Who needs their own Cadogan medal? YOU do!

Calling all Chicagoland Vampires & Dark Elite fans in the Milwaukee and Chicago Areas!!

On Friday, I'll board a plane to Milwaukee for signings in one of my favorite American bookstores--the Barnes & Noble in Racine, WI--and a new favorite--the Barnes & Noble in Greenfield, WI--for a full Saturday of booksignings!

I'll be reading from FIRESPELL, discussing publishing, and signing copies of FIRESPELL and FRIDAY NIGHT BITES (and anything else you happen to bring in!)

And, more importantly, everyo...

Goings On

Hello, everyone! I'm just getting started on the second round of edits for Twice Bitten. So that I can work to become a TPA and make these edits impeccable and punctual, it may be slim pickins (sp?) on postings around here for the next few days.
In the meantime, have you checked out my recent Q&A's at Lauren's Crammed Bookshelf? Happy reading!

Characters tweeting?

I've been toying with the idea of letting Merit send out her own Tweets to the world. Any thoughts? Would you follow a character's Tweets?

Haiti Assistance - American Red Cross Donations

There's no doubt--times are economically tough. But the American Red Cross has set up a text message donation system, allowing you to donate $10 to their Haiti relief fund through your next phone bill. If you're interested in making a donation--or in learning about other ways that you can help out--please visit the American Red Cross web site.
If you have other Haiti assistance links or information to share, feel free to leave a comment!

Using Clipboards

There's a fun post on Desire to Inspire today collecting Flickr images of offices that use clipboards for organizing. If you're a writer (or a decorator, or scrapbooker, etc.), clipboards can be a great way to collect pictures, notes and clippings for a project.

You can find graphic clipboards at Target, or pressboard or aluminum models at your local office supply or superstore.

Reading About Writing

Part of my daily "Internet Routine" (in addition to checking out various cooking and design sites), is checking out a handful of publishing blogs that I really enjoy. I only found them a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd post them in case they're new to you:
1. Editorial Ass: Moonrat is a "recovering editorial assistant," and in addition to monthly bookclubs and read-alongs, posts publishing Q&As and other goodies.
2. Nathan Bransford: I've been a Tweet follower of Nathan's for a while, but he h...

Happy Birthday to Baxter

In light of our ridiculously frigid weather, I'm debating his present--trip to Petsmart sans little brother? huge stuffed animal so that he can rip out the stuffing? paper gift bag containing one tiny bone amidst tons of tissue paper so that he can shred it to his heart's content?--but I'll post a picture or two if anything interesting pops up.

Either way, happy second birthday, Baxter!

Happy Release Day!

The counter has gone to zero, and FIRESPELL is now in stores! I hope you all have a chance to pick up a copy (or 12 or 16), and that you enjoy reading Lily's adventure as much as I enjoyed writing it.

In addition to the various and sundry contests that kicked off yesterday (see post below), I'm over at Teens Read Too Book Club today with an interview! And, as part of her week-long feature, I'm being interviewed over at LiyanaLand!

Enjoy, good luck with the contests, and happy release day!

Pre-Release Baking

In celebration of tomorrow's release -- FIRESPELL-themed cookies! (The symbols will make sense post-read.)

I am a bit of a sloppy icer; I just don't have the patience to make the designs perfect. But they were fun to put together!
(And FYI, they're basic sugar cookies with powdered sugar/water icing.)
