Offensively Outrageous

Of course, it goes without saying that whatever it is that people are deciding to be offended by today is probably not that important in the grand scheme of things. After all, being offended these days is probably the most popular participatory sport in the world, at least in the social media grumbleoshphere.
After all, being offended doesn’t need much special equipment beyond a computer, or phone, and a social media account. It is not as though much training is necessary either. Although, ex...

Politics and Science

Pigeonhat Goatannoyer is credited with developing the first sustainable energy source that actually works, and is environmentally less damaging than the rotating bird slaughterers that once littered our countryside until a stiff breeze knocked them all over.
Of course, for many years, scientists have seen how much energy is wasted on politics. As they became more environmentally aware, they realised the danger that unfettered politics can have on the natural environment as well as the human w...

A World Celebrity Shortage Disaster Averted

Trampoline Spangleknee first came to public attention in the UK when she set up the world’s first celebrity breeding programme. As we all know, there is a constant danger of the world running out of celebrities, mainly because the celebrity lifecycle is so short. For example, in the pop music industry it is entirely possible to be a celebrity for the lifetime of one single, and in the film world for one film. Everyone knows that the celebrities are a vital component of the human ecosystem. We...

All Our Dreams

Too many of those mornings were lost to rain. Jenny stood at the window, looking out each morning as though she was seeing portents in the falling rain. She would turn back to look at me, as I waited for her to come back to bed, as if the world outside were my fault.
But, then, recently she does wear the expression of a woman living with a man who has disappointed her in some way.
I know how she feels.
This was not the life I expected to be living, either. When I was young, of course, I was g...

Under the Sky

When all these notions fall beneath the sky
That covers us, while standing, waiting here
For time to bring a deeper knowing, time
we understand now why this rain still falls.
We stand here looking out towards the stars,
Not understanding distance, how it grows
And changes over time and time again.
This isn’t eternal, always changing too.
Because we think we know about the time,
And how each second passes far too slow
We feel we know about eternity.
Beyond us still and it remains...

Rights for Vegetables Now!

Pindrop Weaselpanties first came to public attention when he began espousing Human Rights for Vegetables. Not only did he believe that all living animals should have the same rights as humans in law, he also argued that it was the right of every plant too to stand for election. As he successfully argued in the European Court of Human Rights, if we can elect MPs, MEPs and other politicians to office then it seems only fair to extend that right to other vegetables too.
‘After all,’ as he said i...

Back When this World was Young

Then there were all the times when I lost my grip on this world. Those times when I let go of it and it slipped out of my grasp. It was not easy getting the world back, reforming the shape of it, making it good once more.
Back then, thousands died when I let the world slip out of my control. In those days, I was a god, but the people still blamed themselves and their own perceived failings for my carelessness.
My whims or my forgetfulness would create storms, tempests, earthquakes and other t...

No Matter How Deep

This is a hand that takes the shape of holding
To take the form of every precious moment
Into itself to keep each instance bright
And each significant one held so close,
Still clutched so tight. Unwilling to release
To watch the moment falling slowly down
Into the river. Flowing time that churns
Beneath this bridge, then lost. All swept
Away, as passing days all roar on by
Below us. Racing down towards that sea
Of ages. Taking every river filled
With flowing days far down a...
