China’s J‑20 Stealth Fighter: A Threat?

J‑20 Mighty Dragon Stealth Fighter Challenging American Air Assets – Is the J‑20 Mighty Dragon fighter building toward Chinese air superiority?
The United States is used to being the king of the skies in the last 20 years of conflict in the Middle East and South Asia. No insurgents or terrorists could threaten the Americans in the air. But now there is China to worry about.
And the People’s Liberation Army Air Force has upped the ante in East Asia. Flashpoints like Taiwan and the militarization of various rocks and reefs in the South and East China Seas have resulted in the PLAAF modernizing and adding to its fleet of aircraft. This effort could enable the Chinese to surpass the United States if they haven’t already.
Enter the J‑20 Mighty Dragon
To this end, the PLAAF is stoked about the Chengdu J‑20 Mighty Dragon that has stealth characteristi …

Romney: ‘The 80’s called and we didn’t answer’

Utah Republican Senator Mitt Romney issued a statement in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Wednesday and said that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “…Ukraine invasion is the first time in 80 years that a great power has moved to conquer a sovereign nation. It is without justification, without provocation and without honor.“pic.twitter.com/1sVNk4RiJa— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) February 24, 2022
“Putin’s impunity predictably follows our tepid response to his previous horrors in Georgia and Crimea, our naive efforts at a one-sided ‘reset,’ and the shortsightedness of ‘America First.’ ”Romney continued, “The ’80s called’ and we didn’t answer,” referencing Barack Obama’s line during a 2012 presidential debate with the Senator during which Obama mocked Romney for suggesting that Russia was America’s number one geo-political foe.“The peril of again looking away from Putin’s tyranny falls not just on the people of the nations he has violated, it falls on America as well. History shows that a tyrant’s appetite for conquest is never satiated.”“America and our allies must answer the call to protect freedom by subjecting Putin and Russia to the harshest economic penalties, by expelling them from global institutions, and by committing ourselves to the expansion and modernization of our national defense.“In 2012, as the Republican presidential candidate Romney slammed Obama for telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev he’d have more “flexibility” toward the countr …

Google Labels Op-Ed on Inflation ‘Dangerous’

Another day, another example of Big Tech’s liberal bias and/or outright incompetence.
In a surprising yet comical twist this morning, I received an email from Google alerting me advertisements have been suspended on one of my BASEDPolitics articles: “Here’s the Real Reason Inflation Keeps Surging.”
Why has Google blocked ads on my piece? The tech giant has supposedly decided that it constitutes “dangerous or derogatory content.” Yes, seriously.

The article in question simply reports the news of surging inflation metrics and debunks the Democrats’ silly and economically illiterate arguments that “corporate greed” is driving the price increases. Then, it criticizes Biden’s blowout spending policies and the Federal Reserve’s rampant money-printing as the real culprits behind the harmful ongoing inflation uptick.
What part of this is “dangerous” or “derogatory,” exactly?
This could be a mistake. But Google has a long and alarming history of blacklisting conservative websites from its search results. And its subsidiary platform, YouTube, commonly demonetizes, restricts, or outright bans right-leaning users. It’s clearly a biased institution, even if subconsciously.
More than 90 percent of political donations from Google employees go to Democrats. The company is an echo chamber where left-leaning ideas run unchecked and the few right-leaning employees are sometimes afraid to speak out.
There’s almost certainly not some nefarious plot by top Google executives to throttle and ban conservatives en masse. But when you have people who all see the world in a certain way running such an influential platform and making so many subjective decisions, bias is all-but-certain to ensue.
It’s also possible there’s something more sinister at play here. From search to advertisements to YouTube, Google is responsible for a massive amount of information the public receives. It has a civic duty to do much better—and not project its own political biases onto the information we all see every day.

Officers Investigated Over Convoy Donations

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced on Wednesday that it has started an internal investigation over allegations that some OPP officers may have donated to the fundraiser for the anti-Wuhan coronavirus restriction Freedom Convoy protests.
The officers were allegedly identified as part of a leak of hacked fundraiser data from the crowdfunding website GiveSendGo by the left-leaning Toronto Star newspaper published this week.
OPP spokesperson Bill Dickson stated that the OPP was aware of the allegations and told broadcaster CBC that officers “appear to have made donations that have gone toward the unlawful protest in Ottawa.”
“The matter has been brought to the attention of OPP Command, and the OPP Professional Standards Unit has launched an internal conduct investigation into this matter,” Dickson told the CBC in an email.

Durham Sent Major Message to the Attorney General and the Country

For almost a year and a half, John Durham has been a special prosecutor – not too long, but long enough for people to begin to say he isn’t making much progress against his orders to look into the origins of the debunked Trump-Russia narrative that enveloped a presidency.

Donald Trump’s supporters fear that elites higher up in the organization will get away with shady behavior because most of his indictments have been against peripheral players…CONTINUE READING»>

Ukraine declares state of emergency, tells citizens to get out of Russia

Ukraine has declared a state of emergency and began Wednesday to mobilize reservists in anticipation of war with Russia. Some special restrictions announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be put in place to keep the country calm and protect its economy as the Russian threat grows  and as Ukrainian citizens have been told to leave Russia immediately.
The declaration follows Russian President Vladimir Putin taking first steps in what appears to be a plan to invade Ukraine.
The Russian leader earlier this week recognized parts of eastern Ukraine as pro-Russian, separatist regions and began moving troops there – in a show of force and in opposition to what he considers Western encroachment in Ukraine and other former Soviet bloc countries.
The emergency powers enacted Wednesday, which allow more local authorities to dictate re …

Lawmakers urge Biden to ask Congress before sending military to Ukraine

(The Hill) — A group of lawmakers sent a letter to President Joe Biden on Tuesday amid escalating tensions in Ukraine to remind him that he must seek authorization from Congress before sending in troops or launching military attacks.

The bipartisan group of 43 lawmakers acknowledged that Biden previously said he would not send troops into Ukraine but noted the decision could change.

“If the ongoing situation compels you to introduce the brave men and women of our military into Ukraine, their lives would inherently be put at risk of Russia chooses to invade,” the letter reads. “Therefore, we ask that your decisions comport with the Constitution and our nation’s laws by consulting with Congress to receive authorization before any such development.”

The letter was signed by Reps. Nancy Mace (R‑S.C.), Pramila Jayapal (D‑Wash.), Ilhan Omar (D‑Minn.), Matt Gaetz (R‑Fla.) and Warren Davidson (R‑Ohio), among others.

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D‑Ore.) shared the letter on Twitter, writing that …

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Biden has not made a decision on whom to nominate. But the president has interviewed judges Ketanji Brown Jackson, J. Psaki: ‘Biden has rallied world’ vs Putin

During Tuesday’s White House press conference, Peter Doocy of Fox News grilled White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on whether the sanctions announced earlier that day by President Biden would be enough of a deterrence stop Putin’s aims in Ukraine.“Why do you guys think that sanctions are going to stop Putin if his goal, ultimately, is to redraw the map so it looks like it did seventy or eighty years ago? What sanction is going to stop him from doing that?” Doocy asked.Psaki’s response:“I think just to kind of reiterate maybe something you touched on there, for anyone who watched his speech last night, what he made clear in that speech is that he doesn’t even necessarily — or doesn’t recognize the independence of Ukraine as a country. That certainly gives us an indication of where his intentions are at this point in time.”“Sanctions can be a powerful tool. They have been in a lot of moments throughout history,” she c …
