How Much Does It Cost to Start a Money Making Blog in 2023 (The Cheapest Way)

Today I’m going to show you exactly how much it costs to start a money-making blog in 2023.

Most aspiring bloggers and especially teenage aspiring bloggers don’t have much money to invest in a blog.

Everyone knows that to start a self-hosted WordPress blog you have to invest in hosting, domain name, themes, etc, and there’s no upper limit when it comes to blog investment. You can even hire one of the best Chicago software developers if your budget is ready to support that decision. You can even invest in website accessibility tools that can make your blog user-friendly for all visitors. This too will cost you some money.

But don’t worry,

In this guide, I will share the most affordable ways (The Inu Etc Formula! LOL!) to start a money-making blog in 2023 and I’ll share the minimum amount you need to spend to create a professional-looking, your own, self-hosted WordPress blog.

Let’s dive right in.

How to start a money-making blog

Blogging is proven and one of the oldest ways to make money online. If you have no idea what blogging is and how to start a blog, kindly check out my ultimate guide on how to start a money-making blog.

Where you have to invest your money to start a money-making blog

To start a money-making self-hosted WordPress blog, you have to invest your money in good hosting, domain name, themes, and much more (if you wanna invest more).

You can also build a professional blog without a premium WordPress theme. At our web design company, we use Elementor Pro to build sites for our clients.

If you don’t know how to start a professional blog on your own, you can contact me!

Also, you can’t start and maintain a professional WordPress blog from your smartphone. So, if you don’t have a laptop right now, I suggest you buy a laptop today to blog from anywhere.

This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a commission for purchases made through these links. This commission comes at no extra cost to you. Also, I don’t recommend anything that I don’t believe in.

The Best Web Hosting Service

As an online entrepreneur and a blogger, I have used Bluehost, Siteground, BigRock, Dreamhost, and for our web design company, we have used HostGator, but now I’m using Hostinger, which is the cheapest and the best hosting available online.

Hostinger is one of the most reliable and recommended WordPress hosting companies out there.

It’s a secure and the most affordable web hosting service you can use to start your blogging journey today.

They have one of the best loading speeds and their support team is fast, effective, and friendly.

If you want a fast and reliable web hosting service with great customer support, then Hostinger is perfect for you. They have affordable hosting plans for every budget and each plan comes with tons of useful features.

All their hosting plans include a free domain name, a free SSL certificate, LightSpeed Cache, 1-click WordPress installer, and lots of other useful features.

So what are you waiting for?

Get started today!

Domain Name – Website URL

Hostinger gives you a free domain name when you buy their premium web hosting.

But it’s better to keep your domain and hosting separate from each other to secure your blog.

You can buy top-level domain names from Godaddy, , or any other domain name providers out there.

SSL Certificate

An SSL certificate enables your websites to move from HTTP to HTTPS, which is more secure.

It’s important to make your blog secure using an SSL certificate because it helps your blog rank higher on Google and it ensures that your customers or your blog readers are secure on your website.

Hostinger gives you a free SSL certificate for LIFETIME when you buy any hosting plan from them.

Premium WordPress Theme

A good-looking theme can make all the difference between a boring website to an engaging and interesting website.

There are thousands of easy to customize, beginner-friendly, pre-built premium themes available on many WordPress theme selling marketplace.

If you are a newbie blogger, I recommend Divi by Elegant Themes.

If you want to design a highly customized, extremely well-built, and SEO optimized website, I highly recommend StudioPress by WP Engine.

For my blog, I’m using the Avada theme, which is a premium theme available on ThemeForest, Envato Market.

So, how much money does It cost to start a money-making blog in 2023?

Let’s calculate the actual amount you have to spend per year to start and host your blog online.

Hosting:

Hostinger premium web hosting – $2.59/Month ($2.59*12 = $31.08/Year)

Domain name:

You’ll get a FREE Domain name with Hostinger premium web hosting. Also, you can buy a domain name from GoDaddy or for under 20$/Year.

SSL certificate:

You can use the Cloudflare free SSL certificate on your blog but I recommend Hostinger, you’ll get a FREE SSL certificate (11.99$ value) for lifetime with any Hostinger hosting plan.

WordPress themes:

Lots of premium WordPress themes are available on Themeforest for under 60$.

I’m using Avada, which is a premium WordPress theme available on Themeforest for $59.

The actual cost required to build and run your blog:

So if you follow my blog starting guide and buy the premium hosting plan from Hostinger + a premium WordPress theme from Themeforest, you have to invest $90+ and if you wanna buy a domain name from GoDaddy or , you have to invest $110+ to start a professional blog today.

