Murshidabad—A Historical Adventure! || Part 1: Introduction
History forms the essence of India with its rich heritage, culture, tradition and so many untold stories. No wonder historical places are so famous in the country with a lot to offer to its visitors. I’m too a history lover and I love to explore the places of historical origin as well as learn the stories that they entail.
So, I planned for a short trip to Murshidabad, just to spend some time away from the chaos of everyday rush and escape into the relics of history. Plus, three days’ holiday...

The Poisonous Tree
Like a wilted leaf
I fell from the tree
of love,
And dropped down hard
on the cracked soil;
But I was still alive,
breathing…
Like a withered flower
I shrivelled up from
heartache,
And my shrunken petals
hit the dusty ground;
But I could still feel the pain.
Mother Earth then took me
in her embrace
and nursed me with care
As if I were her only child;
But an unfortunate child I was,
who fell from the
grace of love;
Yet she didn’t seem to mind:
She sheltered me from
the dark shadows of death,
And hid me from the cla...

Wilted Love
I am that leaf
which wilts
but refues to die;
Withering in pain
I still manage to
Survive!
The dull sands of the
hour glass
scratches the life out
of my heart
with its gentle stroking;
Yet I still stay
Alive!
Time erodes every
green leaf
on my helpless branch,
Yet I hold onto the
dried ones
that refuses to let go.
Every time you kill me
with your loveless
eyes,
I die in silence:
I wilt
in your merciless arms;
Only to come back
driving along the dark
shadowy roads,
Where the light of
Love
can’t find its way.
Ti...

Freedom
I adamantly clung onto you,
To stop myself from breaking
My heart yet again.
I refused to let go of your hand
For I was afraid of heartbreak.
I struggled to keep you in my life
For I didn’t want to start
The journey of love and longings
All over again.
I longed for you to stay
For I didn’t want someone else
To take your place in my heart.
But darling,
I failed to realize that
Holding on to you
And your false hope of love
Was breaking me too.
It was only when you left me
Broken and empty,
That I saw the light s...

Haunted
Every road
leads me
towards you.
Every song
brings me
your memories.
Every poem
reminds me
of you.
Every sound
resonates your voice
within me.
You haunt me
day and night:
in my dreams,
in my reality.
You haunt me
in every vista
of this nature,
of my life.
You haunt me
even at places
you never visited,
you never stayed.
