HTML5 Pack for Illustrator CS5

HTML5 Pack for Illustrator CS5:

As you would expect, this free extension adds SVG and canvas capabilities but also adds a few CSS export options. I've not used the extension yet (nor am I one CS5 yet), so I can't say if the markup it generates is any better than the markup Photoshop generates.

Boxee Available for Pre-Order in US and Canada

Boxee Available for Pre-Order in US and Canada:

U.S. customers can pre-order at Amazon, and Canadian customers can pre-order at Best Buy and Future Shop. Available soon in most of Europe.

The big sell, in Boxee's mind, is that it's a open platform. It has yet to hit critical mass. Then again, nor has Apple TV. And frankly, though I own an Apple TV (previous version) and really enjoy it, I think Apple missed an opportunity to really overhaul the living room with its latest Apple TV. So does...

Google Instant Suggestions for Latin Alphabet, Single Digits, and '@'

Google Instant Suggestions for Latin Alphabet, Single Digits, and '@':

James Pearce lists the top suggestions for each letter of the Latin alphabet, single digits, and the '@' character—with this observation:

Note that these are not the same as the results brought up if you simply enter a single letter in to the search box. If you simply search for 'H', you'll be told about Planck's Constant and hydrogen – but if you start to type a search with 'H', Google thinks you're most likely to then...

Canon 60D vs. 7D

Canon 60D vs. 7D:

Dan Carr:

[At:] first glance it might seem like the 60D has made the 7D somewhat obsolete but that really is not the case. A closer look at the specs reveals a camera that more carefully fits into the "advanced amateur" category than previous XXD line cameras because of course the 7D did not exist when the 50D was released.

Biggest differences include the flip-out screen on the 60D, dual processors on the 7D, number of autofocus points on each, and the 60D polycarbonate...

charity: water Live Drill, Day 2

They didn't hit water on Day 1, but they struck a massive aquifer on Day 2.

Love the excitement in this video. Imagine if acquiring clean water was a daily, laborious task for you and me. I imagine we'd feel the same enthusiasm.

Apple to Ease Restrictions on Dev Tools, Publish Review Guidelines

Apple to Ease Restrictions on Dev Tools, Publish Review Guidelines:

Apple HQ:

In particular, we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need.

In addition, for the first time we are publishing the App Store Review Guidelines to help developers understand how we review submitted apps. We hope it will make us...

Google Instant with Bob Dylan

Google Instant with Bob Dylan:

Though I'm not convinced of Google Instant's jarring interaction, this ad featuring the lyrics for Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" typed as search queries is pretty clever.

Ironically, however, there currently are no search suggestions on Google.com for "google instant b…", despite how prolific the video has become in the last 24 hours.

'HTML5 for Web Designers' by Jeremy Keith

'HTML5 for Web Designers' by Jeremy Keith:

Another link I've posted before but worth relinking again, I finished reading Jeremy Keith's micro-opus on HTML5 last night. It is difficult to imagine a more perfect introduction to HTML5, and it is just as difficult to imagine a more appropriate author for the subject. Well done, Jeremy.