*I’m using the ‘+’ sign here with the pricing because the tax amount is unknown.

Wanna invest more? There’s no upper limit when it comes to blog investment.

If you’re a rich guy, and you wanna invest more, you can invest in an email marketing service to build an email list.

“Money is on the list”

Email marketing is a huge opportunity to engage with your loyal audience and there are hundreds of ways you can monetize your loyal audience whenever you want.

ConvertKit is the best email marketing service out there but there are more affordable alternatives available online such as Mailerlite, Aweber, MailChimp, Sendinblue, etc.

For Inuidea, I use Mailerlite, it’s a beginner-friendly email marketing and automation tool that lets you create beautiful and professional email forms that fit with your branding.

Mailerlite has a free plan that allows you to have up to 1000 subscribers. It’s a better alternative to MailChimp thanks to its easy-to-customize features.

If you wanna invest more to make more money from your blog, you can invest in ads, premium WordPress plugins such as WP Rocket, services such as Tailwind, SendOwl, Canva, Grammarly, and more.

How to Build a Career as an SEO Freelancer in 2023

Every newbie and student must be aware of this. SEO, copywriting, and digital marketing are some of the most sought-after skills.

As per LinkedIn’s 2020 Workplace Learning Report: analytics reasoning, affiliate marketing, and video production were among the top 10 most in-demand hard skills. And SEO – well, it remained one of the top professional skills employers sought after.

Undoubtedly, SEO is one of the hottest, most alluring, and trending industries, and it´s a true opportunity for the creative guy and research buddy who adores continuously increasing his knowledge and keeping himself updated. Some SEO consultants like mine didn’t plan to commit their careers to SEO but started completely by accident.

So today, I’m going to share with you some tips and strategies that will support an awesome SEO career and add lots of value to growing your SEO career in the industry.

A Successful SEO Freelancing Journey Requires Consistency

We get to a remarkable discovery that had significant impacts and influences on many gurus who started their SEO freelancer or consulting business. You´ve probably heard about it or read about it many times before – it is the notion of consistency.

Every business is adapting to a digital transformation, and their owners want to strengthen their SEO, social media marketing, and branding efforts. Indeed, they want a digital marketing freelancer or consultant to drive the campaign in the right direction.

As a freelance SEO, you simply need to show the right approach and skills on how to market your clients’ businesses.

Every profession demands the fullest commitment, passion, and heart to get success.

Right?

What’s more exciting about SEO is that it never gets boring, and there are always new things to test and more to discover.

At times, it can be a slow success in some client cases, taking months, if not years, to fluctuate (upwards) the traffic and rankings. Without passion and consistency, the freelancing journey can’t be that fun and game you thought it was.

Don’t be a freelancer who commits a misstep – neglects this critical aspect and starts to lose that passion pretty soon.

Skills are important, but passion will make you stand in front of competitors.

Think of SEO Career Route

When pursuing a career in SEO, you need to keep in mind that there are different career options for you to choose from.

While you’re thinking of building a career in SEO, do you want to act like a freelancer? Do you want to join an SEO agency for industry experience? What’s your mindset?

Working as a freelancer simply means you’re deciding to work for yourself from the luxury and comfort of your home. You’ve a complete choice of how you want to shape your career and what kind of clients you would want to work for.Another option is to work at an SEO agency and gain live SEO experience under the guidance of an SEO project manager. You’ll likely be assisting your project manager in building and managing SEO projects, link building, analytics reporting, and various other tasks for their numerous clients. The last option is – you can join in-house for an organization in the industry you are passionate about.Gain Enough Knowledge and Live Experience

To refine your SEO knowledge and expertise, read wide.

If you are really interested to build your specialties in technical SEO, look for blog posts, white papers, and research about website UI/UX, architecture, navigation, measuring website speed, SEO checklist, and everything else related to that, including structured data mark-up.

MOZ, HubSpot, SEO by the Sea, and Search Engine Land are all great resources to learn all things SEO.

Luckily, there are tons of materials available everywhere on the net, and there are places you can take free training.

