NASCAR Fans Tell reporter ‘FJB’

At least one fan told a Fox reporter that he was writing “F*ck Joe Biden” on the finish line as the Daytona 500 came to a close on Sunday.
After the race, fans were invited to come down onto the track and sign their names and write messages on the wide finish line. But when Fox 35 Orlando’s sideline reporter began asking fans what they intended to write, things went a bit farther than he expected.
“What are you going to sign on that finish line?” the reporter asked, mic in hand.
The fan the reporter singled out turned and happily replied, “What do you think I’m going to sign? I’m going to sign ‘F*** Joe Biden’!”
The reporter quickly turned away, telling his audience, “That’s the risk we have here when we broadcast live.”

Ted Turner Hates ‘What Zucker Did with CNN’

CNN founder Ted Turner despises “what Jeff Zucker did with CNN,” according to his biographer and longtime friend, Porter Bibb.
Bibb, who has been a close friend of Turner’s for almost fifty years and wrote the billionaire’s biography nearly 30 years ago, says the larger-than-life Turner is in bad shape now. The 83-year-old businessman and philanthropist is in declining health due to Lewy Body Syndrome, the same incurable brain disease Robin Williams suffered from before he committed suicide.
In a lengthy interview with the Ankler, Bibb discloses that he stays in close touch with Turner and the two of them have discussed the fall of CNN:
[ANKLER] What does Turner think about CNN now?
[BIBB]: I have not spoken to him [recently], because candidly he cannot really carry on a conversation. His brain is starting to go. But he’s been adamantly [against] what Zucker did with CNN, turning it into an opinion network, to compete with Fox and losing the concept of hard news 24/7 was wrong.

Behar: No Presidents’ Day for ‘Losers Like Trump’

Joy Behar told her co-hosts Monday on ABC’s “The View” that Presidents’ Day should not honor “losers” like former presidents Donald Trump and Richard Nixon.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, “Today is Presidents’ Day, but not everybody is on board with it. There’s an op-ed calling to take it off the calendar, claiming that most people aren’t even sure what they’re celebrating. It used to honor Presidents Washington and Lincoln, but it expanded to all presidents depending on what state you’re in.”

Biden admin to delay oil leasing

The Biden administration will suspend or delay new federal oil and gas leasing following a court ruling against the process by which it calculates the social cost of climate change, the administration announced Saturday night.On Feb. 11, Judge James Cain of the Western District of Louisiana, a Trump appointee, blocked the administration’s method of calculating the social costs associated with greenhouse gases, the primary driver of climate change. The Biden administration had returned to Obama-era calculation methods, with plans to develop its own in the future.In his ruling, Cain blocked federal agencies from considering findings from the White House Interagency Working Group, which had been tasked with devising new metrics based on the Obama-era calculations. Edu Dept erases $415M in student debt

What is the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program? The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program began in 2007 as a reward for college students who go into public service but has been criticized for its complex requirements in the past. The Department of Education announced this week it will cancel $415 million in federal student loans by nearly 16,000 borrowers allegedly misled by for-profit colleges. The borrowers, who attended DeVry University, ITT Technical Institute, Westwood College and the Minnesota School of Business/Globe University, will receive the relief through a legal provision known as borrower defense, which allows individuals to discharge some or all of their student loan debt if their school misled them or otherwise engaged in other misconduct.  “The department remains committed to giving borrowers discharges when the evidence shows their college violated the law and standards,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a statement Wednesday. The department found that between 2008 and 2015, DeVry University, a for-profit university headquartered in Illinois, repeatedly misled students by claiming that 90% of it …

Abby Broyles was invited over to a friend’s house to share a drink at while the friend’s daughter enjoyed a slumber party with seven other middle school girls.

She allegedly became drunk over the course of the evening and threw up in a laundry basket and a girl’s shoe and launched a profanity-laced tirade at several of the children.

Larry Fink as Wall St. Dr. Evil?

Strolling along Sixth Avenue the other day, I noticed something unsettling. No, not some homeless guy using a sidewalk as a bathroom. That’s one of the many nasty things I’ve become inured to amid our city’s precipitous decline. 

Rather, it was a vehicle billboard portraying a sinister-looking corporate executive dressed in a dark suit with a menacing look in his eye. It made me wonder whether this dude was about to assign a hit squad to come to my house. In the background of the exec’s likeness flashed an ominous question: “Who is Larry Fink?”

Unlike probably most New Yorkers, and definitely most Americans, I actually know who Larry Fink is: A longtime Wall Street veteran and now the CEO of the world’s largest money manager, BlackRock, an outfit he built from scratch by being a great investor and risk manager.

Stakeholder capitalism

Larry does wear suits, even dark ones on occasion; he also has a penchant for cardigans. When he strolls around BlackRock’s offices, his appearance often is closer to Mister Rogers than Doctor Evil.

He’s known for pushing for something called stakeholder capitalism (which I’ve criticized) — a squishy concept in which corporations look to better the human race as opposed to churning out profits for shareholders. And his embrace of some woke policies through the investment fad known as ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards.

Chuck Todd Asks Why Putin Didn’t Escalate During the Trump Admin

NBC’s Chuck Todd on Sunday asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken why Vladimir Putin didn’t escalate tensions with Ukraine during the Trump Administration.

Blinken had no answer.

“[The] previous one. Why do you think [Putin] didn’t act then?” Chuck Todd asked Blinken on “Meet the Press.”

“I hope you get a chance to ask him,” Blinken said stuttering.
