Day 3,411: Blindsided

I was editing a live recording we did for Film School tonight, a movie we watched at my house, and I didn’t realize that I was going to hear Coco barking in the background for one brief section.

It was the last Friday I ever spent with her. And it was so painful to hear those barks, because in retrospect, I knew it was because she was in pain. She was sick in ways we didn’t understand yet. Part of me wishes I’d heard those barks and understood, but I didn’t.

And here’s the thing…Coco had s...

Day 3,410: Bloggo

Man. Today was a bit of an adventure. Not much went to plan, and I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way. Unexpected work popped up. Some logistical stuff changed because of what Liz was up to. In the end, it all worked out. I got my work done, the pups were taken care of, Liz got her stuff done, and Josh and I were able to podcast tonight.

A solid day.

Exhausted. Very ready for sleep. Rest. Need to get my feet back under me for work. Night night.

Day 3,409: Routine

Just thinking about the power of routine tonight.

The dogs crave it. They rely on it to know when to go to sleep, when to eat, or go potty. Their entire day revolves around the routine. And I’m the same way. My routine is the bedrock of my ability to do anything during the day.

Routine got disrupted this week. For many reasons. Today in particular. BUT…tomorrow is a new day. Next week is a new week.

Let’s go.

Day 3,408: Oh

It’s amazing what a full night’s sleep can do for you.

I wasn’t exactly on fire today production-wise, but I did feel much more close to normal.

Sigh. I wish traveling didn’t disrupt me so much. But it does. I just have to accept that and let it be. When I do that, I bounce back much faster than otherwise.

Watched a little Star Trek IV tonight. The one with the whales. It’s so good. SO. GOOD. Feels like christmas. It was one of my very first favorite movies; it and Robin Hood, the Disne...

Day 3,407: Sweet Home

In my own bed.

Glorious.

I had a terrible night’s sleep last night for whatever reason. Keyed up on coming home, I guess, and getting things all wrapped up and finished from the Termite treatment. I couldn’t sleep for the life of me. It’s my shift to take Joy out to pee at 3am, and I slept maybe an hour total between bed time and that pee break. Fell asleep finally after that but, damn. That’s half my night. I think I got about 5 hours of sleep.

It’s not nothing. I was able to do everyt...

Day 3,406: Home…Almost

At Stephen and Thida’s tonight. The D-Land weekend continues, in a way.

Hung out with Joe, Ashika and Madhuri in the morning. Packed up. Ate. Played a bit with Ashi. Then we loaded up the cars and headed out. Drive back up was quick and easy. Whew!

We tented our house this weekend and fumigated for termites. That all came off right as we were getting close to home, so it was perfect timing. But, we also wanted to do a deep clean tomorrow, so we checking everything out, made sure the house ...

Day 3,405: Wiped

It’s late and Ira is wiiiiped. But, we had a wonderful day at the D-Land. We go home tomorrow. Looking forward to getting back to my routine, even if I will miss enjoying Disneyland with Ashi and Joe and Madhuri.

Night night!

Day 3,404: So Fun

It was cold today and it was wet today…but we had a blast at Disneyland anyway. The sun even peeked out for a couple hours in the afternoon. Ashika, all things considered, was a freaking trooper, man. She was great. And she was completely sucked in by the whole experience. Captivated. I think her favorite ride might have been It’s A Small World.

We had a great dinner. I had a Pinot Noir that I *really* enjoyed, and then we hung out at the hotel and put Ashi to bed. Her mom and dad are out at ...

Day 3,403: D-Land!

It’s Ashika’s birthday weekend bash y’all. She’s turning three.

We’re celebrating in style. For real. I’m sleeping tonight in the Disneyland Hotel. We have a suite, which is really just two adjoining rooms, but it saved us a little money that way. I haven’t stayed in the Disneyland Hotel in 22 years. How crazy is that? Spring of 2001, for a high school business club competition. I was 18.

Just as magical all these decades later. I mean…I’ve been to Disneyland literally dozens of times in t...

Day 3,402: Prep!

Lots of prep work today. LOTS of prep work. We’re having work done on the house over the weekend, and there was a tooooon of stuff to do to get ready for it. But…we did it. We got it done.

It’s late, so not a super long one tonight, but the writing is going well. We’re doing a Disneyland trip this weekend for Ashika’s birthday, so things are slightly being disrupted BUT, hopefully not toooo bad. I’m starting to feel a little bit of a groove with the outlining, and I want to ride that shit ove...