Google Search Central Blog is the place where you can read official Google core algorithm updates, upcoming news about the latest Google search features, and the best recommendations for SEO.Search Engine Journal covers a wide range of news, insights, and guides for the SEOs and search marketers related to SEO, PPC, content marketing, and social media marketing.Backlinko – Brian Dean is the guy, and Backlinko is the blog to look for next-level SEO training and link-building strategies for beginners, marketers, and business owners.Yoast SEO Blog – Yoast SEO experts share the useful and actionable insights you need to know about WordPress and technical SEO.The SEMrush blog covers a bunch of topics related to keyword analysis, On-Page SEO, content marketing, and content audit.

What you should avoid doing is becoming a textbook case. Don’t just read. Practice what you read and learn from your mistakes or success.

Apart from Technical SEO, learn:

HTML and CSSCopywriting and blogging skillsDesign skills (at least, you should be PRO with design applications like Canva or Visme)Hands-on knowledge of Search AlgorithmsMust be PRO with using SEO tools like Ahrefs, SEMRush, and Majestic SEO.Data analysisGoogle penalties and recoveryKeyword researchAdvanced methods of link building, andReporting segment.

Generally speaking, there are two ways to acquire knowledge:

The first one is by paying how to learn it, by investing time and money in courses, training, programs, book, and systems. The second one is to learn everything by yourself through research, but I doubt that you´ll be able to figure out everything by yourself.

The latter option will cost you multiple times more time than the former one, more nerves, and more headaches, and I don´t think you´ll be able to learn everything through free content on the web.

Be Goal Focused

Always have a plan for performing SEO, and do not fall into the rut of having a common strategy for everything. You will need to plan according to what works best for a particular website. At the same time, do not divulge all your secrets to your potential employers, even if they really end up hiring you. Some tricks should not be let out into the open if you want to keep your significance.

While many business owners and brands would be willing to hire you to handle their SEO, many are still lacking knowledge of how SEO and search engines work. They don’t know about the priorities, and they just want results. Being able to prove ROI to companies or your clients is essential to an ongoing business relationship.

Therefore, your SEO strategy should cover visibility, traffic, and ROI as the essential goals of the campaign.

Include critical SEO KPIs into your SEO reports and help your manager/Client understand their impact on the overall growth and success of marketing. It can be difficult to make them understand the data, but using Google Analytics and Data Studio would allow you to visually represent the data so that they can monitor it easily.

Timely Execution

The website’s complexity of what’s doable should not degrade the focus of an SEO marketing program. A big part of an SEO consultant’s job is to analyze crawling and SEO issues, research competitors, extract insights, and present recommendations in a way that balances options with priorities.

Prioritization is the key factor in the overall success of any marketing campaign. The development team should take this as a positive note that SEO recommendations can have the most consequence (short and long term), and of course, are good guidelines to go by.

Keep Working on Your Strength

Even though it looks like there is a single discipline, there are tons of areas you can specialize if you are in the industry.

For example, let’s say you want to be a link builder, you may want to be an outreach specialist, or you may want to be a specialist in prospecting.

Once you know what you love doing, spend more time getting better at it. This does not mean you should not spend time improving your weaknesses. Hardly have I seen an SEO who doesn’t know how to do almost all the moving parts of the SEO process, but as you grow and probably join a bigger team, your strength will set you apart.

Keep Testing and Experimenting with Your SEO Knowledge

So you think you know ins-and-outs of SEO? Let’s go ahead and put that knowledge to the test.

SEO is no longer a traditional keyword-oriented model, and it takes so much to cover a full-blown SEO campaign as Google keeps altering its ranking algorithm.

If you have innovative approaches for SEO, you can do so by testing your ideas on a testing website before you execute them on your clients’ websites. SEO has always been about small experiments and taking the resulting data to better strategizes the next experiments.

Be your own first client. Run a blog and grow it using all the techniques you are learning.

Work on Your Personal Branding

Personal branding for freelancers is all about finding out who you are and crafting your career around the true you. It’s also about constantly improving your online reputation.

As I discussed above, run a blog or a portfolio website.

When applying to SEO jobs on Upwork, Fiverr, or Freelancer, it is a standard practice to add in your primary website if you have one, as well as include previous websites you have worked on or even current blogs and affiliates sites you might run at present.

Your experience is, of course, the key selling point so take your time over it. You want to clearly state your experience in each area of SEO in separate paragraphs. Be brief but include all relevant information such as “SEO campaign manager for two years.”

A portfolio is perhaps the single most important item to have in place when trying to apply for an SEO job. Your portfolio should show all your professional qualifications and all the sites you have done previous SEO work for, and the successes you have had. Given the nature of the SEO market, having this online is incredibly beneficial.

