The December Zone (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:37PM
Description: For as long as he could remember Charlie has lived in The December Zone –the outskirts of the world where the nuclear war has left the wotlf completely covered in snow, ice and blood hungry creatures; some animal, some human, some a grotesque mix of both. The lucky people who escaped the explosion, or who bought their way into the safe haven, live in The Summer Zone just 30 miles south and sometimes, Charlie can’t help but wonder what his life might have been like if he had listened to Trevor and left his family behind to live in the safety of the warm and bountiful walls. But those days of access inside of the walls are long gone and no more than a dream. But when Charlie’s sister gets ill and the medicine is in The Summer Zone, Charlie has no choice but to wander down and use the trump card he’s been saving for so many years in order to get inside of the wall. Charlie knows who brought about the nuclear explosion that started the war, and he knows where the culprit, the most hated person in the world, lives. But he has no intention of actually giving the information. After all, how do you live with yourself when you give up your father? No matter what the choices are clear, someone will die. The only question is will it be him, his sister, or his father.

“An apology has three parts—” I begin. “You’re serious?” Blake asks. “Oh my God, you are serious.” “The first: I’m sorry. The second: what you are sorry for. And finally: how you are going to do better next time. So let’s try that again.”
