Read. Write. Read. Write. Rinse. Repeat.
Advice from Editorial Anonymous, in response to a reader question:
There are different definitions of what makes a writer "great", and the ways
that different writers go about being their version of great varies a great
deal, too. So unfortunately there is no simple formula for greatness. But I do
strongly recommend reading every day and writing every day, faithfully and
persistently, and wanting to live the rest of your life that way. Greatness is
not achieved through a passing interest or...

I'm really digging Morgan for some reason! I LOVE him. Of
course last book he and Merit were arguing more, but hopefully they'll patch
things up soon.

Ethan? Morgan? Catcher? It's Time For A Debate!
After a fervent Tweet war over the best Chicagoland Vampire (or sorcerer), readers Tasha, Colette and Mandi have agreed to offer up a point/counterpoint/counterpoint on three CV favorites: Ethan, Morgan and Catcher. Ladies, take it away!
> TEAM ETHAN (Colette of A Buckeye Girl Reads)
I'm totally in love with Ethan. He's hot, sexy and mysterious. All three of the major ingredients needed for a ideal hero. He's older, wiser, and can take anything that Merit throws at him. He's not afraid to...

Who Knew?
According to sci fi news source i09 (a daily read for me), lots of sci-fi authors, including Marjorie Liu and Meljean Brook, got their start writing racy (!) fan-fiction.
As some of you may know, the first fiction I wrote (in 2005ish), was fan fiction for a certain Dark Huntery series set in NOLA. :)
How about you? Any fan fic writers out there?
[ And don't forget about tonight's chat at 8:00 p.m. CST. Details below! ]

Write Your @ss Off Weekend - Recap
My goal was 4,000 words for the weekend, but I didn't quite make it.
I did manage 3,000 words and a lot of other Chloe Neill stuff (Tweeting, blogging, marketing, etc.), so I'm calling it a victory.
Scott S. commented on Friday that he, too, was going to try a WY@O weekend. So, let's check in -- Scott - how did you do?

My Upcoming/Recent Release Auto-Buy List
I get asked quite a bit what urban fantasy and paranormal romance books I enjoy. Although I don't have tons of time to read right now (especially when I'm procrastinating by writing blog entries on my favorite books, lol), there are a few upcoming/recent releases I'm VERY excited about. Thusly:
1. Lover Mine by J.R. Ward (April 27, 2010): Very excited to read John's book. If you haven't read the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, what are you waiting for??
2. Blood Cross by Faith Hunter (Jan. 5...