Your social media personal profiles should be a snapshot of your expertise. If you’re looking for the attention of top-notch SEO agencies and SAAS brands for new SEO collaboration and no one is contacting you, start editing your profile regularly until you’ve got success.

Final Thoughts – How to Build a Career as an SEO Freelancer in 2023

SEO as a freelancing career is one of the skills that are not likely to evaporate anytime soon. As long as search engines exist and people use them to find information online, their job role will continue to exist. Provided you produce a good ROI, communicate effectively, and meet timely delivery, you’ll find more freedom, better work-life balance, and no more 9-to-5.

Now It’s Your Turn!

The Cold Email Formula: How To Write Cold Emails That Get Clients

Are you sending cold emails to get clients but not getting any response?

Don’t worry, It’s not just you.

Many freelancers are facing the same problem.

In the initial stage, I was not getting responses as well.

But now I’ve increased my response rate.

In this post, I’m going to share how to write cold emails that convert.

Before that let’s find out what is cold emailing.

Let’s jump right in.

What is cold emailing?

Cold emailing is a process of sending emails to someone who you have no prior relationship with, typically with the purpose of building a relationship, seeking employment, promoting a product or service, etc.

How To Write A Cold Email

Writing a cold email is easy.

But writing a cold email that converts into your clients is hard. Especially when you are a beginner and don’t have experience doing it.

Below, I’m going to share some actionable strategies to write a cold email that converts.

Know your prospects

First, you need to research your prospects.

You need to find out who they are, what are their pain points, etc.

Keep in mind that you are reaching out to a stranger. So you should collect some information about them and their business.

For that, you can check their website and social media handles.

Read more: Freelancing for Beginners – The Ultimate Guide to Freelancing

Write an Eye-Catching Subject Line

What is the first thing your prospects will notice?

Yeah, you guessed it right, it’s the subject line.

You need to write an attractive subject line that catches your prospect’s attention instantly.

They should feel there is something valuable for them. Excite them to open your email. But don’t use clickbait subject lines.

Using your prospect’s first name is a good practice.

For example,

Hi John,

You deserve more attention on Instagram.

You need to test different kinds of subject lines. In the beginning, you don’t know what works or what doesn’t work.

Use Compliment

Compliment their work. Because everyone loves to hear something good about themselves.

For example, if you liked their blog post, website design, newsletter, etc.

Be genuine with the compliment.

Don’t try to fake it.

If you are saying someone that you have read their post, you must read the post blog post.

Specify something that you read in the blog post.

If you do this they will understand that you have read the whole post carefully.

And they might respond to your cold email.

Read more: How To Start A Money-Making Blog

Personalize Each Email

Personalization is the key to winning in cold emails. That’s the reason I have mentioned you need to research prospects.

You should always call them by their first name. For example, if you are writing an email to a content marketer named John.

Start with something like this, “Hey John”.

You should never use Dear Sir/Mam or Respected Sir.

It looks very unprofessional. Your prospects might never take this kind of email seriously. As a result, you will get no response from them.

Add Value

You need to add value to your mail. Because your prospects might get dozens of emails every day.

There is a huge chance that your email will get lost if you use the same emails as others.

You need to write a unique email and make it valuable to them. Mention how you can help them to grow their business, sales, revenue, subscribers, followers, and so on.

If you can clarify how you can help them, the chances are they will reply to your cold email.

You can share your previous works and testimonials from clients to build trust and credibility.

Don’t try to sell in the first email. Try to add value.

Find The Right Person

Sending an email to the right person is an important factor. It doesn’t matter how valuable your email is, you will not get a response if you send it to the wrong person.

If you are a freelance writer, you need to send to email to the content marketer. If you send it to the web designer they might ignore your mail.

To find the right person you can use tools like RocketReach or Hunter.io.

Keep It Short

No one likes to read long and boring emails. Your prospects might receive a lot of emails every day. They don’t read all the emails.

The best practice is to write short emails.

Get straight to the point and avoid lengthy explanations. Explain what you can offer and how it will benefit the prospect. That’s it.

Use simple language to write the email. Don’t overcomplicate it.

Follow Up

If you don’t hear back from the prospect after sending the first email, send a follow-up email to remind the prospect about your service.

You need to follow up with your prospects.

They might forget to reply to the first email or they might haven’t opened the mail.

Both in the above scenario, you need to follow up.

After sending the first email, you should follow up within 2-3 days.

If you are using cold email outreach tools like Woodpecker or Mailshake, you can automate your follow-up emails.

Following up increases the email open rate drastically. Try it yourself and see the difference.

