Cover Art Updates

Hey everyone! If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I’ve been working on cleaning up my covers and making them more appropriately sized. I’ve been hinting that I’ll show them soon, and today is the day! Why? Because I have the three year anniversary of my writing coming up and I wanted to do something special. But more about that on Monday…

Right now, I’ll be showing off the new covers of my books! None of them will be drastic changes, as I still like what I’d done. The differences are ...

In first place: Grace from The Salamander Prince! In tie for second place: Emily from Not A Leading Lady and Nolana from Belle Lied! Finally, in third: Joy from The Stepsister’s Lament!

Wow! I’m really happy that so many of you like Grace, Joy, and Nolana. They were some of my first characters, so their ongoing popularity makes me super happy. The same goes for Emily as my newest. I also find it funny tha...

Heroine Poll!

The results are in, folks, and we have our winners! Thank you to everyone who voted. Now, without further ado, the top three book heroes are:

In first place: Reese from The Stepsister’s Lament! In second place: Newcomer Ted from Not A Leading Lady! And, in a tie for third, we have the brother-in-laws: Eric from The Twelve Dancing “Princesses” and Tier from Belle Lied!

I have to be honest, I was semi-surprised at who won. As some of you may know, the first book in this series wasn...

Unlocked Short & Hero Poll!

Congratulations! The final short story for Not A Leading Lady is now available! Just click the link below or head over to the Freebies page.

Following the LeadDownload

Now, inquiring minds want to know!

This poll is inspired by KM Shea’s annual hero and heroine polls, which she uses to gauge her audience’s interest in different characters. As such, I will be blatantly stealing her format. #SorryNotSorry. If this is successful, I will try to do this once a year.

For now, we’ll start w...

Chapter Titles and Tropes

For the slowly growing number of you who come here to read my posts—and the probably fewer people who pay attention to the way I name my chapters—you are probably excited to hear my reasoning behind the latest headings I’ve painstakingly crafted. In good news, they were one of the last things I did. In bad news, they were not a mistake.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I semi got the idea for this story after reading a series of blog posts by author Kate Stradling. They are the adventur...

Training Time

I love books with training montages. I don’t know why; I am horrible at actually exercising. Still, it just makes me happy to read them. Writing them is also fun. But, why should you trust anything that an overweight, inactive woman with an overactive imagination might tell you?

Research!

I’m not joking, I actually do research for this stuff. And, while I’m horrible at consistency, I know how to work out safely. This is for two reasons: friends and resources.

In high sch...

Tropes in Books

I started writing Not A Leading Lady nearly five years ago. I was working as a hostess in a restaurant and bored. Lunch shifts either involved a lot of running around or a lot of standing around. We used menus printed on card stock and would cut up the stained ones for scratch paper. That is where I first worked on this story, on the back of a menu stained with spilled wine, at a podium in a family restaurant. Auspicious beginnings, I know.

This is from her intro. Click on the picture to see ...

Not A Leading Lady is Live!

Emily has always felt like a background character in her own life, but she hoped discovering she had magic would change that. Yeah… not so much. Apparently, having magic and being able to use said magic are two very different things. There’s nothing quite like finding out you’re the mystical equivalent of a battery. Oh, and that people are actively trying to capture you so they can power their armies. So, what’s a girl to do? Pose as a high school student at an academy for spell casters, of ...

Valentine’s Freebies!

Since I’m not doing a sale this year, I decided to write a couple shorts for you guys! Neither of these are connected to anything else I’ve written. They are just fun ideas I had that I had to play with. Anyway, enjoy and happy Valentine’s Day!
