Day 3,529: Snuggle bug

Joy is turning into such a little snuggle bug and I LOVE IT. Put her on my lap today on the couch, and she just snuggled in right there, half on the cushions, half on my lap. Just like Coco. Coops doesn’t do that. But Joy does. Meltin my heart over here.

Picked up traps for the kitties. Gonna do that after we get back from seeing Ryan, Lisa and Penny. Get em fixed, and then we don’t have to worry about them so much any more.

Saw Medwards. He was good. So nice to see him.

Took an epic, w...

Day 3,528: Guil-y

It’s late! Past bed time, in fact. As it usually is on a Friday night after podcasting.

Really fun one tonight. Not so much the film itself, but watching it together, discussing the storytelling, what worked and what didn’t. It’s fascinating to watch a director find their voice and what it is they do well…and don’t do well. Hitchcock and comedy: probably not a great mix. I mean, it’s early. We’ll see. Maybe he has some comedies ahead. But it’s certainly not what he became known for as the “ma...

Day 3,527: Shots Shots Shots

Joy is attacking Liz at the moment with kisses. She’s such a smoother! Always giving the licks. Apparently that’s what they actually are, according to dog behavior experts; kisses. The same meaning with us humans. I love it.

Now she’s making the bed. And by that I mean digging like a mad person on the blanket.

Okay day today. Being out so late with the Kings last night fucked my morning routine, and then I couldn’t recover in the afternoon. Sigh. I tried. Not hard enough, but I did. And h...

Day 3,526: Middling

I had some breakthroughs today in my story. I think I filled two or three holes today. Objectively great! I also…struggled to actually use all my writing time and stay productive. It’s still a wrestling match. But, that’s okay. I’ve been here before. Just have to keep at it. Keep showing up on time, and stay there distraction free until the magic happens.

Got to have dinner with the Kings tonight. Impromptu. Happy. Delicious burgers and key lime pie and a peach tart. The kids were kids. Joy a...

Day 3,525: Sileh

So…Silo was fun that first episode. Kinda has gone downhill since then. Not a ton for me. Maybe too much for Bear. She’s not digging it. But I liked the first episode more than she did. I’m still going to watch, but some of the writing is rough—scenes that don’t turn, dialogue that’s super on the nose, and some liberties with the structure of the story that leave me scratching my head.

It’s fine. I just thought it had a chance to be really really good, and it’s just fine. Graham Yost, the sho...

Day 3,524: Come On Barbie

I wrote. It was rough.

I worked. It was busy.

I yoga’d. I’m feeling stronger!

I worked some more. Even busier!

I wrote again. It was better!

I worked even more. I finished.

I watched Silo with Bear. It was good (but not great).

Now…I sleep. Night night 🙂

Day 3,523: Sleeeeeep

Okay. Making this one super quick because it’s bed time and tomorrow I must MUST get my ass up on time. Have to. So.

I missed yoga yesterday, but I’m so damn proud of myself; I did two sessions today. Spaced em out and whatnot so that I didn’t over-exert myself, but I did it. AND I went on an evening bike ride, which was absolutely insanely lovely. Insanely amazing.

Started watching Silo with Bear. Dig it. Makes me remember how much I loved reading the books; the first one in particular. T...

Day 3,522: One Off

I keep remembering each night as I come to write my blog entry that I know I’m one number off somewhere. And it happened a few weeks ago. I need to go back and figure that out at some point, le sigh.

A solid weekend day today. Slept in a bit. Therapy. Took a shower. We went to a friend’s birthday party. Came home and took a nap. Played a little Switch (MarioKart). Walked the dogs. Ate dinner together and finished Shiny Happy People.

Religion, man. It’s so ripe for oppression, exploitation,...

Day 3,521: Growing Pup

No tummy issues today for Joy. On either end! We call that a ‘win-win.’ Hehe.

Got to podcast in the evening. Another Hitchcock silent film. Storytelling was SO DIFFERENT back then. At least in film. Some of it translates. Some of it doesn’t. Both ways, I feel like I learn so, so much.

Work was good. Busy! I’ve got quite the project to work on over the next several days. Which I love. Busy is good.

My little hiatus from the writing grind has extended itself to a full week, now. Sigh. Did...

Day 3,520: PukeTown USA

I jinxed us. So hard.

I wrote last night that Joy was out of the woods on the whole eating snake plant affair. Boy was I wrong! Lol. And not in any terrible way. She’s fine. But…she did puke like seven thousand times from about 3am to 6am, during which time Liz and I got nary a wink of sleep.

Sigh.

She was fine after that. Tired. But she perked up around midday, and by evening it was pretty clear that she was feeling better so we went ahead and gave her a full meal. She’s been fine with...
