I wither, dry and die

You gave me
Thousands of signs
To walk away;
You didn’t give me
A single reason
To stay.
Yet I stayed on:
In the hope,
that one day
You might ask me
To stay.
I kept waiting
In the hope
that one day,
You might return.
I kept forgiving
In the hope
that one day,
You might understand.
But you never did:
You never understood,
You never returned,
You never loved,
You never stayed…
You just left me dangling
In the middle of the road.
In the middle of nowhere
I stood asking myself
Whether to move on
Or wait a little longer…

My Only Fault

Perhaps my only fault was
I didn’t hold you tight enough:
I couldn’t force myself
To believe that
I am yours,
Neither could I
Force it upon you that
You are mine.
Instead,
I just stood still,
Watching you from afar:
Wanting you to come to me,
Waiting for you to come to me;
But never could I force myself
To walk towards you.
That was my fault maybe:
