And also, Dhonielle Clayton. She instantly rocketed herself up there. I'm 20% done with THE BELLES and already learning so much about writing from her prose. She has a spot in my "influenced me" rotation forever.
I'm going to add a fourth, because i was OBSESSED when younger; Jonathan Stroud really influenced me, and sassy voice.

I love to write at work, oddly. I do best when I'm in the productive zone, so work writing works for me because I can shift my 'productive' energy around. I also like writing super late at night, post 11 PM, in my bed!

I can't give away TOO much because it'll spoil the book! But let's just say it has something to do with the theme of the book (and also, the book for 2.5 years was something else, but I wanted something that embodied the cold feel of Kosovo better).

I was OBSESSED with THE OUTSIDERS. I read all of S.E. Hinton's books in like, 2 weeks. Seeing male, real protagonists really helped shape me. I wish THE LOVE INTEREST, MORE HAPPY THAN NOT, & TYLER JOHNSON WAS HERE were around when younger. More books where boys can be real, soft, and 3-D.
