"It is a universally acknowledged truth...

...that a writer who's all but stopped blogging is on a serious deadline." ~ Chloe Neill (with apologies to Jane Austen)

Merit: *stealing a chip from Mallory* Anyone seen Chloe lately?

Mallory: The goddess herself? Not lately. *bumps Catcher* You seen her?

Catcher: Not lately. Maybe she's hanging out in Navarre House.

Ethan: *rolling eyes* Why would anyone with good sense spend time in Navarre House when they could spend time in Cadogan House?

Mallory: Well, Morgan's pretty hot. *getting s...

This Just In.

Apple recently announced that presale for the WiFi iPad will begin March 12, 2010, with an April 3, 2010 release date.

Nathan Bransford offered up a sweet video from Penguin UK about its iPad offerings, including--for you fans out there--a chunk from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series. Very nice!

(And you still have time to get in your questions. See below!)

30,000 Goal Met & Sacramento Book Review

Thanks to all of you for the supportive e-mails over the weekend. I met my "marathon" writing goal (30,000 words), and now I'm nudging right up against the halfway mark for completion of HEXBOUND. (FYI, the average mass market YA novel is about 70,000 words.)
And a reminder that hard work does have its payoffs -- a huge thanks to Thea James at the Sacramento Book Review for her lovely review of FIRESPELL, which she called an "excellent YA read." Here's the text from her Amazon review:

Getting. Tired.

I think HEXBOUND is finally starting to get some writing momentum. I'm at 28,532, only 1,500 away from my weekend word count goal of 30,000.
Gotta tell you, I'll be glad when I'm done.

Today's Planned Procrastination

I've moved up from Friday morning's word count (22,200) for HEXBOUND to 26,635, which is much nearer my final bedtime word goal (30,000), hopefully to be completed in time to indulge in my favorite (of many near-favorite) Adult Swim pleasures: Venture Bros.

Today's planned procrastination: blueberry bread (from a mix; already done); bite-sized sour cream pound cake cupcakes with chocolate ganache (from my own recipe); and mini-veggie frittatas.
Yum! What are y'all up to this weekend?