Mailshake shared a super detailed post on following up.

Write A CTA

CTA stands for Call-To-Action.

In the cold email, you need to add a CTA. You can invite the prospect to schedule a call to discuss this further.

Here are some examples of CTA:

Looking forward to hearing from you.Let me know what you think.Would you be the ideal person to discuss this subject? If not, who do you suggest I should contact?Let’s schedule a call next week to discuss how I can help you with your project.Let me know if you are interested!

You can write your own CTA as well.

Final Thoughts: How To Write Cold Emails That Get Clients

Cold emails are one of the best ways to get clients as a freelancer. Additionally, it is one of the best ways to get customers for your business.

By following these cold emailing tips, You can increase your chances of getting a response from potential clients.

Your first few emails might not be that good.

But it’s okay. You will be good at cold emailing overtime. You need to start.

Don’t think that you will get a response after sending a few emails. You might need to write hundreds of emails to get your first clients.

I’ll recommend you research your prospects and then send an email. You need to know if you are sending the email to the right kind of prospects or not.

One email can change your life.

What Exactly Is a Digital Nomad?

Here’s an easy-to-understand definition of a Digital Nomad:

Digital nomads are people who are location independent and travel the world full time while working remotely to earn a living.

They often work in coworking spaces, coffee shops, hotel rooms, or public libraries, relying on devices such as laptops, and smartphones with internet access.

Actually, anybody who can do their job with a laptop, a smartphone, and an internet connection can become a digital nomad.

Let’s dive right in.

How Do You Become a Digital Nomad?

The way of becoming a digital nomad isn’t the same for everyone. Everyone has different passions, skills, and professions.

So, there isn’t one specific blueprint for everyone to follow.

But there are some steps you can follow to become a digital nomad if you are just passionate about becoming a digital nomad.

You need some high-paying skills, a remote job or an online business, a little bit of confidence, and a destination with a reliable internet connection.

Let’s break down the steps of becoming a digital nomad.

How Digital Nomads Make Money While Traveling The World?

There are many ways you can make money while traveling the world as a digital nomad.

You can make money doing freelance jobs and remote jobs for companies.

Also, you can build a passive income generating business to make money while traveling or even sleeping too!

Here are three types of jobs and businesses digital nomads do while traveling the world.

1. Start Your Own Business

You can start a blog, podcast, or YouTube channel to document your nomadic life and share your experience.

The best part is,

By doing these, you can build a passive income-generating business that makes money while you travel.

2. Freelancing

Freelancing isn’t a passive income-generating business, but it’s one of the best ways to make instant active income as a digital nomad.

In freelancing, you have to sell your services to earn money. If you have a high-paying skill, you can make massive money by doing freelance jobs.

For example,

If you are a graphic designer, you can sell your graphic design services. You can design logos, banners, flyers, illustrations, etc.

The best place to sell your graphic design service is 99Designs. It’s the only design-specific freelance marketplace available on the market.

3. Get a Remote Job

The difference between remote jobs and freelance jobs is remote jobs mean you’re a full-time or part-time employee at an organization or a company, while freelance jobs end once the project is over. In both cases, your presence isn’t required at the office.

Remote jobs are better than freelance jobs because sometimes it’s hard to get clients as a freelancer and remote jobs make your digital nomad life more secure.

If you have the required skills and degrees, you can quickly get a remote job and work from anywhere.

You can be a web developer, app developer, growth hacker, marketing specialist, graphic designer, software engineer, and the list goes on.

Some well-known companies offer flexible remote jobs for digital nomads. Some of them are:

Top 29 Affiliate Programs You Must Join to Monetize Your Audience in 2023

Affiliate marketing is a huge opportunity to make passive income from your blog. And It can drive more revenue than Adsense ads.

So, if you have a loyal target audience, you should use affiliate marketing to convert your blog into a money-making blog.

The best part is,

Affiliate links don’t affect your site design and don’t distract your visitors.

In fact:

Relevant affiliate links helps your visitors choose the right product and add value to your target audience.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Here’s the perfect definition of affiliate marketing by Pat Flynn:

“Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.”

To make money from Affiliate marketing, all you need is a loyal and a target audience.

You can build your target audience using a blog, a podcast, a YouTube channel, or other social media platforms. Also, you should focus on building an email list.

Once you have some loyal audience, you can use these platforms and your email list to promote affiliate products.

To earn more passive income from affiliate marketing, always promote products that are valuable and helpful to your audience.
