Allison Gollust was fired for helping Andrew Cuomo select his own questions at CNN

Tuesday, CNN released a statement saying Allison Gollust had resigned from her job as executive VP or marketing. At the time, all CNN said was that an investigation had determined that Gollust, Jeff Zucker and Chris Cuomo had all violated company policy. Today, the NY Times published a story outlining exactly what got Gollust in trouble. It’s pretty amazing that anyone involved thought this was okay.On a Saturday in March 2020, as Covid-19 was invading the United States, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo went on CNN for a live interview. Among other topics, he was asked about a possible government-enforced quarantine of New York that had been floated by President Donald J. Trump…
Before the interview, Governor Cuomo had told a senior CNN executive, Allison Gollust, about subjects that he’d like to be asked about on air, according to several people familiar with the matter. Ms. Gollust, CNN’s longtime chief of communications and marketing and a former top aide of the governor, passed along the topics to CNN producers and then reported back to the governor.
“Done,” she wrote…

Los Angeles DA George Gascon backtracks on progressive reforms in late Friday news dump

It looks like Los Angeles DA George Gascon heard about the results of the San Francisco school board recall. Gascon who has been under pressure since day one of his term suddenly had a change of heart this week which was announced late Friday in the hours usually reserved for embarrassing news dumps.
FRIDAY NEWS DUMP: L.A. D.A. George Gascon is backtracking on his policies barring juveniles from being tried as adults and banning the use of life sentences against defendants, according to memos bouncing around the office this evening. Story coming ASAP.
— James Queally (@JamesQueallyLAT) February 19, 2022

And here’s the promised story from the LA Times:
When he first took office in late 2020, Gascón made waves by immediately banning prosecutors from seeking the death penalty or life sentences without the possibility of parole, while also severely limiting the way prosecutors could use sentencing enhancements and ending the practice of trying juveniles as adults.
Although the moves were in line with the broader platform of restorative justice Gascón ran on, critics have decried the so-called blanket policies and demanded he consider trying juveniles as adults or seeking life sentences when defendants are accused of especially heinous conduct.
That moment came late Friday. Committees will be created to evaluate “extraordinary” …

Tucker Carlson mocks AOC on-air, she responds by suggesting there’s ‘sexual harassment’ in his office

On Friday, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson took to the airways to lampoon the upcoming book “Take Up Space: The Precedented AOC” written by New York Magazine’s editing team. Tucker said, “Now, a hagiography of Sandy Cortez is like a box of Fig Newtons. You know it’s wrong to open it, but the temptation is strong, and so we did. And before we knew it, we consumed the whole thing. We still feel sick. So that is what we’re opening with tonight, the new Sandy Cortez book. “Yes, it’s a lighter topic than tyranny in Canada or war in Ukraine,” Tucker continued, “We’ve got limited self-control of stuff like this. It’s an amazing book … It opens by comparing Ocasio-Cortez to Jesus and then it suggests that because she once got second place in a high school science competition, she could have gone on to win the Nobel Prize. It is a rema …

Mayor Eric Adams vows to clean up the NYC subway system by removing homeless people

Eric Adams, the recently elected mayor of New York City, is aggressively working to remove homeless people from abusing the city’s public transit systems. The Associated Press reported that Mayor Adams wants to keep New York City’s homeless population from sleeping in the city’s expansive subway system and prevent them from riding “the same lines all night.”Adams’ plans to remove more than 1,000 homeless people who have been using New York’s rail system for shelter. On Friday, the mayor who previously referred to homelessness as a “cancerous sore” said that the city will begin to deploy more police and mental health workers throughout the city’s transit network. The New York Times reported that Adams said, “No more just doing whatever you want. Those days are over. Swipe your MetroCard, ride the system, get off at your destination. That’s what this administration is saying.”“People tell me about their fear of using the system,” Adams continued, “And we’re going to ensure that fear is not New York’s reality.”Many of the homeless who use New York City’s subwa …

NATO allies are reportedly concerned by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to depart his country this weekend and go to Germany as the threat of Russian invasion looms over the country.“Allies of the 30-member alliance are reportedly worried that Russia could exploit the president’s absence as tension in Eastern Europe has reached a boiling point not seen in decades,” Fox News reported. “Zelenskyy, who is set to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday, is expected to be a key target if Russia does successfully invade Kyiv.”The report comes as a massive explosion rocked a gas pipeline in Ukraine late on Friday, according to Reuters. This is bad. EXPLAINER: Why Half of Guantanamo’s Prisoners Could Get Out

The Biden administration has been quietly laying the groundwork to release prisoners from the Guantanamo Bay detention center and at least move closer to being able to shut it down. A review board that includes military and intelligence officials has now determined more than half of the 39 men held indefinitely without charge at the U.S. base in Cuba can now be safely released to their homelands or sent to another country. Decisions about several of these prisoners, including some denied under previous reviews, have come in recent weeks as the administration faced criticism from human rights groups for not doing more to close Guantanamo, releasing only a single prisoner over the past year.

A look at where things stand:

IS THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ABOUT TO EMPTY GUANTANAMO?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez flies first class from Texas

It’s a class act.

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ditched the commoners in coach and cozied up to elites in first class on an American Airlines flight, avoiding the left wing altogether for a spacious seat closer to the cockpit after a weekend of stumping for comrades in the Lone Star state, an eyewitness told The Post.

The congresswoman was identified by a stunned tipster who flew aboard flight AA1405 on a Boeing 737–800 from Austin to John F. Kennedy International Airport last Sunday and managed to snap a photo of AOC from her seat two rows down.

“I don’t sense anyone in first class knew she was there or someone of her celebrity was there,” said the tipster. “She was also pretty incognito,” wearing a large mask which covered half her face.

A one-way first-class flight on American …

Pentagon IG report says 50 Afghan evacuees brought to US had ‘potentially significant security concerns’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
A Pentagon inspector general report released this week found that officials identified at least 50 Afghan evacuees who were brought to the United States in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan whose information indicated “potentially significant security concerns” –and were unable to locate dozens of those who it said had “derogatory information” that would make them ineligible for parole. The report, released on Thursday, found that U.S. agencies “did not use all available data when vetting Afghan evacuees.” The National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) later expanded its review to fill the gaps in screening, the report said.PENTAGON: ‘NO QUESTION’ AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL MAKES IDENTIFYING TERROR THREATS MORE DIFFICULT“As of November 2, 2021, NGIC personnel had identified 50 Afghan personnel in the United States with information in DoD records that would indicate potentially significant security concerns,” the report states.According to a footnote assigned to that section of the report, “significant security concerns include individuals whose latent fingerprints have been found on improvised explosive devices and known or suspected terrorists and for which the NGIC sends derogatory information notifications to appropriate DoD personnel.“The …
