project ECHO to become even a beginning online Medical School in Namibia? Thanks, Scott (https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Namibia and https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States and https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Medical_School))
How might we best communicate further about the above, data, avatar bot electronic medical records, and online MIT OCW-centric medical schools with online teaching hospitals for online clinical care and research in all ~200 countries, and in their languages?
Thank you so much for your great panel conversation. And looking forward to 'What Have We Learned About the Clinical Management of COVID-19 Patients?'

Good Piobaireachd lesson, Taylor!
Next week ...

ARegarding Drones' singing (& meditation in a sense), here again is - Stuart Liddell’s March, Strathspey and Reel at the Glenfiddich Piping Championship 2016Stuart Liddell’s March, Strathspey and Reel at the Glenfiddich Piping Championship 2016 from The National Piping Centre on Vimeo.https://vimeo.com/189780961At 2:20 the MC says: Stuart "doesn't worry about psychological things" :) ... I think Stuart's playing & drones go toward the serene (am departing from the announcer's thinking:)
Can we make our SSP drones SING like this? It can take a lifetime of piping and meditation with piping :)
I recall a moment where Stuart's awareness and the audiences too kind of focused on the drones in the march, as I was observing this in the past, but am not observing this now (Is there also a Stuart Liddell Glen Fiddich video like this from 2019 - with ceremonial guards even, I wonder?:) ... it's a kind of consciousness or awareness focus by Stuart which I learn much from.
But his drones sing throughout here - wonderfully - and informing the brain as a kind of meditation (I postulate)! :))
(Re this Stuart Liddle performance: I'm playing John Morrison, Assynt House here on my "Honey in the Bag" Album, and I may come back to playing "Susan MacLeod" as well - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/02/western-honey-bee-re-my-upcoming-honey.html).

Let's also explore further with the baritone drone for the following week in both E and F, if you can slide your drone that much to tune to these pitches.

Taylor,

Great to explore Piobaireachd with you, Explore 'taking' the Ground, and variations 1 & 2 from Angus MacLellan daily this week, to learn especially the genre or patterns of note duration which may well inform the other 200-300 Piobaireachds you could conceivably, or might, eventually play. There's something about learning I think the subtleties early on from Angus MacLellan from the CoP's Yellow Tutor (and then bring in wee Donald's playing of "The Company's Lament" for comparison, for ex.) that is a wonderful basis for this great music!
Musical cheers,
Scott

2
edX courses 'audit' into 'verified' at World Univ & Sch?

A 2nd WUaS-edX meeting on Monday, 21 September 2020:

In talking with Marissa and Matthew of edX, and specifically about WUaS partnering with edX Online Campus on Monday, 9/13/20, and scheduling a talk again this upcoming Monday, with Matthew, a head of business development at edX, it was interesting to learn that he's in Sacramento, California. World Univ & Sch is exploring the idea of facilitating a single crypto currency backed by most of ~200 countries' central banks, and distributed via Universal Basic Income - UBI - experiments (to alleviate poverty worldwide), re the 'universal' word, via the edX money transfer mechanism, or the emergent WUaS money transfer mechanism. WUaS is seeking to code for speakers of all 7,117 known living languages, and in all ~200 countries, and then all 7.5 billion people on the planet - at You at WUaS ... https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - and could conceivably build upon a state of California in Sacramento, CA, financial information technology infrastructure, and with regards to the Stockton, CA, UBI experiment.

Scott MacLeod is seeking to teach 'Society and Information Technology' -  http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html - beginning in mid-October to WUaS 2nd matriculated undergraduate class, potentially on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8am Pacific Time, 8:30 pm India Time.

Identity verification in all European countries regarding GDPR, and in all ~200 countries and official languages, each a Wikidata Q-item #?

