Canon 60D Announced

Canon 60D Announced:

According to Philip Bloom, the 60D is a replacement to the 50D and sits between the T2i and the 7D. It's due out next month ($1,100 body only).

Coolest new feature? This. A camcorder-like flip screen is almost a must for shooting video. (Photo credit: dpreview.com.)

jQuery Retina Display Plugin

jQuery Retina Display Plugin:

Troy Mcilvena:

The jQuery Retina Display plugin will substitute high resolution versions of your images (if they exist) for high resolution displays (such as iPhone 4) only.

This plugins requires no client-side changes, other than the inclusion and initialisation of this plugin. If the 2x image doesn't exist, the standard resolution image is displayed.

The two elements that have made The Big Picture a success over other photoblogs are the supersized photos and the inline placement of those photos, forgoing the traditional paginated view (which usually makes advertisers happier). With the iPad app, you...

Matt Richtel, The New York Times:

Even though people feel entertained, even relaxed, when they multitask while exercising, or pass a moment at the bus stop by catching a quick video clip, they might be taxing their brains, scientists say.

'People think they're refreshing themselves, but they're fatiguing themselves,' said Marc Berman, a University of Michigan neuroscientist.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but for me, creative pausing

Twelve South's Compass iPad Stand: A Review

Twelve South's Compass iPad Stand: A Review:

I needn't write a review of my own. This one covers everything, both the good and the bad — very little of it mind you, but I have the same problem with the foot peg occasionally muting the volume. However, I currently use the Griffin FlexGrip, which usually prevents the volume button from being depressed anyway. (I had to ditch the DODOcase, regrettably. More about that later.)

In short, the Compass is one of the most useful, well-built pieces of h...
