AOC Takes Credit for Blocking SCOTUS Security Bill

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D‑N.Y.) in a video posted to her Instagram account took credit for blocking a GOP effort to pass a bill to supplement the protections for Supreme Court (SCOTUS) justices and their families.House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R‑Calif.) asked on the House floor for unanimous consent to take the bill from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D‑Calif.) desk, but the measure was blocked, so members could not vote on the legislation.
The move came a day after an armed man, Nicholas John Roske, allegedly attempted to murder Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh.
Now, Ocasio-Cortez has publicly revealed that she blocked McCarthy’s unanimous consent request, saying that it was to force a roll call vote after most Republicans voted against Democrats’ partisan gun control bills.

Biden Admin Orders Additional 500,000 Monkeypox Vaccines

The Biden administration has ordered an additional 500,000 more doses of the Jynneos vaccine for monkeypox, marking a big step up in the government’s response amid rising cases in the United States and around the world.Denmark-based biotech group Bavarian Nordic, the manufacturer of the vaccines, said that the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) has placed the order, to be delivered later this year.
“With the previous order from BARDA for 1.4 million doses of liquid-frozen JYNNEOS, awarded in 2020, this order will bring the total U.S. inventory of the vaccine to nearly 2 million doses,” the company announced on Friday. Many of the 1.9 million doses are being held by the company until the U.S. government requests them.
The 500,000 vaccine doses will be manufactured using bulk materials that are owned by the United States under previous contracts with BARDA, and are currently stored with the company.
“The majority of this bulk, however, will be converted to approximately 13 million freeze-dried doses of JYNNEOS during 2023–2025,” Barvarian Nordic said.

Democrats Scramble to Pretend to Care About Law and Order After Learning How to Read Polls

Two years after George Floyd’s death, liberal cities that became hubs of the “defund the police” movement in the wake of the infamous 2020 killing have done a virtual 180, with many Democrat mayors and mayoral candidates now embracing comparatively pro-police and tough-on-crime policies and rhetoric.This shift at the local level comes as violent crime continues to rise in major cities across the country following 2020’s historic spike in murders and another rise in homicides and shootings last year.
One of the more striking changes occurred in Los Angeles, where the top two vote-getters in Tuesday’s mayoral race — Democratic Rep. Karen Bass and pro-business billionaire Rick Caruso — have both spoken out in support of law enforcement.

Rep. Scalise: Who Is Paying Former ABC News Chief to Produce Jan. 6 Hearings?

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise is wondering aloud exactly who is footing the bill for the Hollywood-like production of Democrats’ Jan. 6 prime-time hearings.On Fox’s The Ingraham Angle, Scalise said, “One important question that we’ve asked the mainstream media to ask Speaker Pelosi [is] who paid this Hollywood producer,” referring to James Goldston, the former president of ABC News, who is producing the hearings.
“It’s against the law to use taxpayer funds to produce a documentary trying to promote their political agenda or go after their political opponents,” he added, hurling some criticism at what House Republicans are arguing is the extremely partisan bent of the hearings.
Scalise pressed the question, saying, “How did he get paid? Because he’s not allowed to get taxpayer money … and if he did it for free, that’s an in-kind contribution, which is also illegal.

Uvalde School Police Chief Says He “Didn’t Know ” He Was in Charge at Shooting Scene

I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again: What was the point of the mass shooting drills organized by the district if they failed to iron out basic details like the chain of command once a shooting started?They didn’t have protective shields at the ready. Their police radios didn’t work well inside the building. The school doors didn’t lock automatically. They didn’t have a master key that could quickly unlock any door in the district.
And now, it seems, even the chief didn’t know who was supposed to be in charge.
What did they do with that $69,000 grant they got from the state a few years ago to “harden” the school?

Top Democrat Senate Negotiator Says Raising Minimum Age for AR-15-Style Rifles Is Now Off the Table

Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, a top Democrat negotiator in the bipartisan Senate effort to pass gun-control legislation after two recent mass shootings, says raising the federal age to 21 to buy AR-15-style semi-automatic rifles is now off the table.Murphy, in whose state 28 people were killed in 2012 in a mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, made the statement Thursday on CNN.  
He said the proposed change was dropped as part of negotiations to get enough Republican senators to vote in favor of other changes. Any such change would need the support of at least 10 Senate Republicans to overcome a 60-vote procedural hurdle in the 100-member chamber.
The compromise, Murphy said, would be adding “additional scrutiny” to 18- to 21-year-olds trying to buy a weapon like the AR-15, though he didn’t specify whether a waiting period would replace raising the age, according to Business Insider.

Howe We Know the Jan 6 Committee Has Nothing

I was lucky enough to have other things to do last night which prohibited me from watching the latest installment in the Democrat obsession with January 6th, and yeah, I’m including Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger in that group now.The January 6th committee held a primetime hearing, garnering complete buy-in for the stunt from all the networks and cable stations except Fox News, and it didn’t take long for the clips to start coming out. What transpired was a political show trial that would make Stalin blush.
Of course, one can have their opinion of January 6th, and that opinion can include it being a terrible event that should be roundly condemned. What happened was profoundly stupid and harmful. It doesn’t matter what a person believes about the 2020 election. Being an idiot isn’t a political strategy and running one’s head into a woodchipper accomplishes nothing, even if it wasn’t a “coup.”

A new Left-of-center poll released this week revealed that Hispanic voters have swung solidly to the political Right amid the disastrous presidency of Joe Biden.The poll from Quinnipiac University asked respondents, “If the election were today, would you want to see the Republican Party or the Democratic Party win control of the United States House of Representatives?”The poll revealed that Republicans lead Democrats by 3 percentage points, 41% to 38%.The results show a staggering swing from the results of the 2018 midterms when “an estimated 69% of Latinos voted for the Democratic candidate and 29% backed the Republican candidate, a more than two-to-one advantage for Democrats, according to National Election Pool exit poll data,” Pew Research reported. “These results largely reflect the party affiliation of Latinos.
