Biden Says ‘No Direct Plans’ for Saudi Arabia Visit But Leaves Door Open for Future Trip

President Joe Biden said Friday he has “no direct plans” to head to Saudi Arabia though he left open the door for a future trip, as rumors swirl around a possible visit to discuss global oil supply and mend strained Washington–Riyadh relations.Biden made the remarks during a June 3 press conference in Delaware, where he was asked if he’s going to go to Saudi Arabia.
“I’m not sure whether I’m going,” Biden replied. “I have no direct plans at the moment. We’re looking at it.”
He said that “there is a possibility that I would be going to meet with both the Israelis and some Arab countries,” adding that he expects “Saudi Arabia would be included in that if I did go.”
Biden was then asked by a reporter whether he still considers Saudi Arabia to be a “pariah,” which is how he described the Kingdom while on the presidential campaign t …

Louisiana Legislature Passes Bill to Outlaw Mailing of Abortion-Inducing Drugs

A measure to outlaw the mailing of abortion-inducing drugs has passed the Louisiana legislature, heading to Gov. John Bel Edwards for consideration.Edwards is a Democrat who has previously signed pro-life bills into law. If signed, the bill would become law on Aug. 1.
The bill S.B. 388 (pdf) by state Sen. Sharon Hewitt underwent amendments in the House before being approved 31–1 by the state’s Senate on Friday.
The measure makes it a crime for someone to knowingly cause an abortion by “delivering, dispensing, distributing, or providing a pregnant woman with an abortion-inducing drug” if the person is not a doctor licensed under state law to administer the drug to the woman.
It doesn’t penalize the women who seek abortions.
The bill defines an abortion-inducing drug as “any drug or chemical, or any combination of drugs or chemicals, or any other substance when used with the intent to cause an abortion, including but not limited to RU-486, the Mifepre …

Putin is Sweating: Russia Is Blowing Up Bridges in Donbas to Stop Ukraine

Ukraine Pushing Back in Donbas, Retaking Territory in Severodonetsk – The Ukrainian military has been conducting counterattacks in the city of Severodonetsk and once again controls about half of the city. Constant, bloody assaults by Russian forces had resulted in its troops and proxies from the separatist-held areas controlling about 70 percent of the city. But Ukraine has now retaken about 20 percent of that area.Serhiy Haidai, head of the Luhansk region military administration was asked about an intelligence assessment by the British Ministry of Defense that said that Russian military forces would gain total control of the Luhansk Oblast within the next two weeks.
“Two weeks is unrealistic. It’s just unreal,” Haidai said. “Earlier there was a difficult situation, and somewhere around 70 percent [of Severodonetsk] was captured, now we have already moved them back somewhere around 20 percent,” he added.
“They are moving forward step-by-step. They are simply destroying everything with artillery, aircraft, mortars, and tanks. As soon as we have enough Western long-range weapons, we will push their artillery away from …

China keeps rejecting Putin’s requests for economic support

The “no limits” partnership that was announced in February appears to have found a limit.China’s stubbornness may help explain why Putin has been so determined to seize Sievierodonetsk despite the fact that it’s not hugely strategically important. He doesn’t just want a victory to show off to his constituents, he wants a victory to show off to his new banker. Progress on the ground after three months of flailing might unlock Chinese economic support. Xi Jinping wouldn’t want to pour money into a losing effort at the hands of the west, but a winning effort…

Putin shouldn’t get his hopes up, though. The main impediment to Chinese support for Russia isn’t the state of the battlefield, it’s the state of the Chinese economy and the reality of western sanctions.
Moscow has on at least two occasions pressed Beijing to offer new forms of economic support — exchanges that one Chinese official described as “tense.” The officials familiar with the talks spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the matter’s sensitivity…
Russia has not requested “weapons and ammunition” to …

Fetterman’s doctor finally reveals: Yes, he has an underlying heart problem

So the skeptical medical experts were right all along. And Mrs. Fetterman, who told reporters that the only heart condition she knew of was atrial fibrillation, was either lying or misinformed.Heart specialists who were contacted by the media about Fetterman’s condition repeatedly said they couldn’t understand why he’d been fitted with a pacemaker with a defibrillator if his only issue is A‑fib. A‑fib can cause strokes, which is what sent Fetterman to the hospital, but defibrillators are designed to shock the heart’s ventricles into rhythm, not the atria. It was inexplicable for Fetterman to receive that treatment — unless there was a separate heart condition that hadn’t been disclosed to the public.
Under pressure from “very nervous” Democratic leaders in his home state and an increasingly curious media, Fetterman revealed that condition today: Cardiomyopathy, or heart disease that affects the muscle’s ability to pump blood efficiently.
That’s one reason to read the letter issued by his physician. The other is that, uh, it’s the most passive-aggressive medical assessment I’ve ever seen. The doctor might as well have signed it “TOLD YA SO.”

John Fetterman, who has been criticized for not providing more details about his health following his stroke, releases a letter from his doc saying he was first diagnosed in 2017 with an irregular heart rhythm. Iran vows ‘immediate response’ to any Western move against it at IAEA

Article contentDUBAI — Iran vowed on Friday to show an “immediate response” to any move against it by the United States and European countries at the U.N. nuclear watchdog IAEA, Iranian state media reported. “Any political action by the United States and the three European countries in the agency (IAEA) will undoubtedly be met with a proportionate, effective and immediate response from Iran,” Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian was quoted as saying by state media. Amirabdollahian also said the IAEA head’s visit to Israel, Iran’s arch-enemy, was in conflict with the agency’s impartiality, the media reported. The United States, France, Britain and Germany are pushing for the U.N. nuclear watchdog’s Board of Governors to rebuke Iran for failing to answer longstanding questions on uranium traces at undeclared si …
