Day 3,494: The Hos!
The Hos are once again united.
We met them over in a new hotel after breakfast and laundry, we did a little shopping, and then we all went over to dinner together. It was SO GOOD. Super solid. Especially the dessert, which was a lemon sorbet, merengue, cream/custard, and diced pineapple and kiwi. Slam dunk. Wine was great. Company, too.
Now…sleeeeep. Night night.

Day 3,493: Walking!
Man. Liz and I *walk* when we’re on vacay. Almost 10 miles today. Almost 10 miles every day, in fact. It helps with the appetite, I’ll say that.
A really, really lovely day. Amazing weather. Great food. Saw some cool paintings (the first starry night, for example, is absolutely spectacular), good wine, and amazing company. I love traveling with Liz. It’s the best best best.
Night night.

Day 3,492: An Intense Day
Man. It’s important to live your life. Sure, it’s impossible to actually live every single day like it’s your last; our brains simply won’t hang onto that kind of intensity long-term, nor should they. But it is absolutely possible to hold long-term that you’re not going to be around forever, and that means not wasting time on the things that you really, deeply need to do…and then go do them.
A friend had a brain aneurysm. They’re probably not going to make it. They were young, as in still had...

Day 3,491: Walking!
We walked today, and waaaalked and walked and walked. Almost ten miles! It was so fun.
I’m quite literally falling asleep at my keyboard, and we have to get up early in the morning, so I’ll make tonight’s entry pretty short, I think. Having a great time. Good food. Great company. Beautiful weather. What more can you ask for?
Night night.

Day 3,490: Marais
I had my first burgundy today. It was a general “cote challonaise,” ie- nothing special or specific in terms of vineyard, meaning ‘fancy’…but still! A genuine, bonafide burgundy. Never had one before.
It was delicious. As expected. Very light. Very tart. Not a ton of depth, which I guess is to be expected since I’m pretty sure those types of burgundy are literally meant to be drunk early, not aged—the light and fresh style made each year. I really, really enjoyed it. We had a nice dinner out ...

Day 3,489: Packed!
Floaty kind of Sunday. Going on a trip and we’re all packed. Don’t have to leave tomorrow until the afternoon, so I’m excited to have a little more time to get some writing done. Pups are over at Stephen and Thida’s and I miiisssss them soooo muuuuch.
Night night.

Day 3,488: Fashion
Y’all…it’s been a legit…five years since I last bought clothes. Maybe four. Four or five years. The wardrobe is BARE. Slim pickins.
I finally bought some new stuff. It was really stressful for some reason. I really had to push myself to do it, and most of it—all of it, actually—was online shopping which is extra stressful. So much trying on, not fitting and returning. BUT…
I have some nice shit, now. Finally. Some genuinely nice stuff. Thanks to my friend Ali for his guidance. He really, r...

Day 3,487: The Muck
Man…we all start from somewhere.
We just started our deep dive into Alfred Hitchcock tonight. It was a hang with Josh that I’ve been looking forward to all week. We decided, together, to do the long route. We’re not watching ALL his 53ish movies, but we’re watching most of them. 33 of them. It’s…a lot. It’s going to take us more than a year. But, I think it’s going to be really, REALLY illuminating. A 50-year career. Holy crap.
I’m so tired. Holy crap. Night night.

Day 3,486: Pluto
It’s already past bed time and I’m on baby Joy duty (meaning I have to wake up in the middle of the night to take her out to pee), so this one is going to be brief.
Not a rockstar day of writing. But that’s okay! I’m still within striking distance, and I’ve already done enough to come back and get started on writing this book. So…it’s a win.
Looking forward to wrapping up this particular sprint tomorrow, want to put in a nice loooong day…and then it’s time to prepare for our trip.
Night...

Day 3,485: Fly
Can I finish this sprint to the finish? I don’t know. But it’s already a win, y’all, because it means I’ll be close enough. Close enough to get cracking on this book when we return from a couple weeks off. And that’s a win. A corner—hopefully the corner—has been turned on this next book.
It’s fun. Will it be as good as the first one or the last one? I don’t know. But, I’m excited about it. Lots of fun sequences. Big finish. Still working on the character arcs, but I think it all has to do wit...