Stanford Law CodeX's Ramona Welk (https://law.stanford.edu/2020/09/16/codex-meeting-september-17th-2020/):
Thank you for your reply to my question: "How do you see identity verification of subjects (DSAR) developing differentially between Europe re GDPR, and, conceptually, re America? Could you see on the horizon a standardized verification process that would be legal in Europe, (and even in most of all ~200 countries?)" I'm interested in exploring building out identity verification even  re Wikidata Q-tiem #.

There's a (Stanford Law SVDX) 'Virtual Nasdaq ESG Summit'  funds' environmental social governance panel - Virtual Nasdaq ESG Summithttps://www.nasdaq.com/nasdaq-ESG-virtual-summit-2020?elqTrackId=17b997c527d94bdeb7e3c748285f5ca2&elq=e608271e94434a05a2a5f59964498fef&elqaid=9521&elqat=1&elqCampaignId=5768 - from 8am -11am then, so I'd be interested in seeing a video, if there will be one available. CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch, in planning to code for all 7.5 billion people on the planet - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - each a wiki teacher or learner, is also interested in facilitating a single cryptocurrency, backed by most of ~200 countries' central banks, via UBI experiments TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY in all ~200 countries and for speakers of all 7,117 known living languages, re the ''universal' word (see UBI - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/UBI - and - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/search/label/UBI).

In talking with Marissa and Matthew of edX, and specifically about WUaS partnering with edX Online Campus on Monday, and scheduling a talk again this upcoming Monday, with Matthew, a head of business development at edX, it was interesting to learn that he's in Sacramento, California. World Univ & Sch is exploring the idea of facilitating a single crypto currency backed by most of ~200 countries' central banks, and distributed via Universal Basic Income - UBI experiments (to alleviate poverty), re the 'universal' word, via the edX money transfer mechanism. WUaS is seeking to code for speakers of all 7,117 known living languages, and in all ~200 countries, and then all 7.5 billion people on the planet, and could conceivably build upon a state of California in Sacramento, CA, financial information technology infrastructure and with regards to the Stockton, CA, UBI experiment. (See, for example - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/05/blue-lotus-agenda-news-5-18-20-world.html - too).

Liebe Antje Kirschner!

Vielen Dank! Here are some of my responses to the survey (which I filled out twice) in this email as well:
Stanford Biodesign Buildathon Participants Surveyhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHWj2Z-QWmWuexSeXPV_RVAx2AslyWxD5Dc2wjvqGEW7Lp0w/viewform?gxids=7628
By filling out this survey you will help us better understand what went well and where we can improve for the next Buildathon. This survey is anonymous. However, if you would like for someone to reach out to you please leave an email address in the comments at the end.

THANK YOU and we hope to see you again next year!

We assume you had some expectations when signing up for the Buildathon. Which of these expectations did we meet? *

Thanks for the opportunity to seek to create 1 App for #AvatarBotElectronicMedicalRecords for 7.5 billion people in ~200 countries (and regarding WUaS Medical Schools, and You at WUaS, for ex.), in a single #RealisticVirtualEarthForSurgery for example.

What role or expertise best reflects your background/experience?

MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School President, CEO, Founder, and Developer, planning online Medical Schools - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Medical_School - with online teaching hospitals - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Hospital - for clinical in each of all ~200 countries' and in their official languages

What did we miss? We'd love to hear your thoughts on anything not covered above or where you'd like to add some detail to an above rating. We appreciate your perspective!

a) Discord, not surprisingly, was a bit discordant for me, b) somehow I couldn't participate any longer after about 11am Saturday morning, c) couldn't create 1 App for #AvatarBotElectronicMedicalRecords for 7.5 billion people in ~200 countries (and regarding WUaS Medical Schools, and You at WUaS, for ex.) - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University, d) would be interested in seeing the videos of presentations from Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning. Thank you for this Stanford Biodesign Buildathon.

And here's a blog entry about the Stanford Biodesign Buildathon as well - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/sida-hermaphrodita-virginia-fanpetals.html.

Alles Gute, Scott
