Day 3,416: The Hits

Had a wonderful evening with Thilde today. Picked her up from school, we all went and had dinner together at Homestate, then we got boba near our house, picked up the pups, and then all drove her home. And Cat got to come home tonight from the hospital. Whew!

Work was solid. Not super productive, but fine. I did enough. Ugh. I’m really, really out of my rhythm. But…tomorrow, I’ve decided, I’m up on time. Have to be. And I sit down and write. Have to. Then, kind of a busy day the rest of the d...

Day 3,415: Money

Late, so a quick one tonight. Liz and her dad have new phones! Oh boy did they need them. Liz’s was literally fritzing out today to almost unusability. Got a new one just in time. Now for the first time in two and a half years, her camera will be better than mine. Mwahahaahaha.

I worked on finances much of the day. Not for taxes, but just in terms of getting organized. We did better last year than I thought. That was…a relief to see. Our first full year in our house and we had one of our bett...

Day 3,414: Home

Up and down day. Up and down…BUT…I got my shit done for work, I handled the house and the pups so we were ready for Lin to arrive—he’s in town for a medical conference—and our fridge is full finally of groceries. What a relief that is. We’ve been BARE since getting the house fumigated.

Oh, and we all ate dinner together and cracked open the first wine from the Wine for Normal People wine club and…

…holy shit it was goddamn delicious. A Sav Blanc from Marlborough and I think Sav blancs are ...

Day 3,413: Error

Trying to troubleshoot an error with Rekordbox on our main DJing computer. Ugh. Our subscription recently updated, but for some reason we can’t get it to go through on this particular machine. The good news is that it’s working on our other computers, just not this one.

Productive day today! Had a good writing session. A very good one. The detailed outline has begun! Chilling opening scene(s). I dig it. Hopefully the reader will too. Nice little setup for later on in the book, and perhaps the...

Day 3,412: so neat

It late. Just here to say that I did it. I woke up on time. I got stuff done, and that meant going to hang out with the King kids didn’t stress me all out. I’d handled what I needed to handle.

Phew.

Tomorrow, gotta repeat that. Starts with sleeping on time.

Night night.

Day 3,411: Blindsided

I was editing a live recording we did for Film School tonight, a movie we watched at my house, and I didn’t realize that I was going to hear Coco barking in the background for one brief section.

It was the last Friday I ever spent with her. And it was so painful to hear those barks, because in retrospect, I knew it was because she was in pain. She was sick in ways we didn’t understand yet. Part of me wishes I’d heard those barks and understood, but I didn’t.

And here’s the thing…Coco had s...

Day 3,410: Bloggo

Man. Today was a bit of an adventure. Not much went to plan, and I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way. Unexpected work popped up. Some logistical stuff changed because of what Liz was up to. In the end, it all worked out. I got my work done, the pups were taken care of, Liz got her stuff done, and Josh and I were able to podcast tonight.

A solid day.

Exhausted. Very ready for sleep. Rest. Need to get my feet back under me for work. Night night.

Day 3,409: Routine

Just thinking about the power of routine tonight.

The dogs crave it. They rely on it to know when to go to sleep, when to eat, or go potty. Their entire day revolves around the routine. And I’m the same way. My routine is the bedrock of my ability to do anything during the day.

Routine got disrupted this week. For many reasons. Today in particular. BUT…tomorrow is a new day. Next week is a new week.

Let’s go.

Day 3,408: Oh

It’s amazing what a full night’s sleep can do for you.

I wasn’t exactly on fire today production-wise, but I did feel much more close to normal.

Sigh. I wish traveling didn’t disrupt me so much. But it does. I just have to accept that and let it be. When I do that, I bounce back much faster than otherwise.

Watched a little Star Trek IV tonight. The one with the whales. It’s so good. SO. GOOD. Feels like christmas. It was one of my very first favorite movies; it and Robin Hood, the Disne...

Day 3,407: Sweet Home

In my own bed.

Glorious.

I had a terrible night’s sleep last night for whatever reason. Keyed up on coming home, I guess, and getting things all wrapped up and finished from the Termite treatment. I couldn’t sleep for the life of me. It’s my shift to take Joy out to pee at 3am, and I slept maybe an hour total between bed time and that pee break. Fell asleep finally after that but, damn. That’s half my night. I think I got about 5 hours of sleep.

It’s not nothing. I was able to do everyt...
